  1. Yeah, I agree. I think that's what they think. It really annoys me, especially when its a dark car and it's like 10 minutes till absolute darkness, and the park lights are really small. Poor visibility on the roads is dangerous.
  2. Awesome work!
  3. Great words from Froome in the interview about the incredible work done by Porte. You couldn't ask for a better teammate.
  4. Really cool build. I've been thinking about the WTB rims for a while now. Can you post a few more pics of the whole wheels one the bike, and maybe an idea of what it cost in the end?
  5. Still looking for comments? I own one of these and would be happy to give an opinion, if you're still interested.
  6. What time does the DSTV coverage start? I'm in a place that I don't have access to the remote to check the info.
  7. Price estimations? XX is about R16k (not sure about that) while XX1 is about R11 500 right? So X01 at about R9500? EDIT: On second thoughts, with the exchange rate, XX1 is going to go for around R12.5k I think, with X01 going for around R11k, if the rumour of between $1000 and $1200 is correct.
  8. The way to do it, that I've seen used by other online retailers, is to load a correct number of items that they have in stock into the system when making the item available online. When, and only when, an item is payed for officially then that item's stock is removed from the website system. Putting it in the basket does nothing to what is reserved. But if you put it in your basket, but when you want to checkout and pay, a message tells you that you can't go through with the checkout as there is now no stock. That way, nobody will be able to pay for items that aren't in stock anymore. Being able to pay for items that were on special but sold out is unnacceptable to me.
  9. Muc-off wet lube, the little black and blue bottle. Does get dirty faster than wax, but it lasts for two to three short rides and generally doesn't leave a lot of residue on RD jockey wheels etc.
  10. Sounds great, I will sign up for the 50km.
  11. Which ZTR wheels are those? Can't read that writing
  12. Not sure how many batches. Was wondering that myself. Seeding index of 51. Seeded in D. You Smolster?
  13. Cool! a Scalpel with 3 wheels! I'd love to take a look
  14. RvjR for the win! Go Argos
  15. What's the price diff on the frames, just outta interest? I have the impressions that Anthem X advanced = R22 k, from the us website, and Santa = R26 - R30 k?
  16. Not related to CRC, but rather our beloved post office: Bought an item from the Hub, mailed (via normal parcel) from CPT on 4 October. Arrived at my post office in the North West on 10 November. It apparently took longer to cross the country than for a free delivery from the UK to arrive
  17. Drahthaar, I own a 2012 Vida 4, which is close to the new Vida 3 I think. Its a great bike, and I love riding it. The new Vida 4 looks awesome, and the specs are pretty good for the price. I must agree with some of the others here, and say that you could get a great value 2nd hand 26" on the hub here, but that depends on how hectic the riding you will be doing is. Chances are, as a beginner you'd appreciate the slightly easier rolling of the 29" for the type of riding you'll be doing. But with your height, you may feel more comfortable on a 26". I'm 1.85m after all, so I'm a large. Overall for you, it's quite a toss up. In the end, the quality you'll get going for a second hand 26", that once retailed for R10 - R12 k, will be better than that for a new 29". As to you're question of whether it'll last on a race, it will. Silverbacks are great value for money. I'd just highly suggest getting pedals immediately upon buying. And most importantly, change those horrible non-folding 2.1 small block 8's tires for some any decent 2.2 folding tyres. Doesn't have to be too expensive (think R350 each). You'll appreciate the change when you get punctures. And buy a bit of that yellow sludge stuff to put in your tubes, to help deal with punctures.
  18. I'll add my 2 cents on just on one aspect of the frame: The front derailleur (I've been looking into this recently) Firstly, check whether the frame supports a direct mount, high swing or low swing front derailleur, and whether the cable guides are on the down tube (allows for bottom pull front derailleur) or under the top tube (allows for a top pull). Some front derailleurs are dual pull. High swing or low swing is, I think, largely determined by the location of the bottle cage bosses (screw points). Also check the seat tube circumference to know which size front derail clamp you need, either a 32 or a 34.9 clamp. (I think a look at the seat post diameter (27, 30.9, 31.6 etc) will give you an idea of the front derail clamp size you need. EDIT: Rouxtjie beat me to some of it. Yes, check bottom bracket (BB) width etc.
  19. Yeah, I'm quite interested to seeing where this is heading. I think they have quite a great idea here, at least for the competitive cross country riders perhaps. I'm still unsure as to whether that'll be comfortable enough to go mainstream.
  20. In the 40 km, I moved from I to B Still starting very late though
  21. What a great race. Did the 40 km, great route. Started in i batch, so had loads of passing to do, but it was still great fun. Being courteous when passing and asking nicely really helps, along with waiting for appropriate places to pass. Also got the Hakahana medal Even so, great organisation throughout.
  22. Well from my view, the Milo/Nesquick is just a nice treat for a kid. It wasn't intended as nutrition for anything lacking in the diet. The USN kids nutri shake is specifically intended to make up for a supposed lack of protein/nutrients in the diet, or for very sporty kids apparently needing extra nutrition above what a good normal diet gives them.
  23. "U get Baby formula 2 supplement babies diet, u get choc Nesquik- yummy. U get Usn Kids Nutri Shake 'combo of both'- brilliant" @martindreyer3 This is the Martin Dreyer that just won the Freedom Challenge 2012, a sportsman I really respect. So there are certainly mixed reactions to this product.
  24. Ugh damnit man, just checked the race writeup here on the hub. I can't get to either Joburg or Pretoria in the next 2 days to pick up my race number etc. This sucks. Anybody still going to pick up a goody bag and race number that can pick mine up as well and bring it through to the race? How about they think of the guys not in Gauteng, would be nice, just saying ..
  25. I'm in too, doing the 40km tho
