  3. They're owned by the Working On Fire initiative, In the WC fire season they are based in the SWD somewhere, and they move up here at the beginning of our fire season. They are based at Rance Timbers in Stutt, and from here serve most of the Eastern Cape. Our Fire Protection Association is particuarily active and is big, so we are able to fund the choppers presence, they cost R9k a day, just to stand at the strip, and R20k per hour to operate. A pricy exercise, but because of the size of our FPA, WOF partially funds them. There's no better sound when you are battling to control a fire, except if you are the one paying for their presence
  4. I must try that. I like the taste of CO though. I make my coffee in the morning 30g butter, 30g CO, 40g cream and 60g milk and a shot of espresso B)
  5. Our local fire choppers, the second Huey has just arrived
  6. or wears a helmut..
  7. Amla is test captain, good http://www.iol.co.za/sport/cricket/proteas/amla-to-captain-proteas-test-team-1.1698018
  8. Captain is going to be announced later, think the Mighty# should get the job
  9. Flip you bunch, I'm not going to read the whole thread, but there's nothing wrong with dropping off a 6pack of beers at you lbs for the mechanic. Especially if they've gone out of their way to do a job for you. A little show of appreciation goes a long way.
  10. I've been listening to Stephen Malkmus lately, with Pavement and The Jicks, this song is from album Wig Out at Jagbags http://youtu.be/oPD0mD5pwMc
  11. Race Across South Africa=Freedom Challenge Inature you seem to have a particular axe to grind about this issue, this is the only thread that you have commented on. IMHO I think the the organisers of the Freedom Challenge have a valid point, and this is contrary to my usual stance on these matters.
  12. From EL side: In Cathcart: turn right at the Stop Street, turn Left at the next Stop street, just before the SaveMor, continue out of town on the gravel road for about 2.5km, turn Right on the first gravel road in the dip after the township, continue on the gravel for about 21km, and the turn to the campsite will be on your right. I tried to get google maps to give the directions, but it sends you through KatiKati, which is wrong
  13. If you go via Cathcart the gravel is good, it's just been rebuilt. It'll take about 20min longer
  14. Take any other sport, and their testing protocols are piss-poor compared to cycling, even athletics, which is starting to up it's game. Pisses me off when fat-arse golfers have a lot to say, doping is rife in golf!!! Steroids and beta-blockers.
  15. Sometimes I get tired and have to ride on the motorbike
  16. It won't be too cold, and the 40 is a lekker ride, flattish. I'm looking for a lift for a bike from PE to Henderson, if anyone can help please message me.
  17. That's all that matters
  18. Hope he's ok
  19. See you there, which one are you doing. The Bombazi hill is the hill above and to the right of the right gatepost
  20. Henderson Valley route check
  21. What I'm trying is to train on only water, and race with carbs, so far...
  22. What I meant to say is that it would be a good idea to read the thread from the start. You'll get soo much more info than what the guys will be able to give you here. Thats if you haven't. Took me about a month to read.
  23. Hepburn and Tuft both finished
