  1. For exactly the same reasons as stated previously. Not reading to understand what has been posted, but reading to find argument, without actually understanding the background or the body of the post. You have, but they've almost all been finished off with a snap, jibe or something similar. Your post re the survey construction was great, but you had to ruin it all in the last sentence by throwing yet more fuel on the fire. Can we all just drop it, now?
  2. The irony in this is that you shot first. Edit: But. That is done, now. Please let's try to keep it civil. Understand that there has been a helluva lot of engagement behind the scenes with various people at the "big table" across several years, so the frustration is real.
  3. @mamil. This was the 3rd post of yours in this thread, and immediately you're taking pot shots at thermophage, insinuating that he's a whingy attention seeking whatsit who is throwing his toys out the cot. Stop. Take a breath, read and u deratand what we're posting, and stop escalating the situation. You've been caustic and condescending since this post, on a matter that YOU ADMIT you've not got the back story on. It's not ayoba. The reason Thermo called you "butthurt" is because you came out with the condescension and insults before even understanding the situation, and you've previously done exactly the same on other Tygerberg threads. Just because we're criticising certain aspects of the club, it doesn't mean we're criticising the whole entity. As an aside, Thermo's job IS stats. I'd advise holding up on the lecturing a bit, too. Yes, this post may appear condescending, and I apologise if it comes across like that. I just see an escalating situation where you're constantly throwing fuel on the fire.
  4. One of those errant yes answers to q3 was me. I can't undo that, unfortunately And yeah, that is a bit of an issue.
  5. Welvergenoegd and faircape are there, you're right. On the legend, tree charge and a few others aren't, though.
  6. yeah, it's also out of date. Black Rhino, Tree Charge
  7. Fair enough. I can't count myself as a true supporter as I'm not a paying member, but I do pay to ride there. And I support their efforts in many of their plans and projects. Plus, I didn't feel like using hte word "zealot" or "blinkered" as that would have even more negative connotations. BTW - the cryptic lawyers letters.... yeah the less said about that, the better. It's a really childish way to "settle" differences.
  8. That's easy, It goes into the same place socks go when being washed.
  9. How does the wish for better communication skills, more trail variety and better trail grading equate to dissing the club as a whole or saying they don't do things to help their members? Just how? They simply don't. Drawing that parallel is idiotic, frankly. A request for slightly more trail variety doens't mean they don't do other things very well. It's this binary attitude which I find increasingly popular with "supporters" when these questions / concerns are raised, and it's confounding!
  10. Complaining non-stop? Is that how you see it? There's 3 aspects that most people here (and in the past) have requested improvement on. Trail variety. Communication (actions on their FB page were really all you needed to look at, there). Grading. I suppose that it would sound like non-stop complaining, seeing as people pick up on the negative vibes far more easily than the positive ones, which in TBMTBC's case, are many. Rider development & sponsorship Land access Trail Building (just not enough variety, IMO) Race sponsorship Hosting Community development Etc etc etc.
  11. Fixed. Yours was a little too self-defeating in its construction...
  12. MAMIL, by your own admission, you don't know much about the history behind asking for more technical trails, and the literal wall that is the response to any and all suggestions like it. NOBODY has complained about the trails there. They're all lekker. We all enjoy them. BUT. We'd appreciate the inclusion of a few more technical trails so that we, and others like us, as well as those groms who are coming up through the ranks in SA's XCO / Enduro / whatever disciplines can train on the TBMTBC trails instead of going outside them in order to get proper technical skills training in. Unfortunately, for some ardent supporters of the club, they instantly see people questioning things and go into all out attack mode (like you've done here, in pages past, and in threads past) without actually understanding what it is that those people are asking / questioning. The suggestion of a poll is good, and it's been done in the past if I remember correctly, but I don't ever remember seeing the results of that poll. Whether somethign comes of it is the true test, but I don't hold much hope, based on previous experience. As for your analogies: Flawed, but only because we're not talking about tennis vs squash. We're talking about having 3 Castle Lite & 1 Windhoek draught point in the pub instead of just 4 Castle Lites. You know, 'cos variety.
  13. that was NOT a snap. Dog was surprised awake by something falling on its pillow, and reacted by growling, though quickly stopped when it saw what was up.
  14. take it in to get serviced and inspected. May have a 140mm air spring in it, even!
  15. It happens all the time, Skubarra. And no, rating things properly is always preferential to rating them improperly, as that creates false confidence in new trails of the same "grading". Going to a new place, using tygerberg's ratings as a yardstick will ALWAYS end badly. The only solution to this is to re-rate the trails on TBMTBC's land, and show the masses what they're actually riding. Just because you scope before you ride, doesn't mean everyone does.
  16. Right of way is applied on a general basis, unless otherwise indicated. In some places, it's otherwise indicated. Like Tokai has a rule of Descenders having ROW, as it's far easier to hear a descender coming towards you than to hear a climber coming up the trail, among other reasons. IMBA are also a set of guidelines. The trail rating system is the most widely used, and some centres who abide by IMBA guidelines also have descenders with the ROW. Also - this is why most trails are now being built as mono-directional. To avoid these ROW issues.
  17. Also adjusts the toe of the front wheels to aid in heat generation / moderation of the front tyres. That's teh primary function of the push / pull feature, from what I've seen.
  18. https://youtu.be/U_uKHNJLSQs These explain it quite nicely.
  19. Point is, Cobra and NES are both Blue trails. Mild blue, if that. Cobra has the higher max gradient, but that's pretty much it. Cobra is smoother, as NES has a deposit of small stones over the surface. Both have "difficult" sections but neither have large unavoidable obstacles (unless you count that rock roll in the middl eof Cobra, which is unaoidable yet not difficult and not big enough to warrant anything over a mild blue rating.
  20. "Not sure if everyone is on the same page" My post was a direct response to that.
  21. Enduro is literally just trail riding with the descents timed. It's not a type of riding. If anything, we're trail riders that want more variety on the largest network in the Cape.
  22. Yep. Theo Erlangsen. Ike Klaasens isn't far behind either, the little tyke.
