Who did yours in DBN bud, please sure detailsThese guys just did mine in Durban and it's amazing. Full coverage if you give them just the frame, but they can do it with a fully built bike too. I see there's one in Midrand. I did also put the honeycomb All Mountain kit on myself from Trailtech, just to add a bit of bling. It's actually so easy, and took 20minutes.
Where is the best place to get a bike fitting done in KZN? Looking for an ‘active’ 3D fitting, similar to Retul or something else along those lines. Had one done 5 years ago, but I’m sure my body and flexibility have changed dramatically since then. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Shot
Hey guys, we doing this year on BMX's again for a charity, have a newcomer joining us, with one small issue, he does not have a BMX. Anyone have or know of someone that would allow us the use of their BMX for the day? If safety/security is a concern, I'd be more than willing to pay a deposit to ensure that you get your bike back. Thanks a mil!!
Back to the fork, anyone have any info on release dates here in SA? When can we buy them?
That's just dumb.. and I've seen your fat ass on a bike, the only way you do a 2H40 is on motogp bike and last I checked you couldn't buy one. Also more far fetched is you trying to tell us you have a mate.
See you Saturday for dam ride.
Listen, just because you sat on the back of a long stretched out thing staring at Flooders arse for 2hrs, dont be grumpy and take it out on me. See you Saturday, ill come on the BMX , that way you can keep up
Mate and myself rode on BMX’s today, started out of D, any of you guys out there happen to see us? Ended on just under 4:30, far off our usual 2:40 race times, but we had an absolute blast out there!! And beers, we had lots of beers en route ????????
Hi, is this entry still available by any chance?
have they banned anyone with a doping conviction from ever entering their races, also, is there a specific instance where a winner has been stripped for a doping offence
three towers stripped Rourke Croeser of his finish last year if im not mistaken!
Where are you based? This is what I need help with. every year my knee pain comes back due to imbalances. I've got an huge arse. (well as huge as someone of 68kg's can be) but theres nada movement/support from it.
Have you guys seen Nino Shurter's latest video?
That's him though...
Awesome example of cross training. if the pros are doing it, then??
CF works, no doubt ( I own a CF box though so maybe a bit bias). The thing with CF is that it doesn't target specific muscle imbalances and is not targeted to cycling specifically. Yes, it helps with general conditioning and strength, and also is invaluable when it comes to HR intervals etc, but you are able to achieve MUCH better results training specifically, with a certain element of CF. Knee pain, lower back pain etc are normally symptoms of muscle imbalance, even upper back pain while riding. Hamstring , glute , stabilisers are what we target , Single leg exercises to avoid compensation by the dominant muscles etc. If you in and around the Fourways area, give me a shout, join us one evening and you can see for yourself what it is we do.
So, who does cross training? What have you found to be the benefits? What have you found to be the 'down sides' if any? How often are you cross training? Do you adopt the 'muscle balance' form of training, ie: stabilisers and muscle you don't predominantly use while riding, but add to your overall endurance and power output?
Reason for this topic is that I have been running these cross training sessions with a group of guys from our 'club', we have all noticed big changes and improvements, I want to see what others have to say about it.
Anyone changed the cranks on their 2015 Superfly FS? The bb is a GXP, which is easy enough, however the size is a 95 PF, from what I can see, only Trek uses this size? So question is, Im wanting to change the crank to something very light, ie: raceface or rotor, something along those lines, but need to make sure I can in fact actually change it. Any help would be appreciated.
No, that's not my opinion. My opinion is that nobody should ever have to resort to a 110mm stem to "make the bike fit" unless there is a very very very good reason for it. XCO isn't that reason. Neither is marathon.
It's when you absolutely have to have the lightest bike possible and are solely concerned about climbing ability, and you have no problem with tackling technical features like those found on an xco circuit of Olympic quality, whilst on that bike with the 110mm stem.
For everyone else, and that includes you, that 110mm stem is a liability. You'd be far better served with something shorter on a longer bike
Not a 110mm stem, but anything over 70 mm as per your previous post? That's what you said I think? I agree that 110 is overkill, do not agree with your statement of anything over 70
Was waiting for this nugget.
Kulhavy etc are in a segment where the large majority of effort is expended on the climb, and climbing efficiency and WEIGHT is of maximum importance. A larger frame with shorter stem weighs more than a smaller frame with longer stem.
Also, they need to get as far over the front as possible and as low as possible on the climbs, similar to roadies.
Also, their technical skills are certainly not lacking, so getting their body positioned right is possible even with the long ass stem placing their weight over the wheel. Plus they know how to counteract that effect.
Also, they are not us. Every single measurement is designed to eke out the maximum efficiency on the climbs and flats. Downs are a secondary concern, though still important. Therefore stability and such on the technical bits takes a back seat to weight and climbing ability. Even though you can still climb with a shorter stem. It just requires a change in technique, but you also get a LOT more control. Also, smaller frame = shorter wheelbase = faster directional changes which helps in passing and switchbacks on those technically challenging courses
If you want to see someone embracing the new geo trend on the xco circuit, have a look at Florian Vogel and some others.
So your opinion is that it is better suited to XCO riding, then what about the marathon riders, the likes of Sauser and friends. Point I'm trying to make is that we are all far too quick to say 'you should never this and don't ever this' etc, no 2 individuals body geometry is exactly the same, therefore there is no one size fits all answer.
no. You should not even go near 110 on an MTB. If you do, you are DEFINITELY on the wrong size bike. Size your bike on the FRAME size, with a stem length between 35 & 70mm (maybe 80mm on a dedicated marathon machine, but even then no) depending on your particular circumstances and needs. That 35mm variance is often more than the difference in ETT lengths between different size frames, and so allows plenty variance when determining setup and desired use etc.
110mm on an MTB is a recipe for disaster. Weight far too forward, skittish handling on the rough stuff, a feeling of going OTB at the slightest obstacle, hindered weight positioning ability... the list goes on.
so who's gonna break the news to Kulhavy, Absalon and 80% of the other riders on the circuit that their stems are too long??
No worries bud. The reply was free of carbs and sugar. I promise.
Oh wow, please stop, you trying so hard, but its just not funny
There's HOPE...
(Ok, I should have waited till Friday for this...)
Pretty original, never heard that one before Got any more?
Hi Guys
I have been on a low carb and medium to high fat diet for the last 3 months. I have lost loads of weight because of this while also riding and running.
The problem i am having is that i am battling to sustain energy levels on a 30km+ ride. So i am asking if there are any riders out there who are on a similar diet and have the same issue?
Or if you have solved the problem with the correct diet? If so, what are you using as pre ride fuel, post ride recovery fuel, and during a ride fuel to keep you going?
Thanks
Took me 6 months to get back to close to where I was after starting, another 6 months and I was exactly how I was on rides prior to cutting out carbs and sugars. Nowadays, can ride up to 3.5 hours at HR avg of 172 just on water. It keeps getting better and better, if you serious, hang in there, 95% of people give up too quickly, human nature, instant gratification. Remember, you are changing your body's 'fuel' , something that has taken years and years to develop, don't expect it to change again in a couple of months. Give it 12 months at least is my advice, worked for me, but hey, im no doctor!
I have done business with Zilla, his brother and father over the years many times both as a client and as a supplier.
They are stand up guys and I will not believe for a second that anything here was malicious.
Zilla, you have stated your case. I doubt that you will lose business due to this. So don't lose sleep over this
Stumbled upon this thread, just the last 2 pages sums this up for me. The bike shop states that at no point was VAT discussed nor did the OP question VAT prior to the conclusion of the deal. The OP has attached copies of emails above that state otherwise. As well as a (ill say it) fraudulent tx invoice reflecting another businesses tax number??? Wow, how are people still defending the shop? Something someone once told me, it takes a lifetime to create a reputation, a split second decision to destroy it! My 5 cents.
So theoretically will work for the discs
petrol works, not sure about the diesel though. If you have contaminated brake pads, soak them in petrol for 24hrs, leave in sun to dry for 24hrs and bobs your uncle.
Momsen has a good selection of kids bikes! Check them out.
My 5 cents, Ive done Crossfit for around 3 years, is a nice alternative / crosstraining option, however does fatigue your muscles a lot, and this definitely affects cycling. However, what the people I train with have done is created a cycling specific cross training, which ties in certain crossfit movements / principals, however focuses on a lot of muscle balance type work, and everyone that has tried it has seen massive results! We train in fourways at Cedar Square, you might have seen us, training on the artificial skiing slope! If you in the area, come try it out, I guarantee it makes you stronger on the bike, and you notice a massive difference in your recovery times!!. PM me for more info if you keen.
