    Freedom Challenge

It's amazing how there is always something badass-er than what someone is doing. I would be the bliksem-in if i just finished FC and some dude said to me "Ja, but have you done 'Cairo to Cape'". Not aimed at you Manx18, but just a comment about people in general (myself included).
  2. I had to google that. Thanks Mr. Bornman for my word of the day. I'll try to slip it in somewhere to impress the hell out of everyone.
  3. Large SC Tallboy.
  4. In my experience, I would not suggest buying second hand hubs. The relatively small amount you could save would be very easily lost should you need to replace bearings or parts on the free hub. Worst case, you might have to replace the free hub body. IMO not worth the risk.
  5. Well, I guess he couldn't put 'Picking fights on open forums'.
  6. There can be no safeguard against dirty old caffeine fueled men trolling the Internet late at night. If there were, I'd be watching TV.
  7. Or how about a 'rate this post' box. So if you think a post is really awesome give it a 10, or if someone is being a douche bag give the post a 1. Then you can also have an average rating. For example, TheV, your post made me smile, but didn't make me shoot coffee out my nose, so I'll give it a 7.
  8. Ja, I've got one of those crappy carbon Tallboy's
  9. Day 2 is the real killer. 2700m in 85 km is a brute, anyway you look at it. Good luck to the pros racIng for a R100k on that! I'm just gonna be chuffed as f$&k to do that climb...
  10. Went from 26 to 29'er about 3 weeks. ago. Would have kept my 26'er if i could afford it, but couldn't manage. So far so good. Largely, I would say it is a better option for the marathon and ultra-marathon distance where things are not too technical. Anyone who says that 29'ers have made 26ers obsolete is a tool...
  11. That was my first impression when I got it, but I'm not too sure after riding it for 2 weeks... Loving the flat bar though - have ridden riser bars for 4 years prior to this. I find it corners better with the lower bar.
  12. Hey? Last year the marathon was very flat. What few climbs there were, were very take. Can't see it being any different this year.
  13. Yes, I have the same hubs. I've stripped it and will have the new bearings in tomorrow. If I still struggle I'll check out the bushing. Shot for that!
  14. May the farce be with you.
  15. I think it would be easier to find the answer to Life, the Universe and Everything than to compile such a list.
  16. Send photos when you do - she'll be a beaut... Clown wheels and all!
  17. You have thought that through quite well!
  18. In that case I would suggest: XTR crankset XTR shifters XT brakes XT derailleurs XT cassette and chain My 10 grand's worth :-)
  19. Bought my TB built up with XTR, fox and the ZTR Crests. The only small thing was that the original owner (I got it 2nd hand) swapped the XTR brake levers for XT as these have bite point adjustment. My comments: XTR is the shizzle. As mentioned this is personal preference tho. The RP23 shock is great. The propedal with threshold rides 95% as well as a Spez brain. Can't comment on the fork apart from it being quite plush. Time will tell... ZTR crests... Eish... I suspect the back wheel was badly built as I have already had it re-trued to try to get rid of play. I am busy replacing the bearing in the hub as the 2 smaller ones seemed a bit stuffed. Not a good start...
  20. The a$$ muscle. Seriously, just a jab in the butt cheek.
  21. I had chronic neck spasms and tried the chiro route. Went for about 8 sessions, and after each one the pain would subside, but return within a day or two. Eventually, out of desperation, I went to the emergeny unit at a hospital and got a cortesone injection. Problem solved within about 6 hours, and I've not had any problems since.

    Upgrading

Get more travel. For proper AM riding I would say that 120mm is a little light in the trousers. If you do decide to stay with the camber I would upgrade in this order: Wheels Fork Brakes Happy shopping!
  23. I did several stage races, including Epic on my 140mm Stumpy and it was always a pleasure to ride. It is not the fastest over longer distances, but it certainly is always a jol!
  24. There can never, ever, ever, ever be too much singletrack!!!
  25. Anyone know where to find results for this race?
