  1. This is the weird thing, my wife has wide feet. The pairs that she eventually did Omtom and Comrades in last year was NB 1260, 2E - wide fit and even they gave her hectic blisters and black toenails. She went up another have size with the ghosts for exactly the width reason and they were perfect this weekend. Shoes are such a personal (trail and error) thing
  2. My wife has both. Started off in Ravenna after a assessment at SBR sport, she pronates. Ravenna is a very light stability, apparently unique in it's class. She liked them as well. It did start to also give her blisters later on, but this might be due to her wearing the shoes off to the inside with her pronation. She tried a neutral pair as an experiment now and says the ghost 10's is the best fit of everything she ever had. Did a marathon in them on Saturday with 100km's on them and it is the first blister free long run in her history. She love them! Time will tell is they perhaps also wear off to the inside and start with blisters, but as far as the shoe goes, she loves it!
  3. Ahh, apparently I don't do pictures well Thanks
  4. That's the thing. When I click on "add a description" (edit) it does not open the edit screen.
  5. Only is you are fine with being average...
  6. Anybody else unable to change their shoes on Strava runs? Both myself and my wife's profiles does not allow us to "Add a discription" and change our shoes of our run on Saturday.
  7. I have found that, at least for beginners, the planned, structured, short walks helps you a lot. It must obviously be trained as well and you must know yourself and your limits. Especially my wife benefits from this. If we go out to quick and without any structured (and stick to your times) walks she suffers, but if we do this she manages with the long ones much better. In fact we end the second half nice and strong. We do walk very fast as per norm and obviously train this even more. There was a LOT of times in Comrades where we walked behind bunches that tried to run (shuffle) inclines and we walked right behind them the whole way up. It is also planned around water tables where we normally have something to eat quickly as well etc, but we stick to the short allowed time of walking and then we go again. Same goes for later on if you get tired and have an unplanned walk, we try to adapt our walks/runs then with the unplanned ones to make up time again. All of this said, obviously the need for walks become less often and shorter as time goes on and fitness comes along!
  8. In my little experience the one thing I see not being given enough credit and done often enough at the right times as well is rest. What I have seen for example in my own case: I was advised to do nothing last year before our first comrades thanks to itb. I had 10 runs which totaled to 106kms in the whole of May. We had an absolutely fantastic rested day of Comrades, FWIW. For further reference: Jan-156 Feb-178 Mar-172 Apr-223 (Including Omtom)
  9. I'm currently following his "rather under trained programme"
  10. Nope, never again... Just get the immune system as strong as possible. (Something I have been neglecting the last 4 months)
  11. So active days picked up my evening RUN last night! What worse than that is that I only scored 72% for it. Seems I am a reckless runner!
  12. I pack my case your honor.... ONLY a 65km week... Either you guys havn't read Bruce's latest blog entry or there is going to be a lot of silver cormades medals coming from this forum! That stinking feeling when you wake up on a Monday morning of qualification week with a damm cold.. :cursing:
  13. Thanks for this. I was not aware of this race, this looks VERY NICE!!! I like the date, as you can make it a long weekend! Definitely on the to do list!
  14. What does that mean? Not a 100km week, but only a 50km one?
  15. Does any of you have experience with Momentum short term insurance?
  16. Nou toe nou... We are registered for the 42, but will downscale to the Ottosdal 21 as well, due to December training and ITB issues that had other plans. Looking forward to a very lekker camping weekend again.
  17. 32km run the week before a marathon. ????. I’m doing this taper thing wrong. ????
  18. Please let us know what they say about this as well, my mother still has a Samsung S4 mini and has the same issue
  19. Excuse the ignorance... Is this the only pharmacies where you will be able to use this new wonderful visa card of them to use your savings? Asking because the two on that list in Bloem is MILES from me and for our family in Kimberley, Kimberley does not even have a pharmacy on there, but Kuruman, Kakamas and Vryburg in the Northern Cape does?
  20. :cursing: :cursing: Thanks Gen
  21. You start the next year on the level you finished the previous year yes. Then you have to qualify again for that level during this year!
  22. Where exactly do you intent do shove that tantrum list of yours? If you need any help, please just give us a shout!
  23. Well then I really don't understand, cause I activated it a week ago and only have one safe day thus far. As far as I can see it was the day I did not drive at all. I was still on leave however and the days that I did drive, was less than 2 km per day only to the PnP and back for example!
  24. Agreed, the points sheets and everything was easier to understand in previous years. I cannot imagine how elderly people must struggle this year. This is a REAL horse butt system now... Seeing that I must by looking into my own eyelids, can someone please explain to me what qualifies as a safe day? Gen, perhaps you can ask them this..... Myself and my wife both bank at Absa. Although we have our own accounts, we only have one internet banking login and I have full authority on her account. Our accounts are linked on that one profile. Now the Multiply money does not accept the same login details on her app as it obviously states that the login has already been used?
