  1. It's rude to evesdrop on conversations you know!!
  2. Go on Ronelle, take a chance
  3. Aw shucks, thanks everybody I was kinda hoping nobody would notice!! But the boys in my team would never let this one slip by unnoticed - I see they sent me a Zimmerframe instead of a new Trek Frame Eish, Might Mouse?? I'm gonna retire the day I beat him - so I think I'll still be racing for many years to come. Narra, it's your birthday today as well isn't it? Happy Happy!
  4. Jason, In the CP file, what is the overall duration of the data? It is possible that you spun the wheel with the CPU on a few hours after your ride and there are a few samples in the file 3 hours later.
  5. Very true, the past few days I have been riding with my Powertap, just collecting data and am astounded by the new insight I have. Took it with me to KZN and went on some really hilly routes and it has shown me just what a weak cyclist I really am. So, before we even get to using it as a training tool I can already see my weaknesses just by analysing my easy rides. Very impressive device IMO. One of the drawbacks of a power meter is that when you are not riding well it becomse a "you-suck-a-meter"
  6. Yesterday on my ride out to Tsitsikamma Toll Gate, I ended up doing the two scenarios on my ride. I rode up Keurbooms at threshold, then inherited a wheel sucker on the way back wanting a free ride, so I decided to see how long he could last Here is the quadrant analysis of the two scenarios: The blue dots are the climb and the green dots are the flat section. It is clear that the climb is more a quadrant II effort, while the flat is more of a quadrant IV effort. This gives an indication that there is a different fibre recruitment pattern happening which could well give rise to different RPE. 7. Deon, Thanks for that. I know what you mean, the only guys in those bunches that get a decent workout are the guys on the front. And they usually don't like anyone else riding on the front, so I tend to ride alone mostly. I'll check Mapsource and figure out some of the route e.g. Natures Valley. Please, if you see me on the road (in Bulk Pack kit) give me a shout! I'll stop, even if it's in the middle of 2x20 I'm staying at Casteton, up on top of the hill, quite close to the N2. I assume the guys meet at the Engen close to the shopping centre?bruce2007-12-21 10:31:44
  8. That sounds great. I'll also be in Plett from 28 Dec till 13 Jan. How long is that ride? Do you have a contact person for that group ride? Looking forward to doing some good mileage while there. I just had a look on Garmin Mapsource - looks like the ride would be about 65km.
  9. I generally prefer to coach people with power meters. I find it very difficult to monitor progress etc on purely HR.
  10. Cool, so it's another Engen2Engen Super Classic
  11. Thanks guys, not really planning to drive to get to the ride routes. Would like to get the riding done and dusted by 7:30 in the morning. I had a look at the route map for the P&P Knysna race, so I'll ride some of that route. Colonel - pity, I go down on Friday and leave the 28th.
  12. So, how was the race? Did your legs recover okay? I think you are going to have to put the cable along the top of the downtube. Alternatively buy some of those plastic liners that people put in their tyres to prevent punctures and tape it over the wires. One of the big problems with the ergomo is that if the wires get damaged the bb has to be sent in for repair - hopefully they sort this problem out soon.bruce2007-12-18 12:42:46
  13. For cables running along the bottom of the downtube I usually cut a 2cm wide strip of duct tape the same as the frame colour. I also tape the speed sensor and bb wire together with electrical type, which then goes under the duct tape. To be really secure, put cable ties on either end of the duct tape strip. You don't have to tighten them so much that they pich the cable because it is already held in place.
  14. Pantani, you don't want to pull that tiger's tail, trust me!
  15. Strictly above board!! I hardly ever resort to removing finger nails or burning the soles of the feet with a blowtorch. Plus, I don't even own a whip!!
  16. Dude, you should never have been *looking* at him in the first place!
  17. It is the BEST idea.. Then also get Bruce to work out the training plans.. just to make sure u get him back for having more interest in the powermeter.. Believe me Bruce's programs really work.. T.S., I thought you weren't going to tell anyone about us
  18. Put it this way, if he doesn't like it there is a thriving market for previously owned, never been used, power meters here on the hub.
  19. Hey spindrift, send me a note at bruce@bikemaxpower.com, I can help you with advice etc.
  20. Have only met Charles briefly, my deepest sympathies!
  21. Can anybody from the EC tell me what the safe training rides are (road riding) starting at Plett. Taking a look at Google Earth it looks to me like the N2 is pretty much the only riding down there. The R340 goes inland but if memory serves me correctly that becomes a dirt road at some point.
