  1. Dash! Seems you have moved on from pics of plants and lions?! Sweet pics dude...I'm surprised nobody here on the Hub did the event...or did they?
  2. Your expecting a group of people (predominantly men) who wear tight lycra and shave themselves in the aid of going faster to know how to spell properly?! Thats a long shot! (or is it shoot?!)
  3. Dude be honest...are you trying to drop your H-levels? EPO usually lingers in the blood stream but losing a pint should bring you into safer levels. Just use a 500ml Coke bottle if your unsure of how much a pint is... I read this on another website!
  4. Cool..thanks Hubber dudes, all sorted!
  5. Thanks guys...
  6. Does anyone here on the Hub know who the South African agents are for Audiovox? Its a multimedia system...We are having no joy with our product and no local fitment guys are able to help either. So, went and tried the Google route, but it sends me in circles... Anyone know who the SA distributor is?
  7. That is super hot...SUPER HOT!!!
  8. I think both bikes are cool...but spending my own money, Specialized would be the choice.
  9. If your going on a "he said she said" basis, I would have to say that Cervelo come off second best yet again. Dunno how many people I have spoken to who have had problems with their frames...seen a couple here on the hub as well. Yes, they are cool, but not as reliable as the Spaz's. I think Cervelo push the envelope when it comes to their frames, and the problem is we are not exactly test subjects. We buy it hoping it will last and last. Its also unfair to associate their palmares with reliability. Both manufacturers have won Paris Roubaix, but I'm pretty sure the bikes were thrown away afterwards! We have to keep riding it...or use the warranty claim.
  10. Buy the Specialized...my 2c
  11. You must be a Euro Pro to ride white bar tape dude! I wish they still made the white glossy tape...showing my age now I guess?!
  12. I suppose we would all stop coz we are all aware of how it feels to bite the tar/dirt. I was hit by a taxi on Louis Botha years ago, and ironically it was another Taxi driver that stopped to help.
  13. Sorry...I've just been informed by my SO that I am living in the past and that real men dont ride bicycles...its a childs plaything. So, with that in mind, please ignore my rant should you have read it! GreyOwl2.02009-06-01 11:37:55
  14. Send a PM to Johan Bornman. He'll point you in the right direction...
  15. Thats actually a really good idea. Those Planet X bikes do look killer cool. I've seen Kiwi's before and its impressive...and he is a Hubber, so supporting him is also a big plus!
  16. Dude...you have just opened the biggest frame bashing thread! I know a lot of guys complain about the Italian bikes being made in China/Taiwan/Japan. But at the end of the day, if your happy riding the bike does it really matter where its made? I suppose the Scott frames are good? I have heard a few nightmare stories about one particular brand available locally. Trek are good...IMHO Merida? Seem nice and not too badly priced.
  17. Sorry lads, I'll give this one a skip. Not to upset our northern mates, but I just enjoy the southern roads a bit more. (Yes, I'm a snob)
  18. Klapperknop...You make a valid point about buying online. But, from my side I would say most of my purchases have been totally on impulse. I like walking around a shop, looking at all the goodies and fighting temptation to buy anything and everything that appeals to me. Having said that, the prices and professional service you get from somewhere like CWC or CRC are a big bonus. I have a "local bike shop" in Northcliff Cycles. Alex and his crew are fantastic, always able to help you out and always willing to go the extra mile for you. But, I do travel a helluva long way to get that service...but it is well worth it. I went into The CycleHub at Rietvlei for the very first time this weekend (which as the crow flies is less than 3km from me) and I was suitably impressed with the shop and some of the prices. The shop is a huge improvement from its old spot at Panorama...and in such a cool setting. I also believe that we are quick to complain about service...but rarely give praise when its due. I agree with Mampara, I also expect the best service no matter where I go...but when its "above and beyond" it also deserves a mention.
  19. Damn you...I clicked on here hoping to see Colnago's!
  20. Billy Idol...Rebel yell
  21. Thats freaking awesome. Saw a show on Discovery about asteroid impacts...went onto Google Earth to try find the one sight in Canada...its a perfect circle punched into the earth...although unrelated to this thread, those circular things in the ocean reminded me of it! Unreal!
  22. The funny thing is that years ago the fastest bike in the world was made in South Africa by Aerodyne! I'm sure there was a really funny thread going somewhere in the UK about how the Lotus frames were in fact still manufactured in the UK...and if there were no problems with the SA made carbon super bikes, then I really dont have a problem with a carbon bike that comes out of China!
  23. Me too! I agree...I think I would be concerned if my bike was made in Italy!!! I say make those little buggers mould as quickly as possible!
  24. Intern...Alfa's are cool! They are really pretty cars. As for the craftsmanship of Colnago...is China really a bad thing? I ride a Prince, and trust me there is no way on earth that bike is made in Italy. TORAYCA is the company that manufactures the carbon for Pinarello, and I really dont care where its made. Its still the hottest bike on the planet! (IMHO) Come to think of it, Audi manufacture my other "Italian" toy...and I'm thankfull for it! In fact I think all the bikes are made in Taiwan these days...with the exception of Bianchi.
