  6. Took the family out mushrooming this arvie. Picked up a few field mushrooms, and one boletus. Found a few more tiny boletes, but left them. I hope the bushpigs don't find them tonight. No pine rings yet though. When do you start finding them in the WC DJR

  10. Thanks for posting on tweeter Uni. I think that it's amazing that the chap returned him, he drove about 200km to return him, and go back home
  11. Noggie was returned to his owner yesterday, a Dept of Home Affairs employee picked him up on Friday, and brought him home yesterday. He went from farm to farm looking for Nog's owner, probably only went to one farm and got sent to JG's farm, as everyone was keeping an eye out for him Safe at home again
  12. Ja you would have, that's his bosses home away from home
  13. Ja Cpt, JR's are crazy, when I ride out on the bike or Moto, my dog follows, so I have to shut her up, that's what we think happened, Nog followed the bike, and as JG lives on the N6, someone must have picked him up.

  15. Mate of mine has lost his Jack Russel, we think he followed him out his farm and must have been picked up on the N6 between Stutterheim and Cathcart, around the Thomas River turn. His name is Nog, and he goes mad around balls. If anyone has any info please PM me with your phone number and I'll contact you ASAP.
  16. I hate this time of the year. I usually take my sheepdog with when I visit my parents, but leave her at home alone over fireworks season. Rather have her shut up in her pen on the farm, than have to deal with the trauma that fireworks cause.
  17. False, you have to learn your mushrooms. Never eat a shroom with white gills though, unless you are positive about id. The 2 deadliest mushrooms in SA have white gills, the death caps. The Death cap is the most poisonous mushroom known.
  18. Strongs, thats never lekker.
  19. I want to get a sod from the poplar bolete soil when I'm there. I don't have them in my poplar grove
  20. These two books are my constant companions in summer. The field guide was chewed by my last Jackie as a puppy, when I left her in the bakkie one day. And the other, Stephens and Kidd's "Some South African Fungi", I found 2nd hand on Netbooks
  21. The tastiest are found under pines, pine rings, and the king, the porcini (Boletus edulus) Termitomyces umkowaan
  22. Hi I'm in the same boat. I pick lots and get to eat them on my own. The family dont know what they're missing. Field mushrooms, iKowa, Boletes, and a buddy needs to show me the horse mushroom. Think I'll take the afternoon off and go pick
  23. Chuckled at this comment from McLaren http://www.espncricinfo.com/new-zealand-v-south-africa-2014-15/content/story/790927.html
  24. Bass are fun on a fly, but you need to be slightly over weighted to get them out of structure before they tangle you up. I've caught bass in a dam that was almost completely covered with weed, on an 8wt. It skidded over the weed. That was on a stocking mission though.
  25. Found this one on my farm, about 25cm across
