  7. Very good call by the PPA Cape braces for 1st winter storm 14/05/2009 14:34 - (SA) Verashni Pillay Cape Town - Surfers are getting excited and disaster management officials are on standby as the Cape Peninsula braces for its first major winter storm, which is expected to hit this weekend. Gale force winds and waves in excess of five to seven metres will keep most residents indoors. The SA Weather Service has issued an advisory, with forecaster Stella Nake telling News24 the south western peninsula and areas near Table Mountain would be particularly affected by heavy rainfall. "There is a possibility of gale-force north westerly winds of 70km per hour, including in the interior, and over the deep sea areas it might be more than 80km per hour," she said. The cold front is expected to move over the Western Cape towards Plettenberg Bay on Saturday night, Sunday and during the early half of next week.
  8. I just hope everyone take note that when ever you try to bring Andrew into a dis credited story, you will eventually ending up saying sorry. This guy is only doing good for cycling and I BELIEVE is clean in his cycling successes. If you dont have proofen facts about someone, shut up and keep it for yourself. Do you think Voetsek and Scooter post issues here that is not checked and confirmed as facts, and they are only reporters.... So, in afrikaans... moenie jou naam gat maak deur stront te pos om later net jammer to kom se. Ek hoop jy het jou les geleer
  9. Yes, the epic guys will remember that photo, you come down a nice downhill, hit a stream (still in big or middle blade.... and *bang"... you should be in granny gear to get up there,... next best option is..you walk.
  10. A big thank you to MiWay and the S/Sport coverage of the Sani 2 C. Those of you who watched it would've noticed it was 2 different shows. The one shoe was concentrating on the "Pro / Race" guys and than yesterday I saw a complete 1hour show about the normal guys, the me and you's of a race. Well done MiWay, well done Sani 2 C. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (Hope that Kevin Vermaak take a page out your book and give this type of Epic coverage in the years that com.)
  11. What about the 7H00 Andrag group? When do the Andrag group start now that its almost winter? Poisin Ivy and Orca? Whats going to happened tommorow?
  12. Guys, please remember that most Publishers ?Advertising revenue? is much more than what they make from the customer paying cover price Why do you think that publications print that many adds.
  13. So what?s close to us? Cycling clubs ? Why don?t they take on a monthly basis a CSA club from each province and do a proper article, telling the cycling community more about the different (please not another C L club article) Why don?t they get a article on club fees , club kit fees , club rides etc= to tell readers were is the best value for money per club When last did you see a proper insert from CSA updating cyclist on the latest and maybe way forward, what CSA are planning for the future etc. (I?m not talking about putting a article of the chair person in, but CSA Cycling matters) When last did you see something good about the PPA Funride League races ETC Why don?t you read anything interesting about the various PPA Orginizations, Not everyone got internet to go read website. 100?s of readers is from areas where they still use the ?slinger? telephone, the Internet is just something they read about in newspapers
  14. I was a subscriber with Bicycling as well and my subscription ended March, I think. They send me a letter informing if I want to renew, and they call me, I?m not going to renew. I got the latest as well, looked at the front page, saw the zipp of the girl pulled down? But she got nothing to look at. Sex sells ? But just make sure its worth looking at first. My biggest gripe with this is that a certain % off content is international news (70%), than you get some 20% ads, a couple off soapy stories to try and win a set of wheels and shimano shoes. When last did you read a tip that?s worth a pair of shoes ? Nothing, but nothing that really sits close to me and you, the normal cyclist looking for stories closer at home. Its like the Epic highlights, ?you only see the podium finishers and a couple of top dogs? They missed the heart and sole of the Epic, so does BICYCLING. And lastly, I?m still amazed that they published were you can buy these magazines and a hell of a lot (a) have moved with different tel. numbers (b) and others has closed down. For me, it?s a complete waste of money and I will rather buy it from the shelve when it looks interesting.
  15. My view on this. You know what you want to spend, Go out there and buy the bike YOU LIKE. You are not buying it only for the epic, you have train on it from July / aug as well as ride it for many years thereafter. No use in buying something (color, design etc) that you don?t like. Value for money ? a anthem with XT groupset. Or go to www.bicycling.co.za and check out the different bikes in certain price ranges
  16. Swiss, I got the same problem. I need a 3mm on my right leg. You cannot asdjust as the mtb pedals and cleats is not flat as on a road shoe.
  17. We will start at Andrag , doing that route anti-clockwise and end at mug and bean D?Ville( for coffee) and milo for Maruis and Lilo, next time we can do it clockwise, from that side end up at Andrag Its only 10min down the road to Andrag. If it?s a parking problem, park on the Hipermarket parking area, infront of the main entrance and cycle to Andrag (about 2km) and when we finish cycle back with me from mug and bean to brackenfell hipermarket
  18. Sunday : 22 March. I doing that back gravel road ride outside Durbanville area. Starting at Andrag at 6h45 Anyone interested? It?s a nice long training ride on a easy route. About 60% (of the 80km) on gravel. It?s very pleasant and quiet farm roads and you can be sure, you will ride it at least once a weekend. Get together at Andrag at 6h30 on your mtb?s.
  19. www.comobike.com. I get my stuff from them. And its trouble free, easy and you will get your stuff within 5 working days
  20. about fricken time. Hoop al die geraamtes kom niou uit wat so onder die carpet gevee was. As ek maar net kon praat, maar gelukkig weet ek niks :-)
  21. Solly, go read this. I'm ordering from overseas and all the numbers was posted here. https://www.bikehub.co.za/forum_posts.asp?TID=21200&KW=Groupset&PN=1
  22. Last week I post here that there is a lot of cyclist training on those Welgemoed Golfbaan hills without front or back lights. This morning, while training, I saw a handfull, without any lights (that was 5H00). As we went uphill, the one guy without lights was alongside and I asked him to put lights on, it will make him more visible, and his answer "I dont need lights, I train were there is street lights" I just shook my head and let him go. This was not 'n youngster, this guy is close to 40, this means he most probably got a family at home, kids still in bed, and he is playing with death.popeye2009-02-18 01:07:45
  23. Wie van die Hubbers oefen tussen 5h00 en 6h00 in die oggende, ry op Bottlary of Oor by die Welgemoed Golfbaan bulte? My Vraag: Het julle nie R60 om 'n liggie te koop en op te sit? Hoekom ry julle sonder ligte?
  24. On Sunday I was training on that road than goes infront of the Landbou School when two guys try to stop me, I heard the one said , "Give me your bicycle" but they misjudge the speed I came and I passed them, but as I went pass, I heard them shout "Next time we will just take it" I was lucky,I guess, but those two was just to farm guys, So the question is - How do they know about taking bicycles from people, they are not going to pitch for a race in a month or two, or is it only a way of transport? I can bet you, keep a eye on gumtree and one of these days you will see those 808's posted. Bring me back to another issue: As I turn right on at Klapmuts hoing towards the R304, (at about 11h30 - even the maroon sweeping vehicle wants to sweep me :-), I notice the empty Voom'as, Gu's, and wasps sachets. Guys I'm not lying, I count 53 empty sachets starting from that 4 way stap at Klapmuts till you get to the R304 junction. Most of it was just aff the tar , but a lot still in the road. It is shocking to think that us, can do this and than moan and groan if the authorities is getting hard ass towards cyclist and the sportpopeye2009-02-10 01:08:51
  25. Hi Guys Greyowl and me resolved this on Friday. We spoke about the appology, and I asked him to not make a big deal with it. He opologize to me in person on the phone, .. and that was good enough. So, his apology here is also good enough for me. I want you guys to get something else to discuss, We are not winning anything by continue'ing bashing one another regarding this issue. Its done, its closed.
