  1. If you're going to buy any of the extreme light / magicshine types (same thing, different trading name), rather get a Ryder light. It's the same thing in a different package, and has a guarantee that WILL be honoured by the supplier (Omnico) I bought an extreme light, it packed up after about a year, I couldn't find the invoice and the supplier wasn't interested in my problem. Their "service" sucks, all Hannes is interested in is sales, once he has your cash, you're on your own.
  2. Unbelievable. And these idiots are supposed to enforce the rules of the road? This place is such a joke. Another possibility: Kentucky is just about 100 metres from that N4 bridge, maybe the aroma wafting in his direction confused him?
  3. Today is the day for dumbass posts, that's for sure. First we are told to buy pizza for cwc, and now we are asked to lend 300k to a nobody for 6-8 months ~ a distributor of 3 other brands who can't raise 300k himself? I don't think so. Now I need to go check my meds, my head is spinning.
  4. This thread takes the cake (or pizza, whatever you prefer). Never in my entire life have I thought of buying a supplier a pizza because he did what I paid him to do. Is it possible that we have become so used to bad service that we now feel we must reward normal service? It's sad.
  5. Bike Fit. TITS. Stand at regular intervals. HTFU. Do all of the above ~ your dick will thank you for it.
  6. I know they have it listed, which is why I asked for specific details of what they have by pm, figured that would be quickest, apparently I was wrong. Will call them later.
  7. Anyone know where I can get a DA 9000 groupset? Wiggle has bits and pieces, CRC same, Evans prices are crazy, CWC doesn't reply to pm's, seems like nobody wants to do business. Any ideas where I might find one? 53:39 x 172.5, 25:11 cassette, with cables.
  8. Garmin. I used to do the smartphone thing, then changed to an Edge 500. No comparison
  9. Suprisingly well, actually. It was scratched and scuffed, but not broken. It was replaced under warranty, so that was no problem. Have since changed to the aluminium mount, no breakages and as a bonus, very limited vibration, which was a big problem with the plastic junk
  10. Mount it any way you like, just don't use the standard plastic handlebar mount. It is crap, and your new toy will be bouncing down the road in no time (just like mine did)
  11. Me too, with no problems. You just need to judge your buyer/seller properly based on your own interaction with them. 1000+ posters probably represent about 20% of the entire hub audience, in which case cutting off 80% is not good business. I'm interested in their cash, not how much time they waste on the hub
  12. 1000???? That's a bit excessive, don't you think? Picking on noobs on forums has always been considered normal, but not doing business with someone just because he hasn't posted 1000 times is, well.........., dumb. In my opinion, of course.
  13. I rode a GT road bike regularly for 2 years, but it was aluminium. Great bike, albeit a bit heavy, I still have it and use it for training from time to time. I can only assume that carbon will be even better that the alu. Biggest "problem" with GT roadbikes is that they have no bling factor, which puts a lot of people off. I must admit, I much prefer riding my Cannondale...
  14. Nice intro. It says a lot about the type of person you are. There are thousands of laws, and thousands of interpretations of those laws. If your interpretation of the stop at red lights law is "stupid", then I say please carry on jumping lights. The Darwin award is waiting for you.
  15. Wow! A cyclist stopped at a red light. Incredible. So now we are getting special mention on the hub, for doing what we are supposed to be doing anyway. I've been stopping at red lights since I rode a bike as a kid, many decades ago. Do I qualify for a medal? It shouldn't be necessary to congratulate people for obeying the law. Actually, it's pathetic.
  16. So effectively A to E are going to form one huge group of around 2000 riders until Smitswinkel. I thought last year was a stuff up, this is going to be MUCH worse. Get ready for fun, kids. Knee and elbow pads are optional.
  17. They go flat out from the start. I've started A and B in previous years, never once has any mercy been shown over the first 9k's. After that it regroups a bit, but for most the damage is done and recovery is impossible. Also don't forget a very tough finish, just in case you haven't cramped enough by that stage. In you are not in tip top shape, expect to say goodbye to at least half of the A group within 2 k's of the start.
  18. Lots of responses in favour of the Edge 500, and I agree for cycling, I use one and it's great. But for running, how would you use it?
  19. It's closed until 14 Jan.
  20. ....and then when he joined Sky he changed his ways and became a choir boy in his spare time.
  21. But don't worry, he did it all by himself, none of the other team members knew anything about it. Yeah, right.
  22. Within cm of you inside the cycling lane? Or outside of it?
  23. You can probably save about 2k buying the Game special, but considering that an average hospital visit for major head trauma will cost much more, and possibly cost you your life, is it worth it? Economise somewhere else, buy the best head protection you can afford. In the case of helmets, I firmly believe that expensive brand names are better at doing the job than the cheapies.
  24. 2012 - R490 including T shirt and fleece jacket - good deal. Loved it. 2013 - ASG events "test run" - R580 including T shirt. Warning bells starting to ring. 2014 - ASG "we have control" - R720 including T shirt. No thanks. 2015 - R1000? Please do tell how, despite offering less, overall costs have increased by 47% in 24 months?
  25. Out of Zumaland, and a new bike. Lucky guy.
