  1. This looks nice https://www.facebook.com/pg/UitsoekSky/photos/?ref=page_internal http://www.runnersworld.co.za/events/uitsoek-skymarathon/
  2. I have yes and I also get the same kind of prices from my local. Was just wondering if there was something that I hoped I missed in Multiply where you can use your Health savings for you shoes as well, like Vitality, getting them for free in other words.
  3. Indeed, but this craziness is nothing new... Skyrun is R3,900. Otter is R4,600. Hell it costs R150 just to get onto the waiting list...
  4. Not sure why (or perhaps it does) the other two links don't show. Especially the 2016 Race one.
  5. WOW, just WOW... https://www.facebook.com/ultratrailcapetown/videos/595893140597174/ https://www.facebook.com/ultratrailcapetown/videos/643635739156247/
  6. Approach changed? I don't want to derail the thread, but then again it should add value for other guys looking for running shoes. http://www.edgarsactive.co.za/product-category/men/men-footwear/ The only shoe that I can see there that they stock that you will find in a running shop is the Nike Winflo and the only running shop that may stock that as well is Sportsmans. And that is hardly a high mileage trainer. So no, they don't stock the type of shoes that I'm looking for to run marathons up to Comrades. I do realize you only need a R500 pair of Mr Price sport shoes to break the Comrades record, but then again I don't aim to break the Comrades record. Takelot has some, but also none of the options I'm looking at. It's sorry that Multiply does not have this like Vitality has, but this is certainly not a "Multiply-deal-breaker"! The bold editing came with the copied post, but I like your way of thinking. Although that chasing will not work up nearly the sweat that running does!
  7. I was referring to Edgars and I stand by that point. They don't stock a running shoe that I would buy for a 5km parkrun, not the stores I have been to. If I came across incorrectly, that is not how I meant it. I was asking the initial question to learn, so please do change my approach as to where in the Edcon group I should go buy running shoes to the likes of Brooks, Saucony, New Balance etc... In Bloemfontein... Edcon Stores. Edgars, Edgars Shoe Gallery, Edgars Active, CNA, Jet, Jet Mart, Boardmans, Red Square, Legit, Calvin Klein, Victoria Secret, Lucky Brand, Dune, Green Elephant, Salsa, Tom Tailor, Topshop, Geox, Lipsy, TM Lewin, Dr Martens, Vince, River Island, Express, Jigsaw.
  8. I run marathons, I'm not looking for hip hop retro sneakers.. LOL
  9. Basicly just takelot IIRC then.
  10. Just to be sure I'm not missing another thick with Momentum... There is no way that you can get running shoes out of your Multiply like Discovery have with Sportsmans?
  11. In fact get used to it, taking how our comrades training programme went this year... As long as there is no niggles or issues yes!
  12. Where the butt muscles is normally also sore if the itb shows up, was not the case the last while. This is the sore muscles and where it starts, before I feel the itb as well.. The area of No1 in this pic. About from 60/70% up from the bottom, right past behind the little bone on the side under the knee (not itb bone) into the back of the knee.
  13. So the Itb is officially back... Since my cortisone injection in July I did my exercises, took it easy and had 6 x 20+ runs in total. 3 weeks back I felt something but it seemed to me that perhaps my Brooks causes this and not the Saucony's. Then last weekend we had a mountain race in Lady Grey, serious climbing to start off with and then hard decent. I picked it up on the decents. Then I rested last week and did a 21 yesterday. The funny part is I have this stiffness in the outside of my calf, the muscle there that goes right up into the back of the knee. That is stiff and sore, but then the last 3 kms was definately the itb again. The rest of yesterday afternoon it was damm sore. So I guess the workload just got too much and I was rather chuffed at how it went the last 2.5 months. Nice timing these crappy injuries, with a 32 coming up this weekend and our qualifying marathon in a month.
  14. Search skills are letting me down... Does anybody use the race number magnets instead of pins through expensive apparel? https://www.sportsmanswarehouse.co.za/product/capestorm-number-magnets/4095
  15. I had a look on their UK website, the apparel looks good!
  16. I could not get this as yet. An orthotist said I must get myself the wave riders (just like he advises all his clients apparently). I got a pair from my running shop and tried them on the treadmill. I feels like a plank strapped underneath your foot...
  17. Eish, there is this one top I wanted that were out of stock this year on the Saturday...
  18. And there we go guessing tshirt sizes again next year..... In fact, since we chose our sizes already with entry, I hope they are the same as NB...
  19. Everything is on their facebook page. It is 25 years in 2018, so it promises to go big... Here is the programme and the entry forms. - https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/0B_mySsQJLu4GdWFHRVpJb21jRnM There is a few church ground campsites, all the bookings for this goes via Marie Tait as per the entry form. The North church is the closest to the race start and is where the Sunday breakfast is also done. The South church grounds is a bit further (in small town terms) and they have like a cement dam to swim in. We stayed at the South one and was very happy with everything. 20. Entered yesterday and booking the camping as we speak. R75 per person per night. Really enjoy the atmosphere and a well organized race. Lovely breakfast at the church the Sunday morning. Friends of us did the cycle the morning and enjoyed it as well. We downscaled to the 21 last year due to December laziness and loved that as well. We will go for the 42 again next year, seeing that I'm not sure if I will make the qualifying marathon next month with the itbs that is starting to show it head again... If too busy and too flat was your issue with Johnsons, you will not be dissapointed with this local small town race. Very nice carnival atmosphere.
  21. More like a steal, in comparison to the other trail races. And this really puts to shame the profits the other guys make out of the trail races, real ripoffs in some cases.... R180..... http://trailrunning.co.za/event/mnweni-marathon-2017/ http://coachneville.co.za/2017/05/15/world-sanitised-adventure-mnweni-38km-marathon-trail-race-drakensberg-remains-exception-run-hardcore-trail-purists-made-extreme-past-saturday-plun/
  22. Indeed, but I sorted that out with that same thicker Falke socks and a block of Kinesio tape on the inside of my foot where it bothered me on long rus (Does'nt bother on short ones) and that sorted that out, even during Comrades I did not know about it. It looks like it may be sorted in the 10's as well, wider toebox and 2 other small design changes at the front. https://www.solereview.com/brooks-ghost-10-review/ http://www.roadtrailrun.com/2017/06/brooks-ghost-10-review-superb-toe-box.html Currently I'm not sure if my itb starts to niggle in them or if I am just imagining things, where in my saucony's I don't feel anything of my itb. But then again, why did it not give me itb past my qualifying marathon last year and only showed it's ugly head in peak training during Omtom this year. Does not make sense, so perhaps it is just in my head, but I will update this... Kind of in a catch 22 situation again with the training intensifying for our marathon in Nov and me trying to keep the itb from flaring up again. But yeah, I have loved my Ghosts this last year!
