  1. 810 only has bluetooth to upload rides via the cellphone....unfortunately it can't receive fitness data via bluetooth, only via ant
  2. the one year I don't enter and I could have finally cracked a sub-3 enjoy the ride guys.....for those moaners, its really not the end of the world!
  3. express doesn't work with strava yet
  4. please post it so we can see what the fuss is all about
  5. you realise that Mike Sinyard will get his lawyers to send you a letter for posting a pic of a non-Specialized bike next to a Specialized sign!
  6. I think you've hit the nail on the head. Spez probably pulling funding due the brand ambushing and TMM now out of pocket. Funny though, I never heard Scott complaining when all the Spez signs started popping up on Jonkershoek trails. Riders may have assumed that all the trails in JH were provided by Spez.
  7. yip...dual susp...was driving me nuts!
  8. If its not the chainring bolts check the suspension bearings.....my crank/bb sounded like it was creaking for months....stripped many times...no results.....it was in fact the susp bearings but it really sounded like it came from the cranks
  9. I had Avid Elixir's...switched to Shimano XT...best thing I ever did!
  10. I was out there in 2012 and rented a bike from Lake Como Cycling. I can fully recommend them. Just take your kit, helmet, pedals with. They delivered the bike to my hotel and it was a carbon Cervelo with Ultegra. They also supplied a tube, bom and waterbottle. I'd suggest you book in advance. They list all their bikes on their website so pick a bike you like and with the right gears and drop them an email. I took it out to ride the Mortirolo pass.....a great climb, if you like climbing.
  11. i've done quite a lot of http, but never ftp
  12. bmt in stellenbosch....chat to trevor...be prepared though....if I recall it cost R2k for the rear shock major service!
  13. not a train smash. when they did they service on my shock (epic expert carbon 2011), they replaced that connector pipe as part of the service
  14. mine has always had a settling in period
  15. i think it was $12
  16. these arrived today. bye bye avids
  17. I think Avid are good if you have a 24/7 mechanic
  18. Thanks guys for the comments...I'm sold on the XT brakes....there is just no plausible excuse for Avids......if you ride up too steep a hill they need to be bled!
  19. thanks...yeah, im tired of the avids now.....
  20. I've finally decided to change the avid brakes on my Spec epic 29er with XT. Chainreaction has a great special at the moment. There are however a few options to order which I need advice on: -front hose length 950mm or 1000mm? -rear hose length 1500mm or 1700mm? -the levers are either A spec or B spec - which do I need. The bike has SRAM X9 shifters -will the avid rotors work or do I need XT rotors? Thanks
  21. Ive had an edge 305, 800 and now the 810. Never had a problem following trails or tracks with either of them. Can't comment on 705. On the 810, I simply load ride profiles with basecamp onto the device. You can then set the device to always display the trail so it always shows when you are riding. That way when you ride, you can see the trail and follow it (I don't know the difference between all garmin's routes/tracks/etc.). If you want you can switch on navigation, but that often is just irritating as it keeps telling you you are offtrack. One rather irritating problem with the 810 over the 800 is that when using navigation, it can't seem to pick up if you start halfway through a trail...it insists on navigating you to the start - the 800 used to pick up where you are, what the trail direction is you want to go and figure it out. Not sure if anyone has figured out this issue?
  22. I don't get your issue.....my suggestion - spend more time riding your bike and less time posting negative stuff about other folks riding their bikes....you could do with the performance improvement
  23. i can't emphasise how minor this surgery really was (unless of course there are complications which I guess can always occur)......best to check with your doctor, but I recall it was six weeks off (which seems to be the period for scar tissue to form in general). I started light spinning a few weeks after and road biking probably after 5 or 6 weeks
