  1. This was an epic challenge this year (2019). What a great route. But ... Entry fee was R375 last year. This year its R650
  2. But its still a reasonable offer, isn't it? No need to be so rude. The seller need only consider the offer for a bit, and decline (politely if possible).
  3. Two points of feedback, not sure if they've been mentioned above ^: 1) When browsing the classifieds, can you make the Bike Discipline show up from the first category you enter? Currently, it only appears when you go down to the lowest category level. I want to search for Road Bike in Components, not just when I got into > Drivetrain > Gears > chainrings. 2) The Image carousel in the Product display page always expands from the first image. If there are 20 images on a bike ad, and you're looking at the 10th image with a closeup of the derailleur, then when I click on the image to pop up the lightbox, then I want that particular image to pop up and expand to my screen.
  4. Weather is looking wet for Sunday, 70% chance of rain.
  5. This looks so great. Nutters. But great Looking forward to the Cape edition then ..
  6. I think I saw that its the new BMW 8 Series ?
  7. Just check that DSV-SCOTT-SRAM are eligible for men's Africa jersey? Surely Lars Forster is Swiss or something?
  8. If you have to run knobblies, I would reckon 30-35 psi front and back.
  9. Wow, that was tough! But g*damm beautiful. The singletrack never ends! All in all, almost every element was organised perfectly. From the route, to the water tables (much more than just water), to the marshalls and signage, to the heaven-sent iced towel at the finish. All in all, I'm so glad I decided to do this. I was really thinking of packing in the towel around 60km, but pushed through it. And it was so worth it. That last climb after WP5!!
  10. Are entries totally closed? Can I still enter as a Sub-vet? On the CSA website, it says entries closed.
  11. Also my first, also C. Just really want to finish, and enjoy the route. Planning to take a few mins breaks at the waterpoints, help others where I can. But the hardest part will be repeating to myself and believing that this isn't a race, its survival.
  12. I think I saw one of these cruising from Camps bay up to Llandudno the other day. I did a double take. The guy was wearing flip flops, but motoring. I didn't know it was motorised at the time, but it looked crazy, like he was hardling putting in any effort.
  13. Fantastic, big ups to the organisers! I did the 60km - I was not really prepared. The second half was hard! But spectacular. One of the most beautiful races I've done. The single-track was superb. They weren't kidding about the % of single-track. Also, well done on the water points, local support excellent route markings, and organisation. We will be back next year, better prepared
  14. Long term forecast:
  15. Is the marathon 70km route going to use Cool Runnings?
  16. That's how I have a 1J seeding, but I don't own a road bike. I'm gonna drop back a few bunches, cuz I'm coming on my MTB I will be spinning at 120+ rpm down the M3.
  17. Haha no, just short of that. Oh well, suppose I will wait until next year to start my belated XCO career
  18. A quick question for the organisers / anybody knowledgable: If I'm a bit under 30, do I have to compete in Elites? I don't mind at all, but I've heard that only the Elites really have to have a full CSA racing license. I don't have one, and don't really want to pay for one for just 1 race. I won't be competing for a podium, I can tell you that. Any help?
  19. Despite missing out on the last 10 km loop (at the 3-way junction without signage, just before the tar road), and my front brake caliper coming loose, and having a small tumble on some rocks ... I had a great time. Did 47 km in the end. And thoroughly enjoyed it. The scenery was beautiful, the flowing single-track in some sections was great! I loved the technicality of most of the route, with some nice challenges on rocky downhills and steep, short climbs. I do hope they can prevent the vandalism in future, but I will certainly be back next year.
  20. Not at this price. This is pretty good actually. For comparison, check out other factory builds at similar or higher prices, such as Mavic Crossride or Fulcrum Red Power 29. This is a value wheelset with very nice-looking rims, sensible tough hubs and durable spokes. As others have said, should have good with brass nipples, but then the weight would rise by ~50g (and then 1820g seems a bit more porky). +1 on offering loose rims!
  21. Aha! Lookie what I found: https://www.strava.com/activities/846551834 Admittedly, that route is different from the route I remember when I did this race about 2-3 years back, so hopefully this is the route they will be using this year.
  22. Yeah, I couldn't see anything online, until the results of the pros finishing a while ago. Great to see Matthys Beukes flying the flag for RSA And our local pros did really well in general. Arianne is still kicking butt!
  23. Yeah, I'm definitely waiting with anticipation for the Device booster. Not sure when they plan to release the details. Also, I'm not sure why they decided to make the device booster work over 24 months instead of 12, especially with the limit of R4000 on device price.
