  1. Dude if someone tuned me where to ride I'd get seriously pissed! I ride on the side with the best surface because I can! I don't get overtaken much so not really an issue for me though! Hahaha what does get me though is when two riders ride side by side having a duk chat and block route for everyone. But even then I make a plan and go around, cos at the end of day I'm there to have fun, not to get stressed!
  2. Awesome shots Tuna, much better than the boring bike n babe stuff we normally find here! where were they taken?
  3. Synagogue or synagouge??? I must start joining you okes again!
  4. I had a wild card before they changed the system, haven't bothered to get a new one yet. I've heard a rumour that TMNP is happy for the slopess Devils Peak to be turned into a bike park, is this true? I was also given permission to ride on the single track below the cable station by one of the rangers recently!
  5. Just a question, what does this run cost? Anyone know?
  6. Ignore what chubba says! I reckon fitness is not as important as comfort and getting your body used to your shoes and carrying your kit. The thing is though, as you go walking to adapt you body to the various stresses you'll be getting fit! Lions Head is a good walk to do after work, if you can do it twice or three times a week you'll be sorted, throw in a long walk on Table Mountain over the weekend and even better! But remember to walk in the shoes/boots you'll be using in the cederberg, also start getting used to a heavy pack now. It's a beautiful part of the world- enjoy. Make sure you get to a couple of these places- Tafelberg, sneeuberg, wolfberg cracks, maltese cross, stadsaal, crystal pools and maalgat. In order of importance!
  7. What route/trail you doing? I'll let you know how fit you need to be.
  8. Chubba, i might be keen to join your ass at Delvera, you gonna ride the trails as well or jsut play in the kiddie pool?
  9. By 'bushes' are you referring to bearings?
  10. We gonna need some more info in case we need to flame you. Were you overtaking the dude, was he going up and you going down - or vice versa. We need the facts man!
  11. Hey Palaeodom, I can't think of anything about the ex 9 that I don't like! I have an 07 model which is heavy, bout 2kg's heavier than my wife's anthem. The ex is a more versatile bike an more comparable to the trance. I've done lots of XC stuff on the ex as well as a few downhill trails. It handles the downhill trails well, and my balls give in way before the bike reaches its limit.
  12. I saw a dude who did not look like a mtn biker riding off Devils Peak today. Might have been a commuting student (I saw him as I was leaving UCT) but he had mud on his clothes, so he came of the mtn. No helmet or gloves though. Meridas all look the same to me, so not sure if it was an expensi one or not.
  13. I've ridden both the anthem and ex 9 and I love them both. Anthem is a great XC bike and handles well, but an ex 9 with a talas fork is so much more versatile! Climbs well and flies down the trail.
  14. I've used and prefer elektopak, same stuff, bit only get it at chemists. Its like rehydrate on steroids.
  15. You can also substitute in some Dates and Quinoa into these recipes to add some vooma!
  16. I ride with biopace and love it! I enjoy the smoothness of each pedal stroke. Was also not blessed with much in the leg department, so I like all the advantage I can get!
  17. I usually lock my bike up inside against a metal fence. I've also forgotten my lock and been allowed to wheel the bike into the pool area and left it against a wall there. Lockers are big enough for a fair size bag, and caps not compulsory.
  18. Long Street is a great pool - always clean, but sometimes busy. esp. on hot summer days during school holidays. Only problem is parking which is why i cycle there.
  19. I reckon its lank easy, you can base it on the way roll up blinds work. Hammer and Tongs in the Garden Centre have some cheap carabiners.
  20. Un-rated carabiners bought at a hardware store cost about R10, more than strong enough. Is it not possilbe to bang two pulleys into the roof and and run two independant lines from the bike up to pulley and down to tie-off point? THe weight of the bike is shared between each pulley, no mechanical advantage, but it will work. Cheap and easy!
  21. Right Chubba, i've arranged permissiom, i'll meet you at Kloof Nek at 5pm. The Shova Circuit was built for that bike!
  22. Posted on Facebook... Lets get some perspective on Ard Matthews: Just Jinger was a much bigger injustice to this country than fluffing the national anthem. Come on now. 13 hours ago ·LikeUnlike · Joe Strummer also did a great cover of Redemption Song, but agreed, Bob Marley's version still the best.
  23. or one that says: 'Two free tickets to see Just Jinger Live'
  24. All mountain is when guys on xc bikes ride the downhill trails (up and down)!
  25. BeJiestelik! We gonna hit the Shova Circuit on Friday afternoon?
