  1. Can you guys maybe give an opinion on a budget tri watch? Have been doing some research and I am opting for the garming forerunner 70, don't like gps and low battery life. Opinions?
  2. Search heart rate training in google then go the the cape epic training program links. Really good info and free pdf training plans.
  3. Funny how the cheap saddles are so lekker. Never again will I pay upwards of R800 for a saddle.
  4. Liking the WTB silverado at the moment, best saddle I have tried. Would like to test out a phenom as well.
  5. Always good to know there are bike shops out there who can make a living and care for the sport and their customers.
  6. Also interesting read: http://www.mtbonline.co.za/info/mtb-tyre-rolling-resistance.htm
  7. Could have been better I rate. May kan 'n boeing kickstart.
  8. Hoekom is almal so in BMC se gat opp gekruip? Was in there once...Ben tell me what moerse expensive brake outer casing he has that is made of kevlar and some space material and that nothing can break that cable . Then I get told it take 2 hours to bleed brakes so it will cost R700 to replace and bleed my brake casings. looked at a helmet and that too is R200 more than at cwc so I went out and never back in again. Wanted to replace my brakes after a while with the 2012 deore or slx's and then I get told but there are better options out there.... Please .
  9. Ses van die een half dosyn van die ander.
  10. Nee tannie...mense in paarl kan nie wiele bou nie!
  11. Also done a diy thing here and there but it takes experience and trail and error so this is not just a "lets give fiber glass a go" kind of job. Big ups, post more pics, tired of reading all the well done comments
  12. Should make a lekker bonus if you make a few rigid forks and sell them, lots of people wanting rigids for their SS builds... Mind giving some costs?
  13. Jokerman923, meet PietaSS. https://community.bikehub.co.za/topic/123904-mtb-rims/#entry1866193
  14. Waste of money in my opinion, doubt you will be able to reuse the spokes and nipples, so it will be a brand new build, might as well sell the wheelset as a whole and buy a new custom wheelset of your choice. The wheel feeling off balance won't be the rim, could be the tyre pressure or you are still on a 9mm QR, we all know 15mm TA is the way to go...
  15. From what I have read, the AM's are just as soft if not more so than the crests, why change them? use then until you buckle them or if you are too heavy for them get the arch's.
  16. Funny you mention that, I use road shoes with my mtb pedals and shimano spd's. Works pretty well but not ideal, but heck, they weigh far less than my dad's shimano shoes and I rarely walk, and even when I do walk, the cleats are tough, so still works a charm.
  17. You will be told to go for a decent bike fit. I also suffer from lower back pain so I would advise on doing regular stretches, especially your hamstrings.
  18. Pieta for president!!!! (well it sounds catchy...)
  19. Some very nice eyegasms here, would love to view them on an IPS panel.
  20. First off, thanks for the info Mark. Always very interesting chatting to nutrition experts. Questions I would like to get your opinion on: 1.) Is protein only absorbed during sleep? 2.) What is your opinion on hemp protein? Heard they also contain all amino acids. Have a friend who uses it, and he gets very good results from it. 3.) What is your opinion on the available supplement companies? I have this biased opinion towards ON and ssn (budget supps) and think that most companies out there are way overcharged and their supplements don't work as it should, or is claimed. 4.) Considering I live in the res for the biggest part of the year, is there anything in particular you would recommend? I am very strongly considering a centrum multi vitamin, maybe a multi vite in particular which is more directed at 19 year old guys. Thanks, Waiting a response in anticipation.
  21. Here's a nice comparison on specs of lots of tires: http://mtbtires.com/site2/tire-specs/65-700c--29q/62-29q-700c-tire-specs
  22. I would just go with conti's race king/x-king combo, I live in paarl, same dusty dry conditions as george and I don't trust those schwalbe's. They wear out quickly and doesn't feel safe running low pressure. Got race king protection 2.2 front and back now and I am very happy with them, haven't lost control (fell twice with the schwalbe's). And they haven't given me a days hassle with punctures or cuts.
