  1. I feed the excess to my pitbill. That is why he is called Diesel. Fights like a Tasmanian Devil after the fact.
  2. Give it a try on any oily greasy part you got. MAGIC. Just be sure to clean it off any paintwork. Only say this cause I am super careful with my bike so do the diesel carefully. But never had a problem with it.
  3. Oh, what steerer size? Normal 1 and 1/8"?
  4. 7700 7800 or 7900? 2 or 3 front blades?
  5. To be honest I don't train with HR. Use a Power meter. If I had to choose right now though I would base heart rate zones much the way you choose power zones and that would be similar to setting zones between resting heart rate and max heart rate.
  6. Do you have the wheels, groupset, alles? Kind of was looking forward to building one myself here. But, lets see the response before I decide and how the list goes.
  7. That would fit the frame nicely. I will start to put a list together.
  8. I would suggest you up your mileage by training on flat roads so youu can loose that weight. Once youu have lost the weight the hills will be easier. I think your only problem is that being 104, riding up those hills is like carrying a 50kg bag of cement up 10 flights of stairs once a day 3-4 times a week. It is simply too heavy to really adapt with such little training. At 104kg going up a hill will always be hard work. You will find that once you up your training on the flats and loose some weight from the extra exercise you will find riding in general much easier and more pleasurable. Good luck man!
  9. There is a better way. Buy a nice paint brush with long bristles and some diesel or meths. Simply "paint" the whole drive train with the dipped brush whilst rotating the cranks backwards. Get into the gears, etc. After about 1min it should be spotless. Then spray it with water and wipe it down. Allows to dry and then lube. This is how the pro team mechanics clean a drivetrain. To complete the bikewash just dip the same paintbrush into a big bucket of soapy water after rinsing and do the same to the whole bike. 10min and your bike should be spotless. DO NOT USE PETROL OR BENZINE - FLAMMABLE AND A CAN CAUSE CANCER
  10. What size frame you need? Mine is a small one. Is she someone who can afford to buy one? I don't mean to be funny, but I meant for the bike to go to someone who really wants a bike, but cannot afford it.
  11. Those are funny flavours???
  12. Hi All I have an old Schwinn Fastback frame that was left over when I bought my girlfriend at the time a new frame and wheels. I have had the frame in my garage for 2 years now and was looking at it today wondering what I could do with it other than selling it. So I thought, hey why not give it to someone who wants but doesn't have a bike. Then I thought, but it has no parts so will probably just sit around. So then I thought to get onto the HUB and see if anyone is interested in helping? Does anyone have any parts that are currently just lying around that you could put toward this project. Single shifters, wheels, brake calipers, etc. It only needs to function safely and doesn't even have to be a set. I am sure if we all put in what we can give we can come up with a complete bike in good, safe working order. I am going to check at the local races to do some scouting for potential people who I could give this bike to. Also maybe going to check out the guys and girls who currently hang out at the triathlons as I know there where guys there that wished they could do the sports but never had the gear. Anyway, if anyone is interested to help let me know. Thanking you in advance. The_Break
  13. Try see if you can order some Cliff bars from the USA. They are awesome bars and there are so many different flavours it would take you a long time to get tired of them.
  14. Max heart rate cannot be calculated accurately. Period! You need to conduct a test.
  15. If I remember you went on a diet about 2 months ago and started getting into trouble there? How is the weight loss going? I suspect you are losing weight and that you feel weak because you are not eating enough? What you losing per week?
  16. Racing should be 100% about feeling. Unless of course you are in a TT or break away and you know your training and body extremely well that using a HRM or PM keeps you within your effectiveracing threshold. I find using a PM during racing, even be it a TT or BA, ineffective as you worry more about it than concentratinng on riding.
  17. If you are overtrained I would rest totally till thursday then have a light run and light cycle. Eat as much as you want to durng this time to aid recovery. That whay you will enter race as recovered as possible. I would suggest a lengthy recovery afterward as chronic over-training is something that can affect performance long-term if you don't treat it properly and as soon as you can. Some advice, do your swim way under pace and pick it up on the bike if you still feel ok.
  18. Let me just say, doesn't matter if you ride Elite or even Pro, no one, not even Lance or Ullrich has the right to be a windgat cause bottom line is no one likes a windgat. Nicest person I ever met was Tim Don. Multiple World Champion in Tri and Duathlon. Spent time with him training and socially and I can tell you he is one of the nicest, most humble guys you get. And people like him for that, not because he is king of his castle. His character is one that he never talks down about people and is outward, not inward focused. In 2003 we were at the Du World Champs in Switzerland. Tim defending his title was lying in 2nd place on the 1st run, chasing 5 time World Champ Benny Vansteelant. Benny slipped on the wet grass going around a corner and I saw the most amazing thing I have ever and probably ever will see in sport. Tim slowed down, stopped to help Benny up, pushed him on ahead of him and then continued to race. Now that is what I call a champion. Doesn't matter who you are, but if you don't have common decency the world will abhor you, but by having a character that is outward focused youu can win the hearts of people in a very powerful way. Wish I had more of that.
  19. It means you are committed or it is your job.
  20. I buy almost everything from supplier contacts in EU and buy extra to sell, but when I walk into a bikeshop in PE everyone knows I mean business as they know if I walk out I will get it somewhere else if they can't provide it then and there. They also know I do not bargain so take me more seriously. I think if you get known as a chancer who is all about want want then you will get less service from a bike shop. After a while it is just not worth it anymore to do business with you as the pain in their butts for much less profit is just not worth it. And let's be honest, they make more than enough money to be desperate enough to drop their prices too low when you phone back and forth between shops. Being competitive is only advantageous to a point. After that point it negatively affects the industry and other customers get miffed if they hear they bought something for 20% more than their friend who bouught it a few hours later. Business is business so why should you have to give discounts in any case. If you can't properly afford it maybe you shouldn't own it.
  21. Do yourself a favour and go shop a CWC. Nice drive to Tygervalley. Otherwise chat to Kobus at Flandria, he is a grounded guy.
  22. Sorry to say, but this theory and the advice it carries is really not good at all. Even though your chain and sprockets lasted, it is not just about good or bad shifting. You replace a chain due to chain wear which occurs between the pins and linkage holes. This wear means that there is play and play means that there is a greater risk of chain failure and we all know what that could spell. Chains break for two main reasons: Incorrect installation. Failure of a link due to wear. So no, it is not marketing. It is good engineering practice that recommends you maintain your equipment to prevent failure and injury. It is like saying, well my car ran 90000km on the same set of spark plugs and I never needs to change my fuel filter or my oil or oil filter so don't waste your money. Companies like Shimano, Campy, etc run extensive endurance tests developed over decades to come up with solid designs that include good practice maintenance procedures. I can tell you that I would be very surprized if any of the large companies in the world would try and sell more product by BSittiing the public about maintenance procedures. Owner manuals are developed by the engineering departments and not marketing.
