  1. Here's what I've got so far. Sorry for the bad picture quality... I still need a couple of stuff. Crank, chain, wheels and tires, longer brake cable for the rear, chain tensioner etc. I have some wheels lined up already though, just waiting to get some spare cash. Track wheels with flip-flop hub and 18 tooth bmx cog. I've built it around a Raleigh RC6000 frame and fork. 2005 model. Ritchey seat post came with the frame. San Marco Concore saddle, Campy Chorus brakes, Profile Design levers and an aluminium TT bar (not sure of the make). FSA stem came off my MTB. Might replace that with something sleeker (if budget permits). Also thinking about poudering it black. http://img855.imageshack.us/img855/9861/cuet.jpg
  2. Note to self: Bad idea looking at these pics whilst still wearing cycling shorts..
  3. I got mine yesterday. Thanks dad! I love this race. I have long since given up trying to improve my time. I just do it now because it's been a tradition since I was 11 years old and it's beautiful! Nothing like it. Atmosphere, sights and I think it test character
  4. Aw wow... Those Times are beautiful. Saw these on slowtwitch. I lurv the Cervelo. I know it's not the top of the range, but there's just something about it. http://img836.imageshack.us/img836/558/syoh.jpg http://img841.imageshack.us/img841/3008/qq8r.jpg
  5. I know.. I just wish it wasn't.. It looks horrible
  6. I'll probably get a lot of hate for this... But I really don't like discs on a roadbike
  7. No it wouldn't. I personally don't like the lefty. And to be completely honest, I don't particularly care who rides what. As long as I am still fortunate enough to ride what I want to, it's all good. Fair enough
  8. Did a Lefty get gold today? Silver is not first... Just sayin'... A regular fork beat it. And yes, chill out guyz. We don't all have to love the lefty.
  9. I think the reason (besides some people just being stupid) that things are quite expensive in the classifieds is because there are so many morons who make ridiculous offers on stuff. I once sold a Shimano RS30 wheelset. I initially put it up for R1800 as to be honest, I didn't really know what to ask for it. Needless to say, I had some interest, but no one bought it. Fair enough, it was a bit high. But I had MANY people offer me R900, R800 even as low as R600. Come on.. What do these people think? That we're just gonna say "Yeah you know, that was the first offer. I'll just sell it to you for nothing". It just annoys me so much. And it's usually the lurkers who have no profile picture and no info on their profiles. I mean we all know what fair prices are on cycling gear. We all should be able to negotiate properly.
  10. I agree with Ryanpmb. Your bike looks really nice dude Well done Anyway, so I have decided to also build a single speed. If all goes well, I'll be building it with a 2005 Raleigh RC6000 frame (the white aluminium one). I want to powder coat it black. Yes, I know you all probably think that's very boring, but too bad. I've done a very bad rendering of my idea in Illustrator. I know it looks horrible and has no cranks or brakes, but it's the thought that counts I've also made my first purchases towards the bike A white San Marco Concor saddle, white Ritchey bar tape, red adonized headset spacers and top cap. Will be getting a set of Campy Chorus calipers over the weekend. Now this is a very long term project. I'm just buying stuff when I get a good deal and have some spare cash, so it probably doesn't justify it's own thread just yet. http://www.enjoyindigochild.com/misc/ss_render.jpghttp://www.enjoyindigochild.com/misc/IMG_0539.jpg
  11. I've noticed there are PLENTY of wheel suckers on the Bottelary road. Two of us once passed a whole bunch of junior and super league riders at the beginning of the Bottelary road and not one of them ever came to the front until the end of the Bottelary road to "sprint" to some sort of "victory" showing us he actually has the biggest balls. I actually don't mind wheel suckers though. Kinda makes me feel good that someone thinks I am strong enough to pull them through the wind But at least say hello or something. You know, let us know you're there. It pisses me off when I am riding my ass off trying to improve my riding in the wind or something and as I sit up to take a breather, hear some ******** shout at me from behind because he almost road into my back wheel. How am I supposed to now you're there? Maybe these people keep their mouths shut because they know they are being morons. EDIT: Having said that though, Earlier this year when I started getting back into cycling, I did plenty of wheel sucking, but I made sure it was ok with everyone in the bunch and I am very grateful for all their help.
  12. I do agree with you to a certain extent. I think if you sold a guy a bike and it cracked, good customer service will to fix the problem for him. IE stripping and rebuilding and making sure he's riding again ASAP with as little hassle as possible. I guess it depends on the agent you're using. When my frame cracked, I was lucky enough to get a brand new frame, no questions asked and a free rebuild. They took a while with the build though. I probably would have been ready to ride if I had just taken the frame and built it myself. But it was free I guess
  13. Coz they want you to buy a new 27.5
  14. Evobikes has them for R195
  15. Very sexy Here's another angel http://img51.imageshack.us/img51/7092/4myi.jpg
  16. As mentioned above, about as many as your steering tube is long. If it is 100mm long, your stem and headset are 80mm you can fit 4 5mm spacers. But try not to go to high with spacers, as it could cause some handling issues. In my opinion, have about 30mm of spacers under the stem. If that's still not high enough, flip the stem over. If it's still not high enough, look for a stem with a steeper angle.
  17. No problem Always willing to help out
  18. Ja, maar om by die ou toppie te bly moet ek beter raak!
  19. Thanks that helped a lot too I will definitely give the link a couple of reads.
  20. Thanks man That helps a lot! Just from my base training (it started out difficult with a partner MUCH fitter than me) I already know that's about 185 bpm. I am starting to catch up to him now. Don't really reach that HR all that much anymore on what he calls base rides
  21. Wow... Oneday when I'm big
  22. I still ride a 26er as well. I have a lot of fun with it
  23. I really find all of this information super helpful and I have been reading about intervals and wanting to start trying them for a while now, but I'm not really sure how to monitor my effort. I have a heart rate monitor, and I know how to work it and what not. What is Lactic Threshold, and how do I calculate it? Or is there some other way to monitor my effort? If it helps at all, I am 21 years old, I weigh72 - 74kgs.
  24. I LOVE the TCR. Never ridden one though actually. It's just a dream bike I guess. That one in the link in your post looks damn sweet for R2ok
