  1. Well done Ashleigh .With no team support won bronze medal .The poms rode a good race .Aussies could not get a podium finish with all their tactics and support
  2. Using this now .After 50km of Highveld dust the chain wasn,t even dusty or brown and still running perfect .Expensive ,but worth it http://media.muc-off.com/851-large_default/c3-dry-ceramic-lube.jpg
  3. I rode the USN event at avianto today on my trusty Tallboy .Man! I was happy I was on the full sus .My SS has a 120mm fork with lockout .Makes the bike 1,5kg heavier but when you need it it helps .I am to old for a rigid fork anyway .Rigid forks are for 20 year old laaities that weigh 60kg
  4. This is the best 50km of mtb track close to Gauteng .We rode the same route as Eqstra spring classic in reverse .Always a challenging and enjoyable route .My entry for the spring classic already in .This was my first USN race and i give you guys full marks .Thanks!
  5. Nice ride .Do you not miss a suspetion fork .Especially at a place like van Gaalens with all them rocks
  6. 10speed slx cassette weighs 50grams more than a xt and costs R500 and i find it works just as good or even better than a xt
  7. I sold my 26 " merida for R2500 ,the same as it costs me to fill up my 180 litre tank Prado
  8. I would rather get me one of these http://www.englishcycles.com/custom-wheels/
  9. I currently have both on different mtb,s .Ardent is the only maxxis I will use in front ,they are heavier than X-king,s but are better on tar .X-king has the best grip I have used and that includes nobby nic ,they will also last forever .I have yet to have a puncture on a conti protection tyre .If you ride in Gauteng like me conti will still be my first choice .If your budget is tight an Ardent in front will be the best choice .Crossmark is not a good front tyre .
  10. Perfect for any woman ! No maintenance ever ! and it fixes it own punctures
  11. Pratley steel with a splint on the outside will fix it .Splint it with a piece of carbon or aluminium from a softdrink can top
  12. With road cycling it is a Q of how much do you want to spend .Shimano Tiagra works fine and I will start there .Fulcrum 7 wheel set works fine and is strong but heavy .You will be able to find a groupset and wheels on the hub classifieds before the event
  13. Ask for receiver foam at any radio control hobby store and wrap your stuff in it with an elastic band .Best is a foam pipe http://www2.gpmd.com/image/h/hcaq1000.jpg
  15. Why not do Babbas this weekend .August is so far still .Thre is a 10 ,20 35 65km option .Always well supported and good place to start your MTB career .You can enter on raceday .You need a bike ,kit ,helmet ,puncture kit ,Water bottle ,sunblock, R200 for entry and something to eat afterwards.Cycleevents have details and road map
  16. No ,but a 6 year old can pick that up and run it looks so light
  17. I thought OP meant Opening Paragraph .As a ultimate hubber even i learnt something today .I was to embarrassed to ask what OP stood for .More importantly ! If you are female you need to post some raunchy pic on the Ladies and bicycles thread .It is compulsary!
  18. Then that carbon s-works is not for us in the buffelo catagory .I think now we are getting somewhere in this thread
  19. I have plenty power like John Smit .Won,t notice a bit of loss here and there .It might make a difference to a skinny capetonian thou
  20. We don,t do stuff like that in Gauteng .We ride everything hard and then the shop fixes what had broken and repeat !
  21. I don,t turn that much when i ride .I mainly keep everything in a straight line ,brake ,put my foot down ,turn the bike and carry on .For small bumps i ride with flattish tyres and my fork has always been on something called lockout .What you have discribed sounds like an erectile disfunction
  22. XTR,s are soft and made for pro,s that replace them every couple of months ,not for us and certainly not for RSA dusty conditions
  23. Pedals need to be lubed also .Then the creaking that leads to the itch will stop .Look pedals will also make noises if they are neglected
