  1. Thing is, I've been listening to that voice a bit too often lately! And yes, it is so much easier to ask forgiveness. I know from experience - the bike was in my boot for 2 weeks before I broke the news to her...
  2. +2,000. Dude - he was seriously lucky to come off with nought but a concussion.
  3. "decided that a better model Scott, a Spark 29 Pro, will help him ride faster and avoid being hit by wild animals in future,” BrahahahahahahahahA!!!!
  4. lol... But Andre, this is just stupidity, whereas the buck was pure hilarity, and a properly random incedent. I could do the same as this girl this morning if I wanted to...
  5. Shot guy. She rides perfectly. Not too bouncy, but super plush and she just soaks up the bumps. Really is too good for my skillset at the moment, and has saved me a fair few times. She needs to be ridden this weekend though - I've had a bit of "off time" thanks to flu & concussion, and am back on it now. Just got myself a new lid as well, so the fun can begin! Work has also been hectic, so not much time for play recently. Saying that, I have a little voice in my ear telling me to buy a FOX DHX 5 for the rear... Have to give him a klap every now & then. Spending on the bike has been curtailed, seeing as she is already far too good for me. Frame is alu, 6000 series. It's actually quite light for a DH frame (approx 3 kg or so) but the rest of the components (especially the 2002 boxxer) weigh her down a bit. I told a roadie mate of mine (who rides a fully loaded carbon FOCUS rig) to pick her up, and he almost bust a gut.
  6. Put an apostrophe & and S in there and you've opened up a WHOOOOOOOLE new can of worms. a la....
  7. Yep, I'd go for that. It's just like the Macicshine / Majiclight etc. I think it's the MJ808E, with a Cree XRE LED. Very bright, high efficiency LED and a good run-time. And knowing CWC, they'll just swop it out for you no questions asked if something goes wrong. I've ordered a pair of Ultrafire LED torches, bar mounts & hemlet mounts as well as batteries and chargers for myself from Dealextreme. They're taking an age to get here, but I paid R 800 all in for a set of lights that should be roughly 1 1/2 to 2 times as bright as these. For real quality - go for Exxposure or Brighter Lights. www.brighterlights.co.za
  8. I got some of those still! The guys I took the printing to could only print on 1.5m sections of clear vinyl. So I have LOADS of stickas!
  9. The options they presented were perfectly acceptable. He could either have his card re-credited, or exercise the option of having a voucher, which could be used up until the end of November. It is also the client's responsibility to ensure that they are paying what they should be. Do you check a restaurant bill? Do you check the price you're paying for a new car? Do you check the price you pay for an airline ticket? Why not check the price you pay for a bit of cycling kit, ESPECIALLY when the invoicing system is done manually?
  10. Haha! No, Ecc1, you know I'm in none of those categories. I think that's the 2nd time you've tried to finger me as Chris Jnr's doppelganger though.
  11. So speak to the guys! Give them your credit card details! Do whatever, just do it civilly! And it has everything to do with civility. If he had been civil from the start, would he have been messed around so much? Probably not. If I have a choice of speaking to / dealing with a civil client, or one that tweets incessantly about a problem that he could sort out very easily with one phonecall, and that was *partly* his fault anyway, I know exactly which one I'd deal with first.
  12. Can you not dial him again then? Yes - you have a right to be disgruntled. No - you don't have a right to act like a spoilt little child and mouth off like you did on Twitter. Handle it civilly, and I guarantee you that you'll get further and it'll be sorted out that much faster.
  13. In my opinion, you shouldn't have acted like a complete **** on Twitter. A friendly phone-call to them would have gone far better for you, and I reckon you would have had a far better experience so far. Yes, you tried to call them. No, you probably wouldn't have gone through to them as it was, no doubt, one of their busiest ever days and considering the stress they were under with having to manually enter everything, and look up their prices manually. Having said that, you could have called them on Monday, and still retained some element of self-respect. In addition, why didn't you check your receipt, or the amount that you were being charged, upon swiping your card? I know for a fact that all the transactions were recorded manually that day, as their IT system crashed the morning of the sale and they were waiting for their IT guys to sort it out. So yes, people make mistakes. They made a mistake on my invoice too, but I pointed out to the person at the till that the prices on the items hadn't included the discount, and all was hunky dory from there. She apologised, I said no worries - as long as I got the discount. If you had talked to them civilly, as opposed to first mouthing off on a public forum such as twitter, then I think you have a right to complain. Considering your plan of attack here, I have no sympathy for you. The customer is only right up to a point, after all... On another note - have you bothered to pick up the phone and CALL them yet? Or have you just left it to e-mail and hoped for the best?
  14. particularly pertinent, given late developments...
  15. too true. But heck, it's a good looking colour. And I don't mind wearing pink. Given the choice between pink & brown, in a sexual context, it's kinda less homo to go for the pink than the brown...
  16. Kinda the point, Banna... It was that or brown. Yegh. Plus, stick a couple of Monster, Rock Shox & other decals on it, and it'll rock even harder! But heck, at least I won't be indistinguishable from the local environment...
