I would just love to know what a noob,s experience is like if you do this as a first event .Are you doing half or full marathon ?

Did Babbas again and really enjoyed the new route .Lots of fast flowing single tract and enough room if you want to race it

I checked the effective top tube for a large is 630cm .I am 6,4' and all my bikes have an effective top tube of 640cm .So the size is OK .I pump my fox ctd rear shock 235psi for my weight of 99kg .While training for MM in 2 weeks i experimented with shock lockout today at klapperkop tower route .My conclusion is that my climbing was better with both shocks unlocked when it is really rocky .Worst is when both are locked , the front starts drifting and bouncing ,Rear loses traction quicker .Flat surface climbs do better when both are locked

I have owned 2 giant anthems and now on a Tallboy ,all with the same wheel set and XT group set . There is another post where I compared these 2 bikes .Santa cruz do not have to sponsor every 2d epic rider to sell there bikes .They sell themselves .I service my bikes once a year with minimal cost ,especially the tallboy .It is as reliable and robust as a steel framed single speed and does everything exceptionally well .It puts a smile on my face every time I ride it

I agree .A lot of riders only enter in the morning like babbas .I for one was planning to do that

A lot of MA have ER24 as their rescue sevice provider .They include ambulances and helicopter evac .If your policy include their service ,that is who you call

Maybe they will try something new .Will do any of those stages again

Took my Tallboy out for a 4h ride today .Man! I always have a smile when I ride this bike .I really like Pyga to .Vipa is also a good bet .I have yet to meet a unhappy Tallboy owner

Having a good seeding changed a lot of things for the better .If i was a late entry and i am not going to be seeded ,i would much rather go ride with friends

For 3k you can get an on one inbred frame SS READY STEEL FRAME For under 10k you can build it with good parts and have something that rides well enough to be used as your go to bike

Ditto !Plus bad route prep like markings and leaving wires ext in the route .To avoid bottlenecks your seeding has to be good .For good seeding you need to race hard for at least 6 months in different events .I try and do the events that suit me so I can maintain my B seeding .It really sucks when you get stuck behind slower riders and there is nothing you can do ,not even an Evans pass.For a day event I will drive maximum 1 hour

My Ss cost less to build than my other bike,s wheelset and is my favorite .I do believe getting the proper frame will make the whole exersize so much more worthwhile than using leftover parts and frame
