  1. Great stuff, thanks for the heads up!
  2. On the same day as the Tru-Cape MTB race in Grabouw. What a fail 60km apart. So do we choose A-Z trails in an established annual race, or Bartinney Skyfall in a series which has had a few hiccups, but is otherwise pretty good value for money ...
  3. I count a 32 tooth 1x round chainring there. If the chainring is already chowing the swing arm / chainstay, then they obviously can't run a 34t, even if they wanted to. This makes me think that the bike wasn't designed with 1x drivetrains in mind. A boost frame design would likely help here, or a newer narrower chainstay, at least at that point?
  4. I was thinking the same thing. Cassette looks like XX1 to me as well. Great to see the X1 though!
  5. First photo caption is wrong? Should be "Nicola Rohrbach and Matthias Pfrommer celebrate taking the stage win".
  6. Can I suggest you add an additional rule?: Only entries that have not been edited will be considered / Any edited entries will be disregarded. If a person submits more than 1 entry, only the latest (newest) entry will be considered, provided it has not been edited.
  7. Two mountain bikers winning the queen stage of a road race? Should we put Nino, Jolanda Neff and Absolon in the Tour de France to win on Mont Ventoux?
  8. Alan Hatherly continues to impress me immensely! Philip Buys is a past National champ and Olympian, Simon Andreassen is the Junior World champ in both XCO and cyclo cross. And James Reid is the reigning RSA XCO champ. What a phenomenal performance. Wish I could have been there to see it. I'm seeing a very bright future for Alan.
  9. Well, that makes four of us! Also liking the truing stand. Wanted to get a decent one for myself for a while.
  10. Up till now, I thought the most expensive aluminium MTB wheels you could buy were Fulcrum Red Passion, and I think they're somewhere between R14k and R16k, which is still a lot of money. Also, what are Mavic Crossmax SLR's going for now? I know, both are still really skinny old-style 19mm or 21mm rims. There is a small caption on the image that says these have 36 points of engagement, 10 degrees. Quite average nowadays, the same as DT Swiss 240s. Even my cheapo Bitex hubs have 52 points of engagement, and they've never given me a moments hassle. They use 6 offset pawls with leaf springs. Said to not be as durable, I've found them perfect so far, even when I open them up to service and regrease.
  11. AC Carbonator on special for R 17 995 at the moment on Evobikes ... 26 mm internal width, super stiff, 1680 grams (heavy-ish for carbon). This. Doesn't. Compute.
  12. This is absolutely fantastic! "the highest ranking to date from any woman rider in the country". Surely, any rider, not just woman? Have we ever had a male rider this high in the rankings? That is some truly esteemed company she is in. What a list! Biggest congratulations to Ashleigh
  13. I just want to say that I'm majorly excited that the AC now comes in XL size I've always liked what the Vipa offers, but it was always way too small, even in size Large. I guess they think it would cost too much to make a carbon mould for an XL frame for the demand, but I disagree.
  14. I think you two are talking about two different pictures on that same web page. And Momsen made a mistake with the second picture The big main pict at the top of the page is clearly the alu Vipa. Clear weld lines. The smaller picture further down the page, in the pic carousel, where you have to click the 5th small picture to enlarge, does seem to be a carbon front triangle, as Shepherd described. Nonetheless, it does seem like the Vipa AC, with the alu front triangle, should be able to accept the 2nd water bottle in the front triangle. It will just need that new engineered parallelogram bracket Momsen have recently come out with.
  15. No mention of price as tested, or overall build weight? I do love that hot tamale colour, and I gotta admit the curvaceous looks are growing on me.
  16. Saw a black Colnago V1-R yesterday on the back of a car here in CT. The one with the tiny Ferrari logo near the head tube. Beautiful frame it is.
  17. Good luck guys, great news, I'll be rooting for you! (And can somebody please get Darren a smaller helmut)
  18. Pichas .. or it didn't happen
  19. Fantastic! Great to see. I do wish I was there at the Fair to feel a pair of these rims in my hands.
  20. Brilliant work! What a great initiative. I hope it does well.
  21. Thats the exact graphic I had in mind when reading this thread. Thanks for looking it up and posting. Scary hey! wow, thats a LOT of sugar!
  22. Not so, seems that its 32g sugar for the whole 500ml drink, its 6.4g sugar per 100ml. See here.
  23. Agreed. I almost thought the price was a typo. Very competitive price, for electronic nogal! And very good looking too.
  24. New Rockshox RS1? Maybe I missed the announcement? I see its called the RS1 RL Air on BH's website, which doesn't sound very different. Less offset at the crown, and more offset down by the bottom of the stanchions?
