  1. @Nerd who in CT do you send your coffee to? Wouldn't mind giving it a try!
  2. SAAF also has a couple CASA 235's they also inherited
  3. I think Vasbyt is in my 5km radius, but Tokai will be simple to figure out... no one at SANParks is going to unlock the pedestrian gate. Greenbelts it is, me and half of the Southern Suburbs!
  4. Yip had this happen to friend / colleague a couple of year back while working at the Waterfront. Had been feeling tired and not himself for a while, when for a check up at the doc and got told he had Type 1 diabetes! Just like that, flying career over. Thankfully still young and had loss of income insurance in place.
  5. On the plus side, my commute as essential services is an absolute dream, not a car in sight and can enjoy all the twists and turns I want!
  6. Don't own one, but have ridden one extensively. A good mate has one and when ever he would go on contract it was left with me to "keep the battery charged" no matter how many km that took. Such a great bike, feels like you riding a couch! Lots of torque low down and very comfortable. Just don't park it on even 1 degree of inclines if you plan to reverse it out, flip that thing is heavy to back out!
  7. FlySafair came and did ground runs on their 737's at CT this morning
  8. Eerie having the airport so quiet, not an APU to be heard. Mango, BA and Safair have a couple 737's parked on the apron at CT and Airlink has 2 E190's and 3 E145's parked at Stellenhof. No large parking areas like ORT.
  9. Most of Airlink's E190's are parked at Signature according to one of the pilots. I'll try take some pics on Friday when I go in to the GA Going to be helping out with some Maritime EMS standby
  10. Mate of mine flying helicopters in Nepal just received a letter of termination of his contract effective from April due to the economic affect of Corona
  11. Rescue in Du Toits kloof on the weekend apparently, SAAF and AMS both involved.
  12. https://bikemob.co.za/collections/tyres/products/chaoyangrockwolffbspstr29x23560tpi Chaoyang produces tires for various brands, the likes of Spez being one of them
  13. Chaoyang Rock Wolf, running one on the rear of my Jeffsy and have been very impressed so far at the price point. Grips up very nicely in the current summer conditions in Tokai. BikeMob can get them in for you otherwise Stoke Suspension had a couple last week for R450. Bought an extra to keep in the cupboard
  14. @Slowbee how did the intro go
  15. Owner is a Hubber, used to be Nerd's machine...
  16. Last medivac from a vessel, a new crew member from Asia had to be brought to shore, MRCC requested we take full precautions for Corona virus.
  17. Air sickness not normally a problem when flying yourself. If it is an issue, it normally goes away after a couple hours training
  18. Paint stirrer is the other one i've been told
  19. In CT you only have one option for rotary these days, that with Aviation Pilot Training now based at Fisantekraal, no one at Cape Town int any more. APT was there but moved to there current base last year. Heli - Closed Heli-X - Closed Base4 - Closed Civiar - Closed I just got back to CT this week, shout if you want to chat fling wing over beer/ coffee/ riding... can oggle some helis if you like too. Will send you my details over PM
  20. A big percentage of aircraft don't have the Garmin terrain equipment fitted. The terrain warning stuff is fairly new, much like your Sling is fairly newly built. Even then its not like synthetic vision, you just have yellow for <1000ft and red for <500ft. A heli for most instances cruises at 1000ft so yellow is the norm. I have only flown 2 machines in past with the system built i. A rebuilt AS350 B3 Squirrel with a G500, fitted (rats at the instrument wiring while it was hangered in Africa for 3 years, G500 was cheaper then fixing the old stuff) the other is a 2018 EC130 T2 factory fresh. Even the EC145 in CT doesn't have Garmin terrain fitted, we use a portable unit if you go fly in the pitch black at night. I used I portable unit most of my ops at the moment any way. New Garmin integrated system fitted to a King Air just cost someone I know R1.8 mil
  21. Mate of mine used to fly ZS-SUW, private Premier flying out of CT. Think the owner now has a Falcon
  22. Probably needs a proper strip down. The agents for Gaggia in CT are in the Foundry Centre in Green Point. Got seals from them when I rebuilt my 80's Gaggia Coffee. Did the work myself though, got it freshly powder coated and all.
  23. Dropped you a PM. Got an itch.
  24. Helicopters should all be ZS-Hxx or ZS-Rxx series, but the CAA have run out so all the newly registered machines are ZT-Hxx and ZT-Rxx
  25. What happens when you the newbie co-pilot... sandbag for winch training. My previous gig in CT. Still freelance there a bit.
