  1. Hey Waldo, a bunch of us regularly meet up on a Friday afternoon after work to hit the Scout Hall line. The invite goes out fairly regularly here: https://community.bikehub.co.za/topic/122950-scout-hall-dj-session-friday-16h00/ WRT a bike, keep an eye on the classifieds here as every now and then a DJ bike comes up at a decent price. Here are a couple to look at: https://www.bikehub.co.za/classifieds/66828-specialized-p2-dirt-jump-bike/ https://www.bikehub.co.za/classifieds/65061-dirt-jump-bike-dmr-reptoid/ Also check out Dial'd bikes online and I think Mikes Bikes in Greenside sells DJ bikes new.
  2. Just in case you were wondering the 705 looks like this: http://www.tri247.com/ext/reviews/edge705_02.jpg
  3. Hey all, lost my Garmin Edge 705 GPS somewhere between Fratellies & Alberts farm this morning. The damn little clip on the mount seems to have cracked which obviously caused it to fall off. If you did happen to pick one up, won't you please drop me a PM. Thanks.

  5. What about the WTB Frequency i23's as an alternative? They also do a 25mm rim, surprisingly named the Frequency i25 Both available off CRC. Not too badly priced and I've only read good things about these rims. They are apparently a ZTR equivalent... http://reviews.mtbr.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/02/WTB-Frequency.jpg
  6. You'll pay a DHL handling fee of around R100. Then on cycling spares, you're looking at 15.4% VAT on the landed cost.
  7. Through 'technical' single track?
  8. DOT = Department Of Transport See: http://www.stoptech.com/technical-support/technical-white-papers/brake-fluid http://auto.howstuffworks.com/auto-parts/brakes/brake-tests/how-to-check-brake-fluid2.htm What Is DOT In Brake Fluid? Brake Fluid Type Nature Dry Boil Temp Wet Boil Temp Color Common Uses DOT 3 Glycol 401 F/205 C 284 F/140 C Colorless to amber Passenger cars and trucks DOT 4 Glycol 446 F/230 C 311 F/155 C Colorless to amber Passenger cars and trucks DOT 5 Silicone 500 F/260 C 356 F/180 C Purple Military and show vehicles DOT 5.1 Glycol 518 F/270 C 374 F/190 C Colorless to amber Racing cars [source: AFCO, USDOT] If you dig deep enough into any subject, you'll find controversy. Brake fluid's big issue is whether to use glycol- or silicone-based brake fluid. They don't play well together, so knowing which one to use is critical for the performance of your brakes. On the previous page, we learned that your vehicle's brake fluid reservoir has instructions on what type of fluid to use. Brake fluid is referred to by its DOT number and can be any of four varieties, though most passenger cars in the United States take either DOT 3 or DOT 4. The DOT part refers to the U.S. Department of Transportation, which issues detailed standards for all motor vehicle brake fluids in the country. Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 116 details three different classifications of glycol-based brake fluids, and one silicone-based brake fluid (SBBF) [source: USDOT]. DOT 5 uses silicone instead of glycol, which is now the standard for most military vehicles. For race cars and show cars, you'll want to go with this type because, unlike glycol, it won't eat the paint off the car. Beyond that, what's the big difference between the four categories? The answer is twofold. First, there's the boiling point. The higher the DOT number, the higher the boiling point. Remember that temperatures at the can reach up to around 800 degrees Fahrenheit (426.7 degrees Celsius). While it's important to note that these high temperatures are only where the wheels make contact with the brake pad (not in the brake fluid itself), some of that heat is being transferred into the fluid, which needs to be stable in order to function. The second part of the answer is about water. Glycol-based brake fluid is hygroscopic, meaning it readily absorbs moisture found in the air. This is good in the sense that you can't keep moisture out, so it's designed to absorb the small amounts that reach it and still do its job. The downside of this is that the more moisture in your brake fluid, the lower its boiling point. Silicone-based fluid does not absorb water, but rather separates out the denser water and lets it settle to the bottom of your master cylinder, leaving the brake fluid to operate in its pure form and keep its boiling point high.
  9. I think at best you'll find a couple of unpopped kernels at the bottom of the box.
  10. My Hopes are M4's I purchased them from a fellow Hubber who chooses to ride more XC orientated trails and felt that the brakes had too much stopping power for the type of riding he was doing. I gladly bought them from him at a good price. The M4 build & feel is awesome! The modulation and ease of bleeding is something I have not experienced from other brake manufacturers. That said I still feel my old (I'm so embarrassed to say this but it's true...) Avid Elixir CRs had more stopping power. This could however be due to the organic pads that came with the M4's. New sintered pads are going in soon and I'll report back after Malelane if I survive. This is what they looked like... I've now swapped the green bits for black bits but don't have a pic to prove this.
  11. Surprisingly enough Maxxis & I barely know each other. Omega Man I have never met, but he helped with some info about France last year. I've never made a serious comment regrading the lycra crowd on this forum AFAIK. Seems like it is just you who is just a little touchy for some reason?
  12. I think what he's trying to say is: http://static.someecards.com/someecards/usercards/MjAxMy1jNmRlZGUzYjA3NGRkYmM0.png

  14. Going to ride an awesome track with like minded people.
  15. Where is it? Entry details? Haven't heard any details for the event to date...
  16. It just says 250PSI max on the cap. So I can't see any issue running it at a lower pressure.
  17. Game on! Entry in.
  18. It's an Enduro fellas, you can't expect the organizers to mark up the trails 100%. Got to keep your eyes up when riding and try to check out the trails during practice. One issue is the timing. The TrailTag system is awesome, when it works... Pity, it excluded half the field from the final results and excluded 2 of the trails completely . Other than that, excellent trails, excellent venue, great weather (luckily) and good times.
  19. Umm hate to break it to you, but the rows work from the back to the front. You're 1 row from the back...

  21. I'm busy watching someone extremely close to my most favourite person in the world go through this (thumbs, rabbit feet etc are held for a positive outcome). Such a hardcore collection of pics (the last bunch are actually really hard to look at). The disease literally strips the life & soul from the individual.
  22. This spot looks awesome! DHL 2.0??? http://www.pinkbike.com/v/337143/
  23. Agreed, same as the William Nicol crossing. Be very aware when entering these two areas as you are somewhat isolated so keep you wits about you (and your balance for the William Nicol one in particular )
  24. Be sure to keep an eye out for the novel anchoring into the bank Thanks to all them Spruit fairies involved (especially the lead fairy), love your work fellas.
