  1. Shot Tubed, will be following this thread keenly. Good luck to all riding, and to you MadMarnitz. Will be following your sleeping? exploits.
  2. Stupid dog jumped into the bath to get one of my daughters toys to play with, and got her jersey wet. O and Fudge enjoying the fire
  3. I think that Malcolm did the right thing. Some people on the forum get all big about packing a fire-arm, BUT what would you do if you got attacked and had the opportunity to draw the firearm, do you have it in you to take another person's life, are you sure about that. Remember that you are going to have to live with yourself and that fact for the rest of your life. I've grown up with firearms, and have been trained in the combat use of them, basically a firearm was part of my arm, an extension of me. Then one day I was faced with that situation, and the choice was there. I hadn't prepared myself for the fact that I would now possibly be taking a person's life, and I couldn't do it. Luckily I was able to remove myself from the situation with no damage to myself, or loss. BUT what if I couldn't, and I was shot and my firearm was taken from me. That means another firearm in the hands if the criminals, and another crime statistic/fatality. SO BE BLOODY SURE THAT YOU ARE GOING TO BE ABLE TO USE THAT FIREARM THAT YOU ARE SO WINDGAT ABOUT. (Naturally, I'm not talking to the people like Roneblack, for whom I have the utmost respect IF you have been in that situation, and come out the other side) This is the first time I've spoken about that, and the last time, and I'm not going to be drawn into any discussions. BTW, I still have all my firearms, and use them often, and am def not in the disarm all citizenry camp!
  4. SRAM and Shimano FD's are compatible. I prefer the Shimano FD, they seem to be more robust. Buy SLX.
  5. Time to get onto the IDT, the winds howling out there, lots of reading to be done.
  6. You too??? I burnt mine, after I passed, I had no intent of ever looking at them again, but got some new ones, I'll try. That'll do me, sounds good, and the recipe is low carb for sure. The only way to improve is to get a backyard chicken, a scratcher, which would be much healthier due to not been fed maize, and would probably be much tastier too. edit: meant to say, the toughness of the scatcher is what puts me off and that recipe tenderizes that, a Guinea Fowl would be better
  7. On Schaapenberg where you cross to go back to the bottom, I enjoy that ride, bliksems Look at his eyes, tik koppe
  8. What happened? A buddy of mine was killed 2 yrs ago while fighting fires in a little Bell. We don't know what happened, but surmise that the bucket hooked on rocks, and he overcompensated, and the rotors hit the chopper.
  9. Hi I'm looking for a lift for a bike from PE to Henderson Valley Race this weekend, if anyone could help me I'd appreciate it, I'll even buy a beer after the race

  11. They're owned by the Working On Fire initiative, In the WC fire season they are based in the SWD somewhere, and they move up here at the beginning of our fire season. They are based at Rance Timbers in Stutt, and from here serve most of the Eastern Cape. Our Fire Protection Association is particuarily active and is big, so we are able to fund the choppers presence, they cost R9k a day, just to stand at the strip, and R20k per hour to operate. A pricy exercise, but because of the size of our FPA, WOF partially funds them. There's no better sound when you are battling to control a fire, except if you are the one paying for their presence
  12. I must try that. I like the taste of CO though. I make my coffee in the morning 30g butter, 30g CO, 40g cream and 60g milk and a shot of espresso B)
  13. Our local fire choppers, the second Huey has just arrived
  14. or wears a helmut..
  15. Amla is test captain, good http://www.iol.co.za/sport/cricket/proteas/amla-to-captain-proteas-test-team-1.1698018
  16. Captain is going to be announced later, think the Mighty# should get the job
  17. Flip you bunch, I'm not going to read the whole thread, but there's nothing wrong with dropping off a 6pack of beers at you lbs for the mechanic. Especially if they've gone out of their way to do a job for you. A little show of appreciation goes a long way.
  18. I've been listening to Stephen Malkmus lately, with Pavement and The Jicks, this song is from album Wig Out at Jagbags http://youtu.be/oPD0mD5pwMc
  19. Race Across South Africa=Freedom Challenge Inature you seem to have a particular axe to grind about this issue, this is the only thread that you have commented on. IMHO I think the the organisers of the Freedom Challenge have a valid point, and this is contrary to my usual stance on these matters.
  20. From EL side: In Cathcart: turn right at the Stop Street, turn Left at the next Stop street, just before the SaveMor, continue out of town on the gravel road for about 2.5km, turn Right on the first gravel road in the dip after the township, continue on the gravel for about 21km, and the turn to the campsite will be on your right. I tried to get google maps to give the directions, but it sends you through KatiKati, which is wrong
  21. If you go via Cathcart the gravel is good, it's just been rebuilt. It'll take about 20min longer
  22. Take any other sport, and their testing protocols are piss-poor compared to cycling, even athletics, which is starting to up it's game. Pisses me off when fat-arse golfers have a lot to say, doping is rife in golf!!! Steroids and beta-blockers.
  23. Sometimes I get tired and have to ride on the motorbike
  24. It won't be too cold, and the 40 is a lekker ride, flattish. I'm looking for a lift for a bike from PE to Henderson, if anyone can help please message me.
