  1. Been at it for about 2 months, so I'm pushing the bodies ability a bit.
  2. My bike took me around my farm, through the forest and through two lalies. I was too shattered to take any pics, but some of the residents of the second lalie had a good laugh at me lying on the side of the road recovering. Should have taken a pic of them
  3. Went for a SS ride today, and not a long one. Without eating breakfast, just 2 espresso. Man did I bonk hard. The trail through my farm has become so overgrown that it sent my hr sky high, I tried to manage my hr after that, but there are just too many steep long hills. The carbs that I ate, I ate too late to recover. The last long hill, about 5km and steep was just the straw that broke the donkeys back, and I had to phone the wife to fetch me. All part of the learning process.
  4. Fugly, and it's not a bicycle, it's an electric motorbike.
  5. I read somewhere that you must concentrate on twisting your knees in towards the apex of the turn, this automatically moves your hips to the right position. I find this helps me.
  6. I love this time of the year, I'm constantly looking for mushrooms as I drive around the farm, for iKowas, and Boletus spp, found this Boletus edulus yesterday, and had it fried in cream for breakfast
  7. I've got the same problem with an X0(MRP) chain guide, I cannot get the chain tensioned enough. I've decided to use a 1/2 link chain, which has been ordered. Should be here soon. In the meantime I've got a tensioner in there, but it just looks too busy. The chain-guide is there because the bike gets used as 1x10 at times.
  8. Careful with those things bru. They most definitely are very dangerous. Don't take chances with them. They may be used to humans, but that just makes them more unpredictable.
  9. Dreadful weather on our hills. My bike left me alone today, thank goodness.
  10. I run between 1.4 and 1.8 bar depending on conditions, and have for many years, and don't notice any adverse affects on my tyres. The limits are there to protect the tyre co's from litigation happy mericans. It's far more comfortable, and traction is better at lower pressures.
  11. I've been using the book Low-Carb Living for Families, by Monique le Roux Forstlund, great recipes, better than Noakes' book, IMO. Bought it off Amazon for my Kindle. Had pancakes today for lunch. edit, THIS RECIPE IS FOR ONE SERVING Also found this interesting article on the Starvation Response, in a magazine on Issuu.com, called Best of Fitnorama http://issuu.com/ami...bestoffitnorama ISSUU - Bestoffitnorama Starvation Response s.pdf
  12. Pearl Jam Spin The Black Circle http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O8v09-wlFiM&feature=kp edit: so if you see some old ballie beating his head repeatedly against his handlebars pedaling up the hill, that'll be me
  13. It's counter-intuative, but I read some research done a while back, that lower pressures result in lower rolling resistance on dirt, but not on tar, up to a point.
  14. Oh so is that it, looks great
  15. I love border collies, but the crosses that I've come into contact with have been the most awesome dogs. Characters. Buddy had a collie cross Jack Russel, now that dog was great.
  16. Noakes' diet is Low Carb, high fat, not high protein. Recommends that you have a lower protein intake because the body can produce glycogen from protein, which would defeat the objectives of a low carb diet.
  17. Pantani's gold JPS Special bike, don't know why I remember that.
  18. My first bike, Diamondback Topanga was a heavy lump of iron. My second bike, a Trek 5000, brilliant bike, I've recently redone tge bike for my daughter with XT parts. They last forever. My present bikes, were bought as frames, and I've built them up with SLX and X7/X9 parts, they are bulletproof. I expect them to last, so build them with the most durable bits.
  19. Very nice Hairy, I looked at the Moto for a long time. So my bikes are always black, I like them. A mate says that it's so the wife doesn't notice when I get a new bike, but that's not true. We discuss my acquisitions. My bikes haning out after an infrequent wash, a Yeti 575, and a Ragley Bigwig.
  20. Mind you I think he was the original serial double poster
  21. wasn't jo lo Groot Henderick in troll mode.
  22. No matter what the guys in the minivan did, there is no excuse for violence. Disgusting lack of control, they are behaving like spoilt brats throwing a tantrum, because they didn't get their way. Hope they get charged for assault.
  23. A few years ago I did the Wild ride, and Jon Ivins placed a few go pros along the route, I presume he grabbed stills off the cameras. He's another excellent photog. I've got 2 of his book of Sani and Wild Ride pics.
  24. That young quickie, Ralala?, big talent. Hope his mentors mentor him properly.
