  1. I did not receive any paper work and just checked the local agents web site and it does not have anything re warranty. I forgot to mention that this will be 3 frame in 4 years, i had to pay in for the last frame replacement to. But feel after forking out thousands of rands, they should come to the party on this one. The way it worked last time was they gave my dealer a credit fot the "cost" of my frame and then supplied me the new one but then had to pay the difference in the retail price.......
  2. I have a legit warranty claim on my frame that is 18 months old. The problem is that they do not have stock of this particular frame anymore and only have the model that replaced it..........I am now expected to pay the difference?? Is that correct or should i challenge them on this. I paid R18,000 for my existing frame and now have to pay in R8,000 for the new frame......so i would then would have paid R26,000 for a recomended retail price of R21,000 for the frame
  3. Having seen the clip, i have to say i think Sauser has been hard done by. I am not saying that Paulissen was not faster than Sauser but it was not Sauser fault that they fell. That is my take on it.
  4. I also have a set of these.....and to be honest other than the weight saving, they are not as good as my campag calipers. I noticed that there is a lot of forward and backward movement on the caliper when braking. Pull your front brakes and rock your bike backward and forward and you will see how much they move.....that does not seem right to me. The brake pads are also not great.
  5. I don't think that missing school for 3 weeks is such a big deal and sure that most of the youngsters will be able to cope with the workload on return. There are pro's and con's to leaving school early to persue ones dreams. A close friend of mine left school and SA at the age of 10 to join the Boleteri Tennis Academy. Her tennis career went ok but she was no Steffi Graff and at the age of 19 called it a day. She now has many regrets. She does not have a matric (fortunately she coaches tennis) but if it was not for tennis......?? She also had no friends growing up as all your "friends" were your competitors and continually fighting for a spot on the "elite" training group and to get through the next round, etc. Had no parents growing up. The list go's on. Another close friend of the family daughter has been trying to qualify for the 2008 olympics (swimming team) she left school at standard 8, has travelled abroad, experienced so much more than most 16 years old, mom gives her home schooling. She has just missed out on qualifying times for games......so was it worth the sacrifice. In her case i think, yes, she is so mature and has a good head on her. She has done exceptionally well at school and will enrol at varsity in the USA next year. Maybe she will never reach her dream of going to the olympics but she is most certainly no worse off for leaving school. I still don't know what the answer is re home schooling. but i will say good luck to those youngsters and enjoy the moment as they are very frotunate to have this opportunity at such a young age. If i am not mistaken, i don't think Wayne Ferreira or Amanda Coetze finsihed school and they are ok today?
  6. I recently had a new tubby glued for me by my local bike shop, not sure if he was in a hurry or what but he has messed the glue all over the carbon, spokes and tubby. I just want to know what i should use to clean it up without damaging the decals and carbon? Tried hot soapy water and cloth but did not help much.
  7. What do you guys think of the Raleigh RM8.0, i can get a new one for R10800? However someone did tell me to rather go with SRAM but i see it comes with Shimano and the dealer won't swop it for me.
  8. Mampara, what forks are decent and would i have a choice really if i purchase a complete bike? Do you get a soft tail in that price range?
  9. Thanks but i will rather go for a new, that way if i need to change the stem, saddle, pedals, etc it will be far easier and knowing my local bike shop at no extra cost either. Don't the disc brakes push the price up considerably? My thought was to get V brakes with a better groupo and late upgrade to discs if need be?
  10. So my wife wants me to buy her a mountain bike and i need some advice on what i should be looking for when purchasing. I am not prepared to spend to much on her, as i am not convinced that she will share the same passion for the sport as i do. However, having said that, i am also not going to buy her the cheapest bike on the market either. I am thinking for R10 000 i should be able to get a fairly decent mnt bike. My local bike shop does Mongoose, Gt, Raleigh but i am sure they could order others for me. Any suggestions would be welcome as i am a 100% roady, so have very little knowledge of the mountain bike stuff. Thanks
  11. Look, David is not an easy person to work with. He expects things to be done correctly or not at all. With regards to his Braloworld Contract, there were many behind the scenes issues that lead to both parties not renewing. Both Ryan and David were asking for pretty hefty pay increases to which TBW were not prepared to pay. Its His choice if he accepts the money or not. The only reason I stand up for David is because he is a class above the rest. Wether you like him or not he is way above the rest. Have a look at past results, David is hardly ever beaten by a South African when it counts. Olympics, World Champs etc etc. Thanks chunky, like i said i was never disputing his obvious talent. You are correct in saying it was his choice to walk away from BW if he was not happy with the pay! I suppose if he is not an easy person to work with it could rub people up the wrong way.
  12. I don't know him at all and will not even pretend to say i do but if that is the case, that certainly was not called for and won't win him many admirers. I know that chunky rates him big time and always stands up for him, maybe he can aswer my question then? Surely all the above mentioned teams could not be wrong in realeasing him of his contracts because he was not good enough, clearly he is.
  13. After reading this thread, clearly there is no disputing David George talent as a cyclist. But why then is he not able to get a ride on a european team and why did he leave barloworld? Surely there must be plenty of teams that would want to sign him up based on his pedigree, yet they don't?
  14. Has Martin van Wyk not been a consistent performer the past few years. I know that he no longer is a lincensed vet but elite as he wanted to try and get a spot on the team. Seems like J Selebi runs track cycling to.....
  15. Hey Bruce, i have been riding on my Plett holidays for quite a few years now. All the rides go out on the highway towards PE. Kevin and Douglas Ryder control the ride and if you are sitting in the slip, you do plenty of coasting. At this time of the year the group can be as big as 70/80 but will split when you get to the toll gate. Most come back but Kevin and Douglas will then do the passes, eg Coldstream and then back on highway to toll gate where they will climb off and do the Natures Valley pass, then back to Plett. I am not sure what yout training schedule is but if you are planning on doing tempo and L4 rides, it will be better doing it on your own. The group ride will be to slow for you. Maybe what you can do is ride with group to toll gate as a warm up and then do your L4 on the passes? I will be there on the 21st and leave on the 20th January. Met you at Bloem when i collected my wheels from 101%, will come and say hi on the road. My training is plenty L4/sweet spot training for that time, so will be riding on my own on some days.
  16. Pantani, i have a set of the 6.5 and have only used them twice. They are flippen awesome wheels, i promise you that. I used to ride with the 404 tubbies and this is my personal opinion, they are a much better wheel and ride. But i definately would not train with them, not worth the risk. Also got a PT on training wheels and you don't need it for racing. It won't make you better or worse.
