  1. In CT you only have one option for rotary these days, that with Aviation Pilot Training now based at Fisantekraal, no one at Cape Town int any more. APT was there but moved to there current base last year. Heli - Closed Heli-X - Closed Base4 - Closed Civiar - Closed I just got back to CT this week, shout if you want to chat fling wing over beer/ coffee/ riding... can oggle some helis if you like too. Will send you my details over PM
  2. A big percentage of aircraft don't have the Garmin terrain equipment fitted. The terrain warning stuff is fairly new, much like your Sling is fairly newly built. Even then its not like synthetic vision, you just have yellow for <1000ft and red for <500ft. A heli for most instances cruises at 1000ft so yellow is the norm. I have only flown 2 machines in past with the system built i. A rebuilt AS350 B3 Squirrel with a G500, fitted (rats at the instrument wiring while it was hangered in Africa for 3 years, G500 was cheaper then fixing the old stuff) the other is a 2018 EC130 T2 factory fresh. Even the EC145 in CT doesn't have Garmin terrain fitted, we use a portable unit if you go fly in the pitch black at night. I used I portable unit most of my ops at the moment any way. New Garmin integrated system fitted to a King Air just cost someone I know R1.8 mil
  3. Mate of mine used to fly ZS-SUW, private Premier flying out of CT. Think the owner now has a Falcon
  4. Probably needs a proper strip down. The agents for Gaggia in CT are in the Foundry Centre in Green Point. Got seals from them when I rebuilt my 80's Gaggia Coffee. Did the work myself though, got it freshly powder coated and all.
  5. Dropped you a PM. Got an itch.
  6. Helicopters should all be ZS-Hxx or ZS-Rxx series, but the CAA have run out so all the newly registered machines are ZT-Hxx and ZT-Rxx
  7. What happens when you the newbie co-pilot... sandbag for winch training. My previous gig in CT. Still freelance there a bit.
  8. Rare offshore coffee break
  9. Flying paint stirrers, we don't know how to file flight plans and get altitude sickness when under area control! Flying for Cape Town Helicopters up the West coast on offshore ops, actually in Luderitz at the moment for a couple more weeks. Occasionally do freelance at Aerios Global on my rotations home.
  10. VAT is normal on imports, then a standard handling fee. Duties should not apply to bike parts, but only to complete bikes.
  11. First impressions are great. Set up tubeless first time with just a floor pump, easiest tubeless I've ever done. Taken it for 2 rides now on the back of my Jeffsy in Tokai, not super fast rolling, but that's not to be expected, still rides well though. On the down and twisty stuff I'm extremely happy, grips up incredibly well even I'm the dry and dusty conditions up I'm Tokai at the moment.
  12. Picked one up today, let's see what happens.
  13. Heard it from the horses mouth. I'm not an Importers fan either, though agree that Checkers single origin does win my vote every time when it comes to supermarket coffee. Only part truth. Aeropress just makes your coffee taste so much better. It's my go to when I don't have my espresso machine, and goes on contract with me always.
  14. Just as a little bit of useless information Checkers single origin coffees and various house brands is in fact made for them by Importers coffee
  15. Thanks for the feedback, sound like there aren't many who have given them a go
  16. Came across the Chaoyang Rock Wolf tire advertised on a local online store, but can't find any reviews or much information at all about them. Anyone actually had any first hand experience. I know if the brand and that they make tires for the likes of Spez etc and occasionally someone uses their Hornet tire, but that's about it. Interested particularly in feedback on the Rock Wolf
  17. Agree with you completely. Got a grinder, but till "splat" manages to get one it better then ground from PnP or Woolies
  18. Very very nice, sure you going to be very happy with it. Takes a little getting used to the dosing, tamping etc, but very rewarding when you get it right. I only used my double basket, most do. Deluxe Coffee works is another good place for beans. They will also grind for you.
  19. its more like actually having wheels on your bike....
  20. If you see a pilot with one in there hand... walk away ????
  21. That is a pair of wire locking pliers. Every aviation engineer has one in their tool case. Something so satisfying about using a pair
  22. Welcome to the YT club Hairy!
  23. Anyone got a spare road bike rim stashed in the garage? 32H 700c Rim only is good, but whole wheel works to. Guys pushed a row of trolleys into my commuter bike rim and now I have a taco.
  24. That's the going price on a fork service unfortunately. If you are slightly technical, you can do it DIY. First service will be a bit expensive, Del Ray suspension fluid from a motorbike shop, Castrol from Midas for fork oil, some SRAM butter and of course a seal set from your LBS. The lubricants you can at least use for a bunch of services, a seal set is about R250-300 depending where you get it (Fox R500+). I'll confirm which weight suspension fluid and grade of Castrol. Bottles are just not with me at the moment. (All recommended by our suspension guru Droo)
  25. Think these are carbon frames too. New so Warranty would still stand.
