  1. I am sure Bruce will be able to help you out.
  2. Was thinking the same thing Old Eds was cool on a friday evening and it was not a gay club, so we can talk about that, right?
  3. Talking of which' date=' what was that club a few blocks from the Carlton centre going east... used to be a gay club on some nights and on weekends normal? For some reason the female to male ratio was usually more girls than boys. The station was a long walk from there if you missed your ride... [/quote'] I recall that particular club but not the name....holy seems to have the answers so far. Only gay club i used to go to was Kryptons (spelling) in Rose Bank, was quite a trendy spot and the ladies were hot (they thought they were safe there) There was a cool pub across the road.....Holy? i am sure it was something with "story" in it?
  4. Holy maybe you should change the name of this thread.....
  5. just thinking of that place makes me want to throw up! (the good old days of endless holiday on someone else's account!) So it was your puke that always jammed the toilet Thinking back, those Plett holidays were the best. Keurbooms caravan park was a students heaven...it was a 24 hour party zone....today it resembles something of a retirement village. I use to head down to Plett to catch the Stellenbosch and UCT students for their Plett vacation....then the Camps Bay high, Saint Andrews crowd hit town a month later and then it was round 2 I
  6. I hope that you did not have to use the train this time but the last time i drove past rocky street, was on the way to a test match at ellis park and it looked seriously dodgy. Hope the beer was cold?
  7. I am an english boy from a predominantly afrikaans town....my long hair and earing was a hit with the girls but can't say the afrikaans boys cared much for me and my mates. Use to spend my 4 month holidays in Plett and my folks holiday house, surfing and spending almost everynight at The Cave and Formosa.....the long hair and earings was more accepted there.
  8. rockefellers' date=' bar-pita, tandoor? [/quote'] yip those would be them.....rockerfellers was the "cooler" spot to be and then you would cross over the road to bar pita, anything went there.
  9. me too' date=' and le club around the corner. there was a crowd of us from school who used to make the trek through from the east rand. if you were lucky, you could score a shag on the way home on the train. [/quote'] ah - my ill-spent varsity days! spent EVERY tuesday, friday and saturday evening at The Doors / Alcatraz (that later became Alice-D) dont think we ever had to pay to get in as there was always comps lying around. was in res at RAU and as first years we had to study every evening up to 22:00 with the seniors constantly checking up on you. the trick was to fill an empty coke can with wine so you can get a bit of a buzz going while studying, drive to marshaltown as soon as study time is over, down another bottle of wine with a Degoran flu tablet or two (that you got at the cafeteria on our varisty card that your parants are paying for) and you are ready to go! must say that docs and long hair with earrings did not go down too well in an afrikaans res where rugby is more important than anything else... Dude i forgor about my DOCS......used to buy them from moolahs in the cbd somewhere.....use to say to my mates " just got a pair of 14 hole docs I used to use my pertrol card (that dad gave me) to fill my mates cars up and then use the cash for drinking.......i failed 1st year so badly that i did not qualify to write one exam....my dad is still waiting for my report that got "lost" in the post Rocky street was also a good spot to hang.....the pubs names escape me for now.
  10. me too' date=' and le club around the corner. there was a crowd of us from school who used to make the trek through from the east rand. if you were lucky, you could score a shag on the way home on the train. [/quote'] Ahhh le club.....remember all the guys "smoking" on the balcony out back at the doors Do remember Bella's, Valentinos and Dukes.....those were the good old days would not be caught dead in those ares now
  11. if it is a crime to attend a dodgy night club' date=' they should lock up the east rand [/quote'] one of my best mates met the woman who would become his wife at that nightclub I only ever went to original doors in JHB CBD......the woman in those days were not exactly the type you took home for Sunday tea to introduce to the folks But it was a good place....i can still taste/smel the boerewors rolls they sold outside the front door....
  12. I have a similar problem with limited time, i train 4/5 days a week but for only an hour. I ride hard everytime i am on the bike. I do mainly 20min intervals, sweet spot and 6min intervals. Fortunately i have a PT, so there is no waisting of my time. I often finish my last interval at my front door, no time for cooling down. I would say that you must ride hard every ride but definately to do intervals....threshold and VO2 max.
  13. Just taking the mickey, many car uses purchas the mongrade oil, especially the older models....the mechanics swear by it when doing an enginde overall, who know how much truth is in that.
  14. I have a PM and because my time is very limited i only manage 1 hour rides (max) at the moment.....i do this 5 times a week. I ride hard each day, either L4's, sweetspot and more recently pyramids and i am really suprised at the gains considering the time spent on the bike. Went for a group ride for the first time in months and i felt as strong as ever..... For me having very limited time this is definately worth my while, as there is not guesing what it is i need to be doing in my hour. But each to his own......there are great riders that don't use power and likewise..
  15. Thanks mine def still "click", so i will just leave them then.... As for do it yourself.....not likely but thanks for the vote of confidence
  16. I have heard that the campag shifters can be "serviced" How often does this need to be done and can any bike mechanic do this?
  17. Karen Paquay. Why does your friend not advise you on what Protein shake to use?
  18. thanks, i will keep a look out.
  19. Obviously it works out cheaper to buy a complete bike but since i am in no rush to buy a frame first and work from there?
