  1. and a little bit more info. If you think Disco is getting lots of data, you should see what Apple / Google / Microsoft / FB is getting.
  2. simple terms. Apple watch & garmin watch etc collect user & exercise data. Apple & garmin etc use user movement and purchase (through itunes / apple store etc) to determine consumer behaviour characteristics. They use that to market and develop products for their target market. Discovery use that data to determine the extent of correlation between exercise data, consumer behaviour & overall "wellness", mortality, health claims. This saves them cash, as they can better tailor their products to suit the ones they insure, and provide incentives to exercise / behave a certain way in order to further reduce their claims. Which drives the cost of healthcare down, which saves them cash, which saves YOU cash, as they don't have to pay 2x anymore. It's easier to access a SINGLE source of information (Apple) than it is to access multiple sources of information (Samsung / HTC / LG / Motorola etc) Hence - partnership with Apple.
  3. Aaaaah... You were querying the addition of a soft. I read it as that there was already a soft and you were wondering if there was a hard joining it. Damn, reads like a low budget porno
  4. Nothing on Pinkbike yet. And those forums generally have guys who trawl the web for any updates and leaks.
  5. See my excerpt above... Dullard. The company’s development of the MICHELIN Power Rain tyres – which has seen the harder compound show good durability in drying conditions – has led to the decision to remove the intermediates from this year’s allocation.
  6. Eddie Adams. Retired gent out of Retreat area. Charges R 100 callout fee. Will PM you his contact details.
  7. But then on MotoMatters * Front slick tyre allocation: 10 in total, comprised of up to 5 of specification A, up to 5 of specification B and up to 5 of specification C. * Rear tyre allocation: 12 in total, comprised of up to 6 of specification A, up 5 of specification B, up to 4 of specification C. Riders who participate in both Q1 and Q2 will be allocated one extra rear slick of specification A (highest grip level) after Q2. The total rear slick allocation for these riders remains at 12, so any extra tyre taken will replace an unused rear slick from the original allocation. So yeah, it looks like all compounds are available to all riders.
  8. Doesn't say anything about all compounds to all riders...
  9. http://www.motogp.com/en/news/2017/03/15/michelin-ready-for-2017/221048 These latest tyres will not be the only modifications at the first round, as a rule change will see Michelin supplying three slick tyre specifications for both the front and rear wheels – two was the minimum requirement in 2016. This will give the riders a greater scope of tyre selections and will again hopefully lead to more choices and continue with different riders using different tyres and creating a competition effect within the single tyre rule. Another change will see the intermediate tyres no longer being used. The company’s development of the MICHELIN Power Rain tyres – which has seen the harder compound show good durability in drying conditions – has led to the decision to remove the intermediates from this year’s allocation. A further amendment to the rules will also see the two riders that qualify for QP2, after going through QP1, being given an extra rear soft slick tyre to enable them to use the softest compound in the second qualifying session if they chose to.
  10. I need to watch this. Watched the first 2 episodes and jjust lost track of it, somehow...
  11. Personally, I reckon Rossi "switches on" for the racing. Sorta like he's not running @ 100% in the testing or sims, or he's able to assess stuff at a slightly lower pace than the others due to his experience. Marquez - agreed he has the aggressive side of the race craft sorted, but in order to be fully rounded he also needs to know how to hang back and attack when the time is right. That's what I mean by maturing - knowing when to do what instead of balls to the wall all the time. He's learning that side of htings, now...
  12. Very good recommendations, here - can always spot an experienced, logical traveler by the way they pack!
  13. agreed on Marquez maturing. Started to see signs of it last year... If he can get his race-craft right, he'll be unstoppable IMO. But - as ever - Rossi is the ultimate craftsman. Letting other people go, racing when he needs to and waiting for them to stuff up, which they invariably do. He's also still got very good race pace. Seems his mind is still very well attuned to racing vs practicing and qualifying. Vinales - I reckon he'll give Rossi a good run this year, which could actually result in Rossi getting yet faster. But I don't think it'll result in the same sort of frostiness that Lorenzo brought in. Jorge still, to me, seems a bit of a petulant child. I'm of the opinion that their personalities are utterly incompatible...
  14. trails open at 7, so any earlier would be useless... If I had my way I'd be up there at 5, to catch the sunrise as I reach the top... Alas.
  15. Yep. You could see the ships on the film studios and outdoor filming place next tot he N2 just outside Somerset.
  16. If it were Pinkbike that had judged it, then it would have been a bit suspect. But Mike is a solid reviewer, and I trust his verdict far more than the trollists on PB...
  17. Manufactured outrage, IMO. But yes, agreed on Finn. 15 years' training does not provide a body in that sorta shape. Unless he packed a few pies every night.
  18. Har har har... Yeah, that's about as Enduro as a 50cc engine.
