  1. AFAIK shimano hubs aren't convertable. I may be wrong, but I don't think you'll be able to adapt them down. If it's TA at the back then you'll also be looking at 142mm wide axle vs the 135mm on the QR side, so there's gonna be some squashing somewhere. I wouldn't do it.
  2. Your biggest limitation there will be budget. Hardly anything good in those ranges, unfortunately. Personally, Eliminator Grid for the front, all day long. It's grippy, reasonably fast-rolling and long lasting. BUT it'll be around R 800 or so, which is outside your budget. Won't be at all "too miuch tyre" for a 60k ride.
  3. no, back protection is not compulsory. Only compulsory item is a helmet, and that's a half-shell. The rest is "recommended"
  4. They are, generally.... LOL. Only diff between enduro and xco is that the xco guys do laps, and get timed on the ups, too...
  5. No, it's not. Those figures are a little bit inflated...
  6. And days after the best looking and lightest e-bike launch, they're not really looking that svelte
  7. No thanks. Despite my failures, I still want to get there and prove it to myself and others that I can do it.
  8. HAHAHAHAHA @velouria this is SO true! If you've never experienced a Meurant Botha race briefing, you are missing out. It's worth entering a Dirtopia event just for the race briefing.
  9. Can’t. Only the highlights packages on youtjoop or pink bike. The format doesn’t really lend itself to live broadcasting
  10. I have the suspension linkage from the States. All nice and shiny. But no, unfortunately. Time, and the fact that it's being stored at a mate's place. And disposable cash to make it happen... First step is the powdercoat, once that's done it should be plain sailing.
  11. absolutely fine. Needs a carb, but otherwise it's just been rebuilt. New rods, crank, piston, rings etc etc. Essentially a brand new reconned engine. On the list of things I need to get are: 1 - carb & air box & filter 2 - lighting (LED based lighting running off a large LiPo battery) 3 - new throttle assembly (has a push/pull throttle as standard, want a single action) Then it's just a case of putting her together.
  12. I have one. Need to get going on it, though!! First step, powdercoating the frame.
  13. It was! Watched it all last night. Shame, the big guy reallllly suffers.
  14. Still there... https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1P4vdmaJvzXjp1QrxvZWvUJ6xtIoLISH-oMZRL-OOU1s/edit#gid=0
  15. I have 2 bikes. My roadie is an old Alpina, and my mtb is a 2015 giant reign. Neither are going to be replaced anytime soon.
  16. I don't think it'd be the medications side effects you need to look out for, more the repercussions of prescribing it...
  17. *Lightest. He prioritises weight reduction and rolling resistance over grip, and has the skills to be able to make up for that lack of grip. If I ride aspens front and back I'd probably be like a pig on an ice rink. What DiD says about the hardback is also true. Can get away with less grip when it's super hard packed without a sandy / gravelly / muddy covering.
  18. Lol. One thing that Nino has that none of us even come close to, is skill. And that really helps when grip is low.
  19. yeah, pretty much. The spotlight is here, ain't it. All good though. Only way it'll go away is by me actually fkn doing this.
