  1. Thanks Swiss, that's interesting
  2. Looks like they took a detour
  3. I bought a Merino top from Cape storm last year for winter training. One of my best cycling purchases. It keeps me warm.
  4. That tap has saved me too. I'll be back in December, and now that Schapenberg is off limits, I'll have to ride the Hills.
  5. I've just bought Selle Italia saddle and other bits and bobs from CRC, including Ragley and Yeti dropouts, because Ragley don't have an agent in SA, and Yeti's agents are useless, and don't believe in answering their phones or emails.
  6. Why not??? I'm sure he'd love to have that yellow jersey already. This isn't a 3 week tour, its a short week long tour, and every bit of time gained against your opponents adds up.
  7. Try Dial'd http://dialdbikes.co.za/
  8. Absolutely Naas, I'll only buy from the European shops when they have stupid priced specials, or for products not available locally. Between Evo, CWC, Dial'd and Buycycle, and Easybike, you don't need to buy overseas.
  9. By the same token, Contador just couldn't pass Froome, they are very evenly matched. The next few days will be very interesting.
  10. Managed to watch the last 2km. Great ride.
  11. Gees bru, that's a kaaaak one. What os it with Bloem drivers lately. Hope you heal lekker, and watch that bruise. Light massage and ice.
  12. Wow, that's great of them.
  13. Mass start at 10am, self seeding so make sure you get there early if you are racing. It wasn't too bad for us slowcoaches, except that we couldn't hear the briefing. And it was bloody cold and I'd packed all my warm kit in my box for Bergplaas.
  14. Here is the spot, I don't know how accurate the distance is though
  15. I think you mean when you hit the tar before the neverender, get the dist to the turn after you get to the tar, and you should be fine. There were some chaps that carried on ahead of us last year, we shouted at them, but they were going too fast for us to catch them, they eventually passed us.
  16. The dog on my eldest. She has to sit on you. Has just been kicked off my lap for stinks Loves the fire. I started the gas heater this morning and that's where I found her.
  17. Wow good that Juno is better Pain. Hope he doesn't have another relapse. Wil holding thumbs that your dog gets better. Which is it.
  18. Shot Tubed, will be following this thread keenly. Good luck to all riding, and to you MadMarnitz. Will be following your sleeping? exploits.
  19. Stupid dog jumped into the bath to get one of my daughters toys to play with, and got her jersey wet. O and Fudge enjoying the fire
  20. I think that Malcolm did the right thing. Some people on the forum get all big about packing a fire-arm, BUT what would you do if you got attacked and had the opportunity to draw the firearm, do you have it in you to take another person's life, are you sure about that. Remember that you are going to have to live with yourself and that fact for the rest of your life. I've grown up with firearms, and have been trained in the combat use of them, basically a firearm was part of my arm, an extension of me. Then one day I was faced with that situation, and the choice was there. I hadn't prepared myself for the fact that I would now possibly be taking a person's life, and I couldn't do it. Luckily I was able to remove myself from the situation with no damage to myself, or loss. BUT what if I couldn't, and I was shot and my firearm was taken from me. That means another firearm in the hands if the criminals, and another crime statistic/fatality. SO BE BLOODY SURE THAT YOU ARE GOING TO BE ABLE TO USE THAT FIREARM THAT YOU ARE SO WINDGAT ABOUT. (Naturally, I'm not talking to the people like Roneblack, for whom I have the utmost respect IF you have been in that situation, and come out the other side) This is the first time I've spoken about that, and the last time, and I'm not going to be drawn into any discussions. BTW, I still have all my firearms, and use them often, and am def not in the disarm all citizenry camp!
  21. SRAM and Shimano FD's are compatible. I prefer the Shimano FD, they seem to be more robust. Buy SLX.
  22. Time to get onto the IDT, the winds howling out there, lots of reading to be done.
  23. You too??? I burnt mine, after I passed, I had no intent of ever looking at them again, but got some new ones, I'll try. That'll do me, sounds good, and the recipe is low carb for sure. The only way to improve is to get a backyard chicken, a scratcher, which would be much healthier due to not been fed maize, and would probably be much tastier too. edit: meant to say, the toughness of the scatcher is what puts me off and that recipe tenderizes that, a Guinea Fowl would be better
  24. On Schaapenberg where you cross to go back to the bottom, I enjoy that ride, bliksems Look at his eyes, tik koppe
  25. What happened? A buddy of mine was killed 2 yrs ago while fighting fires in a little Bell. We don't know what happened, but surmise that the bucket hooked on rocks, and he overcompensated, and the rotors hit the chopper.
