  2. Let's focus on the ladies first... Go Ashleigh and Cherise!!
  3. I put my medical aid card in my back pocket...
  4. Read here why some women prefer to race the sub(vet) men... http://www.ashleighcycling.com/racing-for-training/
  5. @kevinevansracin “@mikesmaverick: Issue over clothing query resolved. Not to do with riders or result, but equitable rule set application"
  6. These attacks are along Ontdekkers CROSSING the N1.
  7. He bought it in 2010 and 2011 for his own use... I wonder what funride he was trying to win!!
  8. http://29.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_lmlyg0p0p61qbljjlo1_500.jpg "Safe to say that the two sporting stories in the last century have to be Maradona's "Hand of God" & @lancearmstrong's "7 Miracles in France"" I read the above on Twitter...
  9. FYTP!
  10. I leave that up to my loser friend, a dude called Rob!
  11. If these two women were leading "the" race they would be disqualified if they get any help from men... Come ride/race with my wife, you'll be happy if you CAN draft her - I speak from experience
  12. Lotto Belisol Cycling Team Fanpage Cherise Taylor gives her view of stage 2 in Qatar (Women's race): After yesterday's very windy stage I thought that stage no.2 could only get better. Well i was in for a surprise. On the way to race we went through another sandstorm and realised that today will be another tough day in the office. We started of with a tail side wind and the girls went flat out from the word 'go'. The bunch splitted really quickly and I was sitting a bit too far back and missed the front group. After a really hard chase we cought the first bunch around 30km and had an avg speed of 54km/h. Then we turned... We now had a head side wind and with 9girls up the road the pace was still on. We turned on about 45km into a really strong side wind and we all really struggeld to keep our bikes on the road (most of girls couldn't). The group split into smaller bunches and we were now about 30girls chasing the front 9. We made contact with the front girls with 20km to go and immediatly the counter attacks started. I hung on for life and death. Judith Arndt and Trixi Worrack broke clear with Kirsten Wild and Adri Visser on their heels. We were now racing for 5th place. I knew i am not once of the fastest sprinters so I tried going with some of the attacks however nothing went clear. It came down to the sprint and I managed to get 11th place. It is still early season and with this being my first international race since world champs I am pretty happy with how the form is coming is along. Tommorow is the last stage and i am really hoping for the wind to die down a bit. Kind regards Cherise Taylor
  13. http://www.nieuwsbla...189&pid=1475734 Nasty crash from Bronzini... Conditions are crazy, wind, sand storms and guttering... Cherise lost a lot of time on stage one (as did 90 percent of the peleton), but had a very good 2nd stage taking 11th! Here's a pic of her in the new Lotto kit.
  14. So getting in a taxi is similar to riding your bike on our RSA roads...same odds of not making it
  15. What about top road cyclists who compete overseas for part of the year... else change the subject to top cyclists competing in SA... And what about the women?
  16. Yip, R12k is too much. I sold my wife's Solis Nitro for R10k or R11k with Sram Force and Reynolds wheels about 1,5 years ago. It's a nice light frame.
  17. Cyclelab WC won the mixed with Jo, Ash and Lynette.
  18. As I mentioned before - in 2007 Jo was 9 mins faster than the first Elite women. You CAN'T compare the 2 groups! She got 4th in D group, but did not try win the group, but just made sure she was the first open women. Sadly there was/is NO prize money for Open women, which I don't agree with! You definately need talent to stay with the front D men that's for sure! So well done Carin!
  19. I would claim the SA ladies have helped the Ladies Lotto team a lot! It's a win win situation! Keep in mind that the spots on the Belgian Lotto team are NOT free!
  20. I'm baffled by this comment You clearly didn't bother to read my earlier comments... apples vs pears However you are correct that Jo still has a full time job which pays pretty well. Next year will be her first year as a "LAZY" full time pro
  21. Where have you been ?? 6 SA ladies will be racing 6 months overseas next year! Check how much Ash and Jo have improved! The Elite ladies had their OWN start group. I agree that they need to race VA's or VB's and not VC's if they race with the vets. And there should NOT be seperate prize money, they need to compete against them! Use these local funrides to prepare for overseas racing.
  22. Same names... Ash, Jo, Lise (winning when the others were overseas)... These are fairly new names winning most races lately
  23. Not really We've gone through this... As I mentioned before riding a fast time does not mean you can RACE! Getting consistent top 5 or top 10 results will help, but there's a lot more to it! There are very few spots available on Elite teams! So either you need to know people or a fair amount of luck. And rule number ONE for sponsorship is don't EXPECT stuff for free but see how you can help the team / brand forward!
  24. 4 years back Jo got the fastest time from D group and first lady in the open category. As Spinnekop explained licensed riders aren't worried about time! Being able to ride at a steady pace in D group is VERY different to RACING the women (e.g. a break of 4 women 20km into the race against a bunch of 30 to 60 B group riders). Jo won the Elite ladies 2 years after that, so keep an eye on the names in a few years time!
  25. The route suits Ash and Jo nicely (although the hills/drags are a little short), Lise and Cherise will have their work cut out for them! Not a bad prediction
