  1. Rebuilt my wheels with new rims, hassle was mostly with undoing the straight pull spokes, once cleaned and lubed had surprisingly little hassle with the straight pull spokes spinning. Used a strip of masking tape as a flag to track any spinning or twisting.
  2. If you have no coffee kit, grinder etc, and don't really want the hassle of falling down the rabbit hole of the endless search for the perfect espresso, then the Breville machine is the way to go. I have a Gaggia Classic and old MDF grinder and super happy with it. But must admit I've been quite impressed when I have used the Breville machines friends have. As a package it's well set out, with grinder and a tamper etc included and stored in the machine with a magnet. Definitely more customisable then a bean to cup, which I feel always sacrifices quality for convenience. (Maybe it's just those rubbish 1kg Woolies beans that every bean to cup machine seems to run!)
  3. Guys on youtube make some interesting jigs and levers to get those rails back in place. I gave it a try once on a seat and decided it wasn't worth the effort.
  4. Rebound circuit likely has a worn seal, air has got in where it is not supposed to be. Makes a squiggy sound.
  5. Anyone in CT want to swap their standard direct SRAM style mount chain ring in 30/32T for my oval 32T?
  6. Bike will get liberated from you long before it becomes a problem
  7. https://www.triptychresources.co.za/ Don't forget these guys, they specialise in bikes
  8. Who does Knipex tools locally? I've seen RS-online which seems decent and know of one or two niche stores.
  9. The Bosch Professional 18V drill/ hammer/ impact driver is often on special. Builders is often your best bet when on sale, as they have the bulk buying power, they were R1400 with battery and charger just last week, though think that sale is over now.
  10. A lowers service should make the world of difference. At 60hrs (<1 year) you might get away with not replacing the wipers. Stoke normally has a stock of SKF seals and will be able to advise what you need. Likely lipless. At minimum you will need a tub of Sram Butter, Castrol Magnetec 5W-30 as a replacement for Rockshox 15Wt, then some isoprop alc to clean the bits with. A lowers service is fairly simple to do and manuals are available.
  11. Think they have actually done you a favour ????
  12. Shimano's spec sheets shows those hubs to be fitted with sealed cartridge bearings? Where is your info from indicating "non-sealed" cup and cone? Also the Giant rear you mentioned it's supposed to come with say "loose ball" which is cup and cone. Personally I'd prefer the Shimano over Giant unit, as spares will be much easier to find, freewheel units etc. as you won't have to rely on the Giant supply and support chain but rather get the universal coverage of Shimano.
  13. If you do try bend it back, heat the metal with a torch first. Some metals like aluminium will tend to break if bent back, if you heat it there will be a temperature at which it will turn soft and easy to bend allowing you to bend it back without it snapping.
  14. Rims are a bit tricky to find stock in 28H currently, besides DT. I've just bought a set of the Rapidé 30mm ID rims and laced them up, but haven't had them on long enough to give feedback on longevity. Enjoying the extra width coming from DT 22.5mm.
  15. Buy the Avalanche above for R2500 before he changes his mind! Good condition, with basic but fairly dependable components that beat any Makro special. Unfortunately bikes, especially second hand are way over valued at the moment due to a complete shortage worldwide.
  16. Drop a mail to admin@onlinecoffeeshop.co.za they helped me out a couple weeks back, 58mm should be easy to get.
  17. Do you know the size of the basket?
  18. Good to know, thanks! Only fitted the quad ring as I happened to have the right size in stock.
  19. Will probably do this. Just done the first ride on my wider rims, so I'll swap the damper over after I've done a couple more rides to make sure I'm isolating the changes, an they not contributed to the wheels.
  20. Damn thing won't die, thought I was pushing it getting 5000km already! I want to fit the larger range 11 speed cassette I have
  21. This is what I've heard and why I'm hesitant to just do the swap.
  22. Wouldn't call this a bodge repair, it was simply a u-cup seal that was complete toast. Replaced it with a quad ring and a small o-ring as a spacer. Been running those quad rings on various Reverb dropper post pistons with great success for a while now. Charger 1 I've done a rebuild myself about a year ago and have the bleed tools etc
