  1. Great looking bikes, like the Chris King headset too. I reckon those disc brakes must be practical otherwise I don't think they'd use them. No doubt they give you good stopping power when riding in traffic. http://blog.budnitzbicycles.com/
  2. As to what they will do when the roadworks move past Boyes I have no idea. Bottom of Boyes might become T1 so maybe start thinking about where to put your swimming cap and goggles and which stroke is most comfortable whilst dragging your bike.
  3. At least 1 and more likely 2 more years of Boyes so get used to it.
  4. Yep it's a multi-day hike with accommodation at SAN Parks camps and access to the Orangekloof permit-only trail up Table Mountain. I've done half of it - the full hike from the point only opened recently. Well worth it - just over 800 bucks for the full hike including accommodation and porterage. http://www.hoerikwaggotrail.org/hoerikwaggo-trail.html
  5. Imagine if there was a ridable route from the point to the cable station? Would that change things in terms of profitability and interest from the public? I'm walking it in October but I'd much rather ride it haha. As someone who grew up on the peninsula I really like the idea of being able to ride from the point to town off road.
  6. Sounds like Cyclelab's Baghdad branch is the one to shop at.
  7. Well done Maroesjka, coming back from a heavy crash 1 week before to win 6 golds.
  8. I agree - friends and family of Juan will inevitably read this thread - stupid remarks based on nothing but the impulse to make trite remarks are going to be remembered for a long time.
  9. Imagine beggars debating on their mobile devices via a forum whether they'd like nice paper pushing jobs or would prefer to stand in the rain and take abuse because it's easier and more profitable.
  10. Great idea, should make for very interesting viewing. The BBC is generally regarded as more 'fair and balanced' than most other news sources so they have a good chance to make an impact here.
  11. Would be nice to see Kreuziger and Geraint Tomas do well. I see Cav has been designated the Sky 'leader' - hope his team car is more reliable this year and he doesn't have to help push it up the hills
  12. 'Easiest to get going again' - too subjective and difficult to predict. The person with broken legs will find it hardest to get going again. But how can you predict this when travelling round a blind corner at 40km/h ? Sounds about right... This is SA after all. The biggest vehicle has right of way and this is often the rationale for buying it in the first place. The more useless you are at steering the thing the bigger your vehicle must be to ensure you completely flatten any other vehicles you happen to steer into and are unharmed in the process. I've lost count of the number of people who have merrily explained to me that this is why they have an otherwise pointlessly immense car.
  13. 5900m ascent over 218km on the penultimate stage with a good chance of snow - insane. I wonder what the vertical ascent record is for a grand tour stage? This must be close and comes at the very end of 3 weeks of racing.
  14. Damn, there I was thinking I had cleverly smuggled in my whinging under the guise of constructive suggestions
  15. The point seems to be not only to whinge, but to do so pointlessly - with no view to improving the situation - which would of course endanger future whinging opportunities. Same deal with the Jesus threads. God help us if there be any resolution lest we no longer be able to recycle the same argumentative blathering for perpetuity.
  16. Debate is great, and when it pays for itself it will be even greater. No more pointless whinging about expensive races for example.. whinging will, by design, solve it's own problem.
  17. PIng Admin : please can you start charging to start threads that a. involve whinging about how much stuff costs - races, components, anything at all really - there are plenty of them. b. attempt to initiate religious debates Say 20 bucks per thread? More than 10 pages and posters must pay R1 per post. Threads that start with good intent and are derailed in this direction also incur the per-post fee. How about you put the money in a pool, you take a cut - bandwidth and server storage ain't for free - and we use the balance to put on Hub cycling events. Paid for by the generous whingers and religiously inclined within the Hub community. I suspect you'd have a decent kitty in no time at all.
  18. ride faster and someone else will pay your entry. problem solved again.
  19. make your own race and post yourself a comp. problem solved.
  20. after reading the OP's post in the latest 'why don't they wave at me' thread, I must agree - see a psychologist, any one will do
  21. ja methinks you should go say hello to the good peeps at the funny farm. I only chase people who try to kill me with their cars. and they call me mad.
  22. To the OP: why does your website not detail specifically why your product is more suited to kids than the next brand? It's shocking to me that you don't feel it necessary to disclose this level of detail, and also that your customers are either ignorant or indifferent enough not to have demanded it from you. A friend who works in pediatric nutrition has looked at your site and cannot make any kind of judgement about what you are putting in your products : the quality of ingredients, source of the ingredients, whether it's safe for kids to use etc. As a starting point, what type of protein and sweeteners are you putting in your products? I'd definitely get this type of info up on the site asap.
  23. haha no please take mine, also sitting in the cupboard.
  24. My strong feeling is that stuff called massmax and tonemax has no place in a kids diet - both in terms of the body image it creates and the nutritional input. Young bodies are still developing according to a genetic blueprint that cannot be second guessed and should not be messed with. The only time a kid needs supplements is when they have a health issue and this type of supplement would be of little use in that scenario. Your best bet in that instance would be to consult a nutritionist specialising in children and to have the necessary tests done to determine a very specific course of supplementation. As far as kids abusing supplements and PED's goes, yes this is definitely a problem but I don't see how this addresses it. My wife got SSI and the WP B rugby coach to speak at her school on the subject which apparently had a good impact. No they didn't recommend supplementation and they did warn against the unregulated nature of the industry, amongst other potential health issues.
  25. keen to watch the giro this year, just got back from a trip to Rome, Campania and Sicily and you really have to see the roads and the surrounding landscape and architecture to understand what they have there.. mindblowing stuff
