I am too in the process of upgrading from 170 to 172.5 cranks 10sp...(not fitted as yet) I posted some concerns I had as well but the most positive thing to come out of the replies was that guys who have gone from 170 - 172.5 feel good about the upgrade---providing I stay with the 52 ring...

We starting with the Ian Kernick 200k event in 2 weeks time or so...then some other lsd rides planned etc..I intend going back to running in between... "DT"

Still no matter what we say I agree with Oom H & yes I'd like to hear the "other side of the story" having had altercations with motorists myself..be that as it may these guys have further blackened our sport & we all are seen as arrogant violent types...even if some of us actually give way to motorists or obey all rules... Bad days on the bike or days when I don't want to ride I sit back with a good book or work in the garden reflecting on recovery instead of pushing on to nothing positive... "DT"

On the downhills I "accelerated" (blast me if U want) but I have confidence in my bike handling skills to say the least..not that I never took the guy next to me into account which I did that's why when I got into the corners I stayed clear of anyone as best I could...I agree I could have fallen / slid etc but hey did not...It was great fun...& I'll do it again..& again.. Also let me mention to get a good start on the uphills it helped me BUT people were all over the uphills trying to climb/keep upright etc..some were swerving all over the show & not holding their line...what say U here?? that too can take you out ??? Sias the situation is dire...True most say if You not black enough U won't get the position...we agree I guess that this is the way S/A is going. Then again I heard whites still have majority rule in jobs/sport etc... I'm not sure of anyone else here but I'm a Coloured cyclist..fair skinned & n gladde kop hare and yes I went into places reserved for white's only. All my buds are white as well as the club okes...hey I use my choices. ..Dunno about the pay these "non-whites" will get but I can't agree more that it will be lucrative. I don't disrespect development & guys taking part in any Bok squad Pro cycling team... it should be done in the right way & not based only colour but merit indeed.... "DT"

Incorrect Sias----PDI or HDI as it's also known referrs to Indians/Coloureds & Blacks....it makes no distinction between the aformentioned race groups...The only distinction made is between black & white women in business.... As long as there is a player/rider of "colour" they will be happy. Then again as far as BEE is concerned the powers that be is not happy... "DT"

I did some major research into groupsets and its offerings..Campag is by all means top notch for most cyclists...and its the most expensive & you will pay..I know this because I used it before & very reliable as well Sram ---- very innovative but as Scotty said too early to tell ,,,But with both of the above its about looks & lightness... believe me soooo many have it but it's worthless when it comes to them riding their bikes...looks looks looks.... Shimano...what can I say..against it or not you got to admit they got the market by the short & curly's...reliable / smooth & & & & so say what you will... "DT"
