  1. There is no other aircraft in SA with the correct calibration equipment. An aircraft has been arranged apparently and is on its way from Europe this month, but had some delays due to snags and then the crew needing to isolate for 2 weeks on arrival.
  2. And here the CAA are asking me for the permits for the flights I did during lockdown when I sent in my logbook copies for a license renewal!
  3. Either way, with or without alternatives the whole situation is not acceptable and just another victim of politics and flipping government tenders. Hopefully that plane gets here sooner rather then later. The scary thing is for instance, the go around procedure for the ILS at Cape Town requires the VOR at Robben Island RIV as well as CTV, nothing is NOTAM'ed about a revised procedure with RIV being u/s and the other day CTV was also down! Just use the same plate dated 2007. Spoke to our ATC friends and they don't even have an updated procedure, but would give one on request if pilots asked on the radio.
  4. Exactly what they did in George after the accident, all approaches went RNAV. ILS is not the only approach available, just the most accurate, as it provides Azimuth position and a Glideslope. Most will have a secondary plate available based on VOR which is only Azimuth. The VOR on Robben island has been u/s for possibly over a year now.
  5. First thing I'd look at is the beans. I'm not a fan of the woolies beans to start with, they aren't very full bodied or flavorful in my opinion, though they seem the go to for a very large percentage of bean to cup users. I find a dark crema to be quite bitter, prefer a nice caramel colour. This will depend on the beans you use though. Try get some fresh beans from the likes of Deluxe Coffeeworks or chat to Nerd for a couple bags. If store bought is all you can get, try out Checkers single origin Guatemala or Colombian for a change in flavours.
  6. Post a swap ad in the classifieds for the dropper post, will get a bit more exposure. Had some luck swapping out gear before.
  7. Where did you get the graphics? Price? Please also feedback in the Debonair springs once you have had a chance to ride them
  8. Unfortunately didn't work in our case, we did try
  9. Copy of ID will also work. Did for us at least
  10. If it's cage then as Diesel said, pop a nut on the other side, otherwise cage parts are replaceable.
  11. Heli coil or see if you can fit a longer bolt. Don't forget the lock tight
  12. Walk into Stoke suspension works and there isn't an RS service kit that is not hanging on the wall. Wiper kits have also always been cheaper for RS over Fox
  13. That's a Bell 206 L1 Long Ranger, reg ZS-RGW. Been around the block that machine, my flight school used to operate in in CT about 10 years back. A Long Ranger, especially the L1 is not a machine for the mountains and altitude with any load (an L4 version is another animal) Squirrel is designed for that kind of work and will actually carry 4 bikes, pax and gear.
  14. Friends that own an AS350 wanted to start a heli cycling setup in CT but insurance was ridiculous which made it not viable
  15. Got a mate in need of a 180mm (6 bolt) disc and post mount adapter if anyone has lying around to go to a good cause
  16. Apparently those frames are "Bomb proof"
  17. Phoenix is another one of the big boys that closed their doors. Was a great sim and the DX6i an ugly but very capable, user friendly radio. Compatible with Orange RX and Lemon receivers.
  18. How many Tokens you running?
  19. Yip JR under, Thunder Tiger also gone under.... even looking at the mighty HobbyKing online store these days that was the go to for everything, they now only have one 450 size heli kit, it doesn't include blades and HobbyKing don't carry a single 450 size blade any more when we used to have a choice of a hundred. Li-Po's can now also only be sent via courier. Batteries are making the hobby very expensive, most of my heli'd have sat on the shelf just for lack of affordable power packs (and time). A Cathay pilot friend was bringing me some batteries and then lockdown hit
  20. Airlink are one of the few that will ask people to move seats for Mass & Balance purposes. This normally based on the booking seat configuration and not what the hostie sees. Planning in the airlines is all done on a set of standardized weights layed out by the CAA
  21. Basically a digital temperature controller, replaces the bimetallic thermo switch. So increase accuracy (Proportional-Integral-Derivative and all the rest Splat said)
  22. First time flying today in almost 2 months, couldn't have asked the weather gods for better weather! Ferry from CT to Springbok. Lots of, "what does this button do again?"
  23. Your machine very likely needs to be de-calcified. You can either get the special tables and run the solution the machine, otherwise make a solution with citric acid. I normally use about 2 tablespoons in 1L of water and cycle it through the machine, let it sit for a while, cycle again an them rinse properly by flushing through lots of fresh water.
  24. @the nerd Thanks for the coffee! Holy Roller made for a great Cappuccino!
  25. Know they where seen in Jhb dropping medical supplies and collecting military supplies from Denel.
