  1. I have only heard great feedback about this mountain fun, would you also recommend it?
  2. Full time science teacher No coach Do not log miles Do not record notes Do not have a gps watch, only a timex watch with a timing function. And 24 hour training runs...
  3. I wonder how the training schedule inbetween looks... https://www.instagram.com/p/BnkXqefDIxB/?taken-by=courtneydauwalter Court finished the Tahoe 200 in 49:54:36, second place overall and 18 hours ahead of the course record! Check out a preview of this amazing course, and a battle of a race!
  4. Perhaps worth mentioning... 1. On June 23, she was the first woman to cross the line at the prestigious Western States 100-Mile Endurance Run in northern California. Her time — 17 hours, 27 minutes — was the second-fastest for a female in that race’s history. 2. 7 Sep - 328km Lake Tahoe race 3. 6 weeks later this 452km effort 4. Between the Western States and Lake Tahoe was a mellow July and two little races of 80km and 50km's in August.
  5. Dit is. Hulle vang jou elke jaar! 800 in the last half hour...
  6. I will be very surprise if this comrades entries makes a week. 3064 already and every time you refresh it is 50 more!
  7. I agree. There are runners that will never run a BR, but will have an incentive now to work for a sub 10. Agree with the qualifying time as well
  8. For interest sake, how many km's does those soles give?
  9. I am biased but I have 2 x 9's sets and 1 x 10. Even if you decide on something else later, you can always use these as your trainers and they won't let you down I recon if he also advises them. My first pair from 10/2016 has 1,350km on them now and I cannot see retirement soon. This km's at their price and how much I like them, I recon is a good buy!
  10. Nothing wrong with that! FWIW, when we went to see him we were on Nikes. He recommended for me in the following order, Saucony Ride, Asics Nimbus or Brooks Ghost. I went the Brooks route and till this day I am very happy. I did get a pair of Saucony Triumphs along the way out of my own homework and like them a lot as well. It seems he does not carry a wide variety of stock and brands, being a smaller shop, so I guess he has his preferences on brands, which makes it very valid what you say, if you would want to look at Adidas etc for example. I agree he is a very good guy to go see as well.
  11. If you want to stretch that 5k a bit more, then you can get this... https://www.takealot.com/garmin-fenix-3-sapphire-hr-grey/PLID42257002 Just keep an eye out, they are on daily deals a lot now as they are to be discontinued with the 5 out. It was on for R5,600 a few weeks back. Just go and fit them, as the fenix is bigger and heavier than the very lightweight 235.
  12. Same here. I went with the 230 instead of the 235 for the 13 hours vs the 11 hours battery life. I will buy any one of these two in a heartbeat, VERY happy. FWIW, I presume you refer to the HR strap? Mine is two years old now and still perfect. I do rinse it from time to time and wash as per their instructions. If you talk about the watch strap, well that is like new still in my case.
  13. Amen. I only eat real food, full stop.
  14. Dave, I was under the impression that it does not have maps like the Garmin Fenix?
  15. I don't understand why he just did'nt knock it off now and get it over with. The man was clearly jogging!
  16. Was it? Was the starting list this year not +- 16,000 vs +-14,000 last year? But I agree on the importance of the cheque book as well.
  17. Cannot see that they will change it with the size of the field now.
  18. I'm on the same program. Doing much better with way less km's and runs but better quality. Being rested makes the world of difference in my case.
  19. On the subject... I read an article of an interview with one of the two record holders of the most comrades runs before this years'. Where he went on about how the comrades is still 11 hours in the books of their old timers and that is what they finish it in, they don't do the 12 hours thing... Well, funny thing is the comrades results page... Beware what you say I guess.. haha
  20. FWIW: I do not have a 4:15 qualifying time under my name, but I do have a 11:38 and a 10:53 finishing time...
  21. Every run I do in my Saucony Triumphs just remind my how much I like them, considering that I really like my Brooks as well. (Perhaps worth mentioning I did lose one toenail on the down Comrades this year in the Brooks.) It is just so difficult with no one stocking Saucony here in Bloem, you have to order them. It is just not the same if you can't fit them beforehand.
  22. Agreed and making sure there is enough bins along the route, even in the middle of the road if need be.
  23. Weird, my first pair of 9's have almost 1,300 on and the second pair has 800 on. Not even the 1,300 is close to retirement and I am normally heavy on shoes.. My 10's is on 250. Apart from the Saucony's which I also love, I don't see myself getting other shoes in the near future, but obviously shoes is a personal thing.
  24. I have this question as well, but could not get a clear answer as yet. If you continue to run with itb, what you cause permanent damage and what it?
  25. Ok, so the one change that is fantastic is the multiply card, where we can actually pay for our vitamins now as well, no more claims. Does anybody have a method to pay for vitamins that is not at a prescribed supplier like dischem, for example mannatech, out of their healthsaver?
