  1. I tried riding this for the first time ever from the bottom up last week. Basically, going upwards is nigh on impossible. I got just past the third switchback corner from the bottom and gave up. The huge amount of standing water and and lack of run-offs didn't make it any easier. I'd definitely like to join again for the build day. Clear those saplings, brush some of the dead wood and debris off the top layer of the trail, form some cross trail run-offs etc. But I am still keen to try cycle from the top down this week, after watching this video.
  2. http://www.pinkbike.com/news/nove-mesto-xc-world-cup-day-one-in-the-pits.html That's the weekend before Shimano XTR Di2 came out, Nove Mesto XC WC
  3. Bump
  4. I will try pull in for two or so hours
  5. I've had the same problem with my Reba for a while now. I have a 2013 Reba RL Solo air. I haven't gone into detail with the problem yet, so I've just left it in fully open mode for the moment. I'd also be interested in a response to this problem. I'm sure the remedy is fairly simple.
  6. +1 Although I cycle a Silverback, and don't commute, I likewise have only met very happy owners of a Momsen. Both brands offer excellent value for money.
  7. Hey guys, do any of you have spare tickets for the expo and are planning to register this afternoon? I have a ticket for myself, but my other half also wants to come and isn't doing the Argus. Anybody? Thanks.
  8. I just bought a tube of this the other day, have yet to use it. Seems to me like it should work alright.
  9. I'll be there. I've only just moved back to Cape Town, just purchased my Activity Card the other day, and have only cycled Tokai 2 or 3 times. But I'll be there to hear what's going on.
  10. +1 Both of those bikes will serve you very well, good advice.
  11. I've heard excellent things about Manitou Towers. Had a few brief goes on them, feel really great.
  12. I must first say that I don't own a lefty (yet), but I'm fairly sure that the newer 2013 and 2014 lefties, the ones with the 'moto' style lower leg guard rather than the rubber compression boot have about double the service intervals of the older forks with the rubber boots. Apparently they're now very comparable to RS forks etc, at about 100 hours or so. Can somebody confirm if this is the case for the Lefty Max? Can you find out which year model it is?
  13. Sounds fun, I'll be there. Gonna enter/register when I get there today. I don't understand why entries end at 17H15, but the race only starts at 19:00.
  14. I've seen the Magura fork a few times at Trailseekers and the recent African Cycle Fair. My impression was that they cost around the same as some fox forks (between R8k and R10k) or a Sid XX WC 29", so they'd have to do some hefty marketing of the advantages or differences of their forks to warrant buyers. Two good writeups: http://bikemagic.com/gear/reviews/magura-ts8-r-29er-suspension-fork-review.html http://www.bikerumor.com/2012/05/26/2013-magura-ts8-29er-suspension-fork-ride-review-inside-look/ According to that first article, price in SA should be slightly over R10k, at current exchange rates
  15. If I could only afford those beautiful Fulcrum Red Metal 29 XL's .. they would have my money. Lots of positive feedback for Evobikes over the last few months. Well done.
  16. Honestly, dual air will take less than 5 minutes to set up correctly. There are numerous places on the web that explain how to set it up correctly. In a nutshell, I think it was to set up the positive chamber to get a good sag (20% or so), then set negative chamber 5 psi less than that, as a rule of thumb. And once properly set up, dual air allows you to fine tune it in future if you so choose. I have a solo air Reba, and I don't really feel the need for dual, but I can understand why it might help fine tuning.
  17. Man this sucks. I'm a Cape Towner at heart, lived there my whole life, but now work in Joburg through no choice of my making. And although I only live like 10 km from work, I'd die on the first morning of trying to cycle to downtown.
  18. The Manitou Tower Expert and Pro don't use dual air chambers. Rather, they use a combination of a coil spring in tandem with a single air chamber per leg. The air chamber acts negatively if I remember correctly, while the coil is positive. Or the other way around. The difference between the expert and pro is that the pro has the coil within the air chamber, while the expert has the two in series, one below the other.
  19. I'm also in B for the marathon. Looks like quite a crowd
  20. Bang for buck, Shimano Deore! +1 Absolutely does the trick for me. Only two tiny niggles. Not banjo hydraulic attachment at caliper, to adjust angle, which is a minor thing. Also, no separate reach and bite-point adjustments on the levers. Can adjust reach only, which also slightly changes the bite point. Otherwise brilliant. SLX and XT should be incredible.
  21. Is anybody else having trouble opening that webpage? It's just giving me an error.
  22. True that ..
  23. I agree with the MTBeer and Ed-Zulu. Just got M615 Shimano brakeset in boxes. Comes with fixing bolts for post-mount frames and forks, but no more. Adaptors are only if you decide to upsize to 180+mm rotors, or have older IS mount points, in which case you'll have some serious searching to do for the right adaptors. Rotors are almost never included.
  24. The M615 is the newer version of the M596. I should know, I just received my 615's in the post today from Easybike They have exactly the same functionality, and look almost identical.
