  1. Cool, thanks. I speak under correction but i am sure a couple of years back at the crater cruize Anke Erlank won the race on one....i recall someone commenting on it that day?
  2. Who said it is? I have read a couple of posts on the Hub that mentioned what an awesome ride the 29er is....like i said i don't know much about mnt bikes, hence the question
  3. I am not a mountain biker but am looking at maybe investing in one....i have heard and read that the 29er is a nice ride but i have also noticed that none of the pros use them(could be wrong though) Why then is it such a great buy?
  4. I have used White Lightning, Rock n Roll (gold and red) and found them all to get dry quite quickly. For me i rate Roehloff (spelling) as the best i have used for keeping my chain running smoothly. Converted a couple of mates and they also agree that it works better than the above.
  5. Sorry....i did not mean to make the 94.7 race sound like circuit racing.....When the 94.7 race was over the longer distance, i can recall friends of mine racing Elites making it their goal to make the cut off time and not really race. David George also made mention of the fact that the racing became very negative..... So of the elite bunch, most are just trying to make it to the end and the minority are trying to race. Surely that is not gonna be good for our cyclist? I am all for having longer races as i believe it can only benefit our riders but i am not the expert out there and don't have the solution to the problem.
  6. Hi first had the Zipp 404's and then bought myself the Bontrage Aeolus..... The Zipp's were lighter but i having raced with both, i prefer the Bonties...but that is MPO only....i am sure the Boras are just as great, same can be said for the corima, head, easton, mavic, etc.....
  7. Granted....but that is only 1 race of how many??? Has there not been a drive by the respective pro teams to have longer races added to the local racing calender??? Live the Vets Superseries gave the ladies a platform to race at a higher level, surely SA cycling would want the the same for our men?
  8. It would seem that the local races are not long enough for the pros. As Austin said it always about a bunch sprint.....I know that it must be a logistical nightmare to have the pros racing a longer route and then the masses the shorter route. But is it not in the interest of SA cycling if this is done. If the 94.7, Argus, Hype2Hyper, etc want to host a cycling event, one of the criteria should for them to host a longer distance for the pros. Those elite races that don't/can't race these distances can race in the open licenced groups. So next year Konica has no big name riders, so it will be down to 3 teams, Neotel, MTN and Medscheme to do the racing....
  9. Owen, how did your Bulkmeat team do on the weekend? I dont know, they did not need my services this weekend. Jock rode Elites. I was with the Proline Team at the 94.7. Cool....Well good luck and enjoy!!!!shadowchaser-d2008-11-17 09:28:59
  10. Owen, how did your Bulkmeat team do on the weekend?
  11. In the goup i ride with, we also have a guy that loves to half-wheel everyone......eventually he has to look back to be able to talk to the person next to him.....and even then he does not realise that he is half-wheeling the person
  12. [ Andrew rides L4, L5 and L6, the group chases him around Jozi... That's pretty much it. Andrew just rides hard and then he rests. I've tried to get him to do intervals, but usually just get a not so polite F.O. He does L5/L6 in the various hills on the route, and everybody else tries to hang on. Bruce, if he were to do more L4, L5 on his own in a more structured manner, would he not improve (not that he needs to improve) more so than riding in the bunch each morning?
  13. Yup' date=' he's not quite at his peak at the moment.[/quote'] Bruce, i speak under correction...but does Andrew not ride with a group from the Engen garage in the mornings? If that is the case, how would he be able to train his L4, L5, L6 zones if he is in a group? Andrew rides L4, L5 and L6, the group chases him around Jozi... , sheesh!!! Glad i don't live in Jozi....must be "fun" when you roll through and Andrew is next to you.......ok, i am gonna do a quick 6min L5 interval......1 x new handle bar tape and carbon bar when you get home

  15. So with our hard earned money, it seems we can't treat ourselves to nice things anymore because some lazy f.......g bastard feels he has the right to take what is yours. Why.....because is to f......g useless to get a job, far easier to ruin lives of others.....
  16. My sister was held at gun point in her driveway today for her bloody Rolex watch Her 4 year old daughter was with her and her 9 month old son. They new exactly what they wanted as they just said..."give me your rolex" They just casually walked away and climbed into their new 3 series BMW....she had just been in Sandton, so they must have followed her from there to her house in Saxonwold....she noticed the BMW behind her but thought nothing of it, even looked in her review mirror as the gate was closing but they just jammed it!!!! ADT security were there in minutes but SAPS are yet to arrive Now i know why i left Jhb for the country life....it is crazy what is happening in our country. Thank goodness they did not harm her and the kids.....
  17. If you are only going to use your cork pads, i would suggest that before fitting your carbon wheels to take some sandpaper and clean the cork pads....i found that they picked up metal pieces from my alu rims and then left fine scratches on my carbon wheels. First prize is to change them.
  18. Andrew is older than 41 and his numbers are better than that....
  19. Bruce, what do you think Lance would have averaged for this effort considering he did most of the work on front?
  20. I would prefer it to be in March, have always wanted to give SA's a bash but the winter months i find to hard to do decent training
  21. Great song i also like Cactus.... Pearl Jam - Black is one of my all time favourites
  22. Does he not race for the Bulk Meat vets team, or are they setting up an elite pro team next year??
