  1. Going to the website of the "managers/trail-builders/owners/permit sales" is always the best link to info: Wellington trails are part of the Winelands trails: https://winelandstrails.com/#!/up Check the different areas incorporated in Winelands trails, or go directly to Wellington link (wildboar) https://erau64.wixsite.com/wildboartrails Fantastic trails !!

  5. Phew, glad he didn't say that other thing that needs lubrication....
  6. Looking for a scrap pedal from which I can extract the eggbeater cage. Hit a rock at high speed - Crank-Brothers Candy - pedals still working well, so don't want to dump if I can avoid that. I need a replacement cage - Hoping someone has an old scrap pedal that I can get the cage assembly from ?
  7. Agree 100 % If you have to climb over 'danger tape' across the road - you know you are wrong. I have cycled for many years and been part of groups going the wrong way road and mtb. When you realise you are off route or find tape blocking your route, you know to turn back. Even in major races and tours in Europe we have seen confusion and even Marshall miss direct riders. Yup it will pss you off, but you can't keep going a different route and expect to be rewarded.
  8. PM sent
  9. Yup, and you are going to need that GPS file because Signal Hill is where everyone gets lost. Gets complicated.
  10. A bit confused about whether the new 'starting flow' will be vc19 safer. This year, the Start times are given as the Transition release time. You need to start accumulating in your Transition area -Plan to arrive at your Transition Area no more than10 min before your transition release time, - and will then be released into a "rolling start". You will be released from your Transition area (within 10 min from arriving) So, no more 1 hour waiting in your cage. (and then just continue on a rolling start. i.e. no gun ? at start line, gun is effectively at the Transition release time, but timing only starts at crossing the mat.) Ok so far, the idea is to prevent gatherings (200-500 riders) for an hour in start cage. - But, to prevent being late at race starts, everyone tries to get to their start time 'a bit earlier' (and now only a small 10 minute window - not 1 hour +) and as we know from experience at races, most riders want to be early/front in their start groups. On top of that, the X, Y, Z etc. guys are always there early and right in everyone's way. So, will we have a 18,000 (?) rider/bicycle traffic jam near cage entry points ? Further, will this bicycle congestion on the approach roads, let 300 (18,000/61groups) (?) guys get to their cages on time, and can the flow be fast enough to let organisers at the gates check numbers etc of all 300 (?) riders in 10 minutes ? (1 every 2 seconds). Thinking about this makes one more anxious about being on time for your '10min window time' - so will we be there (in the jam) even earlier !
  11. Anyone have info re Substitutions for this Winelands race ?
  12. If still available, I could use the Cone spanners, and a Rear (if that is a rear) skewer
  13. In my experience, clean chain links getting stiff, has always been from changing gears (or chain drop) while under high tension/pressure. But I suspect running cross chain under pressure could also bend side plates.
  14. Man, it's so difficult to keep bugs out of your teeth - from the constant enormous wide smile - on the fantastic Yellow (Fish Eagle) and variety and fun on Blue route on the Bottelary trails at the moment ! Still can't understand why we don't have traffic jams on these trails - so few riders, and what a privilege to have these extensive trails and variety.
  15. Their previous event also for R550 - had only 41 entries (as far as I can see) And they don't think the high entry fee is the reason !?
  16. Greyt Escape 1 Day entry fee R 550 - WTF !
  17. Rooikat fence poles are in and the wire lying ready to be erected. Might have been possible to start it but I worried the end might be closed. So I would say its gone
