  1. Jinne, hello Oom πŸ‘‹
  2. You could try the 'magic gear' if you are mechanically astute and have the patience 😎 But the best would be to get one these which is elegant and works properly! https://www.rapide.co.za/product/rapide-eccentrick-bb/
  3. "Kleine Leute machen Mist, grosse Leute bauen Mist" Moving passed the 'mist' ... some rides with my boet here from the land of the long white cloud, an absolute privilege!
  4. I don't really bother weighing my bikes since my weight problem has nothing to do with them. To my mind though saving weight on the bike may seem significant as a percentage of its weight but is pretty much insignificant when seen against the total weight you're having to haul along and uphill ... as said unless you're already at 0% body fat it's probably the better place to start. Having said that a light bike is a bloody lekker thing to have and ride!
  5. @TheoG I'm thinking more shifter/derailleur .... the rest I agree
  6. Mmmm ... that'll open a can of worms 😜
  7. I know I'm a bit Grumpy but because of loadshedding I missed the end of the ladies Strade Bianche and all of the men's ... only thing I'm disappointed about is not seeing Puck get 6th!
  8. The legs are coming back πŸ€ͺ - everything doesn't hurt so bad anymore Fitting run in to the weekend Strade 'Bianchi' and the Ducati show 😎
  9. At least I know where I stand now but it's all good ... I'll sleep ok tonight
  10. Amen brother! The only way to sort the wheat from the chaff 😎 Based on what I've read here there's a few I'd avoid for sure but that's just me 😜
  11. Yes that sense of some kind of 'community' along with many other things in life has been lost ... each man/woman for themselves I guess πŸ€”
  12. Not everyone that you refer to as 'dealers' identify as such or would like to be categorised as such either. Perhaps to avoid paying some dues that they should to BH classifieds? I've been burnt by them myself 😳
  13. As soon as I get to your age mate!
  14. So to ease the strain on the healing bones and lung decided to check out the option of running 650B wheels with 'monster' tyres as @Pikey calls them. Yip it definitely helps 😎 I know that those wheel builds will give the 'purist' wheelbuilders on the hub sleepless nights but I do apologize in advance 😜
  15. For sure! I have seen a few specialists in the passed few months and he was the one with the most empathy and really tried to understand what it was that was bothering me The rest were just fixing my broken bones and other injuries ... But I'm also old and grumpy 😜
  16. My neuro surgeon told my wife that despite the risks associated with riding I am still better off, mentally and physically, riding than not riding.
  17. No idea but at 61 and having had 3 big one's between Aug and Dec last year my wife reckons 'that's enough'! Won't stop me riding but I'm certainly a lot more 'risk averse' than I've ever ever been 😎
  18. Go Lance! Where's Scotty when you need him 😜
  19. As I've stated before I've ridden a gravel bike with front suspension .... if I needed that for the surface I was riding I would rather ride a hardtail MTB. In fact I very quickly got rid of that setup and went back to a standard hard trail configuration. I love gravel bikes and gravel riding but as I've stated before as well, on the terrain where they belong! I have nothing to prove .... Maar nou ja dis maar seker net ek 😜
  20. Sometimes best to just say nothing ... stil bek is heel bek het my oorle pa altyd gesΓͺ 🀫
  21. The slow return continues ... "Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailleur?"
  22. Personally I've had mixed success with range extenders, when they work they are great though! I found that now and then it helps to get the derailleur to reach the dinner plate but then shifting in the lower half of the cassette is compromised ... could just be me. #NotABikeMechanic
  23. A process has begun... 1/12 (GI Joe) and 2/12 (Steely Dan) "You can train so much easier than you think & still improve" A bit of a mindset change but still happy!
