  1. 4 rides this week so far and caught in the rain every time ... my mate last night says the weather sangomas say there'll be thunderstorms on Sunday so I suppose you'll stay in bed, my wife 'you gotta be kidding, he'll be out' Long gone given up relying on the likes of 'InAccuweather' As an aside disk brakes on road bikes are just 'cool bling' most of the time but they did earn their keep this week [emoji12]
  2. I just hear excuses, if you wanted to get up and ride you would ... make up your mind
  3. I stripped all the parts and bits and pieces off the frame ... he did all the paint prep
  4. I had it done by a spray painter... The same stuff he uses on cars as far as I know!
  5. Cycling can be lonely but in the best kind of way .... took 2 goes to get out the door this morning
  6. Busy with this for a mate, the painting cost R1400 for 2 colors including the 'fade' ... will put up a photo when it's done if anyone is interested
  7. Expect storms in Alberhoughton as it has had a rare outing on the Spruit....
  8. So much for 'enough wood work for now' [emoji12] You know those single speed or other bike projects that start with a 'set of brakes and a fork'? Well how about some old pallet wood and a set of cutlery that was getting thrown out ... One to hang coffee mugs and the other one for keys.
  9. For the movie watchers amongst us ...
  10. Fitted the final touches .... delivered! Very happy Baba [emoji4] Did a 'simple' job (according to my wife) of modifying a 3/4 base into a single for the granddaughter that has progressed from the toddler bed. That's enough wood work for a while!
  11. Just a reminder this morning again that a gravel bike is NOT a mountain bike!
  12. Total contrast to yesterday! @TheoG you're good to go unless you're crossing with a sedan ...
  13. Some may actually get out and ride [emoji12]
  14. Not going that way! Klipriver flowing pretty strong at the moment.
  15. So the 'home made' family toddler bed is now moving on to the 4th child, this over a period of about 6 years ... had a tough life with my second youngest granddaughter and her 2 older brothers! Frozen has to be 'let go' as the littlest granddaughter is a fan of 'Shimmer and Shine'! Strengthened the bottom, tightened all the screws, gave it a good sanding down and with some help from my good mate Matthys we sprayed it the necessary specific light pink as instructed. My wife is a bit behind on the padded headboard insert but I'm told it's 'almost ready!
  16. As a matter of interest is iMessage available (officially) on Android?
  17. Despite 'InAccuweather' (stole that from another thread) showing rain it was a cracker morning out, 'thrombosis' hill!
  18. Ambled round our suburb testing a 'rescued' Garmin ... stopped off to check if this house still had its resident security detail on point If you look close enough you can see it! Alberhoughton a special place for sure [emoji12]
  19. Changed my steel gravel bike from a 1× 42x11-32 to a 2x 44/32×11-32 Only managed a short rain interrupted ride this morning and even then I noticed how much I enjoyed having such a wide range of gears! Should have done it a long time ago ...
  20. As Patch says you had fun and the smile on your little girls face is worth many thousands of kilometers! Keep doing what you're doing.
  21. Went around the block a few times this year [emoji41] - blessed with the health and opportunity to keep riding. I'll be turning 60 this year and have been riding for over 30 years. Looking forward to riding till I can't anymore. Anemiek VV now that's a lot of K's and some serious climbing [emoji15] Cyclingnews.com: Van Vleuten reveals massive year-end training tally. https://www.cyclingnews.com/news/van-vleuten-reveals-massive-year-end-training-tally/
  22. Skud jou kop bietjie, lyk my hy raas!
