  1. Contact Stephan Oberholzer, he used to build carbon frames and still to this day does repairs on carbon. Cliff at cycleart also does repairs on carbon, perhaps he could assist.
  2. Did JC Jooste not qualify for the golden GT? I see his time was 3.47 and came 15th overall.
  3. ja' date=' i mentioned james small a coupla pages back...that dude was pretty aggressive off the field even when he was still playing. bullet had his share of trouble too. don't think some former footie players are much better. maybe it all goes to their heads? you are adored by so many, then you go home, and this person who loves you dares to criticise you...how insolent! the sunday papers are gonna make for interesting reading.[/quote'] Bullet....what a beaut!!! At least he has a sense of humour.....had much pleasure wathing Christian Stewart climb into James many years ago...
  4. the rugby players seem to be rather agressive and this after their careers are done...Jame Small beat the crap out of Christina Storm a few times until she got gatvol and packed her things....
  5. That must've cost a pretty penny' date=' but yes, walking distance from start that one [/quote'] I don't recall the exact cost but it was only slightly more than some the B&B's i had phoned and like you said, nice and close to everything.
  6. I have stayed at the Anta Boga hotel and would recommend them. Contact details are 051 444 4643 or www.antaboga.com i can't recall the exact rates so check with them.
  7. you start immediately with a +- 5km climb and then once on top it is pretty much down wind and downhill to Plett. Once you go through Plett you will encounter your next climb, Keurbooms hill, not as long as the Knysna hill but will take you a good 10 minutes at least. It once again flattens out and you continue on the highway to the Craggs, do a u turn and then head on back to Knysna into the wind.....as you pass Plett there is a nice little clim up past the ultra city and you pretty much climb untill you are past New Horizons. Out is fast back is slower.....can be nice a cold!! Cars on not normally a problem as there is a decent shoulder along the route where you can easily ride 3 abreast.
  8. The route has changed....it heads out to Plett now. The route has changed again this year, instead of doing the Wittedrift hill, you will just continue on the highway until the Crags and then do a u turn and head on back to knysna into the wind.
  9. You could do that but then you could only claim for the R1000 even if your bike is worth 50k. You can only claim for the total value insured and you will pay a monthly premium on that. If my 50k bike now gets stolen, i will be 20k short to replace it and i accept that "risk" With house hold cover, that is where they penalise you if you are under insured.
  10. I speak under correction but if my bike is insured for 30k and is valued at 60k' date=' it is then stolen, my insurer will pay out the 30k less the premium. If i fall and break my 20k Bontrager wheels.....they will pay out the 20k less the premium. [/quote'] They will only pay out 50% of the replacement value because you only insured it for 50% replacement value. If you break your R20k wheels, they will only pay R10k of that. Well then i must be in luck.....my bike's replacement value is easily 50k, and all both my previous claims they have paid out the full amount of the crash damage, less the excess.....Never was i told that i am under insured and will therefore pay out only x amount

  12. My fork travel is set on 100mm
  13. thanks Bos. I about 184cm, my road bike is a 57cm with a 110 stem and seat post extended quite some. Because of the 29er wheels and angles on frame it would seem that i need to turn the stem (110) around, as right now it seems to be angled up. I am more into my road bike racing but could see myself getting into the mnt bike scene, so would prefer more "racing" type set up.....i could be wrong but that is what i think i would like. The only bike shop in my area that has/had any knowledge on mnting has closed, so i am kind of just trying to figure it out on my own.
  14. Ok so i am new to the mnt biking thing. Finished building up my 29er but i just can't seem to get the set up correct. Someone mentioned that you should ride a "short" stem and that the saddle height should be lower than that of your road bike. Should you have spacers between your stem and frame? My seat post has a "lay back" is that correct?
  15. I have just finished building up my 1st mnt bike and it is a 29er....without trying to hard, the bike weighs 10.6kg's and will be taking it our for its first ride when my mnt bike shoes arrive. I can't comment on the pro's or con's but decided on the 29er because it is different.
  16. Why would anyone have a problem with someone racing down an age category?? Surely that person would be at a disadvantage, so what it the big deal. Does this person, who happens to be a pretty decent bike rider, instill so much fear in his competitors that they object to his participation? If you want to to be the best, then you need to beat the best...AM included.
  17. Does anyone know of or perhaps have the contact details for the local agent of Computrainers? Thanks
  18. I am strugling to get tubeless tires for my 29er rims.....Looks like i will have to import some as the local agents don't seem to have stock. I have tried Conti, Specialized, Kenda, Maxxis.....does anyone know who has stock for me?
  19. Bruce what would our average local pro watts/kg be and then that of a pro tour rider, as a matter of interest?
  20. My CPU does not like the cold in winter....it takes a while for it to "warm" up....i have also experienced similar problems with my CPU not picking up signal and have just sent it back to Bicyclepower to check it out for me.
  21. I am wanting to buy spokes to build up my 29er wheels, my local bike shop says i need to buy a 100 at a time and only need 64, so i am going to try and source them from another bike shop. What lenght spokes will i need to build Shimano XTR hubs into a Stans ZTR 29er rims? shadowchaser-d2009-03-17 03:56:32
