  1. Thanks for the feedback Nick, was going to drop you a PM. DT looks good, but as you say, very pricey. Good to hear more positive things with Rapide. Would love some Spanks, but stock is the issue.
  2. 28H hubs really does reduce the options out there. Lyne don't have anything available in there current range though are possibly looking for a future range but 10-12 months away. Csixx and Rapide are on my current list. Rapide having just restocked, and are on top of the list currently.
  3. My rear DT rim is splitting at the rim joint at the bead and leaks sealant, so have had to seal it up. Though to be honest, probably find this could be due to an unlucky placed rock strike on the trail . Also the cheaper M1900 rims and at only 22.5mm ID, will like take the opportunity to fit wider rims when the kitty is built up again.
  4. Yip, paint stirrers
  5. Flying planks rather then fling wing.... aeroplane vs helicopter
  6. This story does surprise me that it didn't make it to the news more quickly He is one of the worst when it comes to speculating on helicopter accidents as all his experience is plank based.
  7. Lots of accidents don't make it to the news, I prefer it that way, with how bad reporting and speculation gets. Also avoid Avcom like the plague with accidents... they great at notifying when one has happened, but the armchair pilots and even worse aeroplane pilots are really really bad at coming up with nonsense hypothesis especially with helicopter accidents.
  8. Might have someone with a set but with 15mm through axle
  9. One comment had it as a fuel blockage to one tank, so emptied the one wing, while leaving the second full but unusable.
  10. Bell and Giro, 3 years with proof of purchase. Replacement cost of 40% or something like that.
  11. From the FB comments "A neighbour of us has asked Councilor Quitas about the gate going up at the Nek. We have been asked to mail our concerns in writing, here is the address if anyone else wishes to make a comment. “Kindly put correspondence in email so that we can together discuss and get feedback which you will site of.”Roberto.Quintas@capetown.gov.za"
  12. Not enough digging from my side then! Maybe I'll go get another one!
  13. Just after rims, happy enough with the DT Swiss hubs that are fitted, though would be nice to do the Star Ratchet upgrade.
  14. Anyone have experience with Deed rims? Have friend with a new set. What do they retail at, as I can't find them listed anywhere...
  15. Orangekloof would be epic, but remember still under the restricted restrictions of 12 users per day, only with permission and member of the hiking club needs to be part of the party or a guide. A struggle enough to get permits in place for other areas on the mountain. But can only be hopefully of one day....
  16. Nope, the other end pops out onto the road Bokkemanskloof, it runs above the other development.
  17. Interesting that this Google Earth pic shows the Pipe track labelled as "Bay Rd"
  18. Having a look around and seeing what options are out there and actually available. I've got a YT Jeffsy with standard DT M1900 rims @ 22.5mm internal width. They getting a bit banged up, the join line on the rear rim has a slight split which weeps sealant and I'd like to try something a bit wider round the 30mm width. Ride mostly AM style maybe Enduro. What would other look at, that are decent, affordable and actually available? Like the Idea of some Spanks, but they don't seem to be available in the required options, Lyne is out of stock a lot and Rapide doesn't even have just rim options available in 29"
  19. Another approach would be to get the local Sentinel Newspaper on to the story, that will get the local public all worked up like they do best in the Republic
  20. Looks like the ERF does extend below the pipe track down to the main road
  21. And for those that gave the Metabo ratchet kit a miss, Bosch has this nice little set. Power Tool Repairs has it at R195 (Builders is R465!?!) https://powertoolrepairs.co.za/bits-sets/3110-screwdriver-bit-ratchet-set-bosch-27-pc.html?cmp_id=12626499537&adg_id=120026669517&kwd=&device=c&gclid=Cj0KCQjwpdqDBhCSARIsAEUJ0hMnV5zzksAuXxi2fiLDclF9kOrVmV-TI46xf9ZEb3EoRw0Ean6fuSQaAjevEALw_wcB
  22. I've got a similar fold up saw that I often carry on my Camelbak. They are brilliant things and people always underestimate them, laugh at me when pull it out on the trail... and then quickly go quiet while I proceed to cut a fallen tree with it. Smaller saplings and branches are a breeze!
  23. I noticed the gate track being layed on the weekend. Can I ask why you say it's in his rights to do so? To the best of my knowledge this land was always part of the roads department and many times over the years they talked about tarring and using it as a bypass for Constantia Nek. My feeling is that a precedent has been set over the last couple decades, as it has always been open to cyclists and walkers, even being using to get around accidents when the Nek has been closed. They have put up fences in the past, but they have always been removed! Never felt safe cycling up the Nek and the pipe track was always my route having grown up in Hout Bay. Think a petition is in order. Is the erf that was sold not only above the pipe track road?
  24. Next in line otherwise, can you some of the stuff.
