  1. nice looking bike, i'd buy one to give it a try although i don't think in its class (price, travel, carbon) its going to beat a SC or Yeti or or or? it should be a 30% less priced compared to big brands to make it a winner i.m.o
  2. It looks a bit like a niner ??? http://reviews.mtbr.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/06/J9RDO_Tang-1024x640.jpg top rocker very similar, lower pivot a bit different... nothing not seen before??? even the plus 5 not totally new?
  3. Why, your comment makes no sense? Especially the climate bit? Better wheels, better stopping power, prob lighter, so many benefits
  4. when I was a kid, we used to go on our daily training rides and after we would often meet up at our lbs, we talked crap with the owner/staff and checked out the workshop to see who in town was busy getting what upgrades, etc... remember always drooling over new builds, and new products on display... personally, these shops just don't do it for me... there is something really special about building a bike from scratch... choosing components based on your preference and also your budget, etc.... except for the S-works bikes, you are always short changed with budget/low end components mixed into their stock builds, and your spaz bike has NOTHING special because they are all exactly the same being pumped off the sausage factory line... these concept/elite stores just don't do it for me....
  5. Bud, brake hose vibrating on frame is not the same as Avid turkey wobble. And the wobble also means fade, performance, and other related issues, it's not just the sound.... Avid turkey wobble is a perfect storm of heat, fluid, pad and rotor combination. You do not get that same noise on a Shimano setup. And if you run ICE-TECH Rotors with XT / XTR brakes, you don't have to worry about countless bleeding, adjustments, fade, rotors, etc... I actually also really enjoy Formula brakes... and as per Martin, I will try out some SRAM Guide's soon, I just can't imagine that I need "more" performance when the benchmark is XT/XTR/ICE-TECH. AVID/SRAM rotors IMHO has also really been *** in the past. Again, I'm not comparing BRAND A vs. BRAND B, thats just silly, I am comparing XT/XTR/ICETECH against the common "Avid Brakeset".

  7. Also, while I'm not making any fans or friends in here.... 22kmh??? on a downhill is the test? You don't need brakes at that speed...
  8. Sorry buddy, I'm not a SRAM basher. I do/have owned almost every brand/series of both SRAM and Shimano high end groupsets. And actually as far as the drive train goes, I prefer SRAM. When it comes to brakes, you don't get better all round stopping power, performance, reliability than Shimano. If you seriously think SRAM brakes are better then I would Love to hear your reasons and experience on this topic? The bike shop saw him coming when they suggested trail brakes on his epic. They didn't even fit the correct Rotors for his weight, 160mm in the front on quad piston trailbrakes and a 90kg rider? You must be kidding right?
  9. Makes sense... It's probably all (or most expensive) brakes the spez dealer had in stock. They saw you coming bud.
  10. Sorry you got hurt bud, the surgery will fix you up better than ever. I didn't come for about two years straight, then crashed 3 times in 3 consecutive rides. mojo, karma, luck, fate... who knows!????
  11. welcome to the hub. if the pistons were sticky and you cleaned and lubed them, you might have to bleed again/or properly this time.
  12. Hi B20 I'm just not able to help myself, I really tried Happy to hear you like your SRAM XO Trails, however I'm sorry to inform you that they are NOT that amazing, at least not when you compare them to SHIMANO XT(XTR), especially when you include Ice-Tech Rotors into the equation. You also mention you had reliability issues with the Formula's, don't expect the Avid's to be bulletproof or without “turkey gobble”. Lastly, don't know why you put "trail"quad-piston brakes on an Epic, it's just a bit silly.
  13. "Descending and chest infections" almost like "Going down and getting throat infections....
  14. I just figured it out. It's actually a "5-WORKS" by "5PECIAL1ZED" And if you look carefully at the inside of the chain stay you will see this is the special UCI WCcedition STUMP-PUMPER.
  15. I like fake boobies, that, not so much.
  16. Welcome to Joburg. You should also try Modderfontein, Thaba, Rietspruit, etc. All of them closer than Groenies, and also hell of a lot easier to get to traffic wise from Randburg. There is also Northern Farms, Cycle Park, etc
  17. For a first timer, NF or modderfontein or Rietspruit. Many first timers get hurt on the spruit, dog walkers, road crossings, other riders, Ss and Strava nuts, etc etc....
  18. I also wonder how many people actually still watch CB, we have stopped watching it. It's not what it used to be.
  19. Trail/Enduro/AM my ass, this bike is not any of those, and I seriously don't think they intentionally designed it to be "versatile" as such. In my opinion they should ask for this article to be delete, cause it's just ridiculous.
  20. Really? You can't be serious this time. Just delete the post and let's all pretend it didn't happen.
  21. All good bike shops have-em. It's a really expensive tool, and if you have a titanium frame they might not like tapping it, but normal frame takes only a minute or two to tap.
  22. Love the frame colour scheme, if they sold this frame "as-is" I would buy it. Maybe they should sell this with an included Decal Pack, with different colours, and people can personalize it to their liking.
  23. In any country in Europe you find cars are very aware of cyclist using the roads, especially on weekends, and more so on sundays. In any case, anyone ranting on about people deserving to die when they break the law is just so ridiculously stupid, you must have a real small pnus if that's your answer to an argument. Lastly, if you think for one second that all drivers stick to the letter of the law when it comes to speeds, yielding, indicating, not using their phone when they are driving or not driving if they are over the "legal" limit... Those who live in glass houses.... In any case, common courtesy and a little bit of respect and tolerance goes a long way... I still don't think in this specific case the riders caused any danger to anyone else, so who cares if some tosser had to impress his fiance by throwing a bit of a tantrum just because he felt a little entitled to do so....or maybe because that's the way his mommy or daddy taught him to behave...
  24. Your my friend, you are simply an Idiot. Because just exactly like I predicted, in almost the first response after your initial post you refer to the guy behind you as a "black" guy. Who cares what colour he was, obviously it matters to you? You also think that you/or someone else has the right to "kill" another. And that such actions could be justified. "hate" ... "kill"
  25. I also just can't help my self commenting on your stupid choice of "topic" for this post... "cyclist are hated" There are too many idiots in this world thinking they have the right to "hate" things. This type of mentality is usually displayed by racists, sexists, religious nut-cases, etc etc etc etc.
