  1. A truly inspirational story of Theo Ngubane, who grabbed a once in a lifetime opportunity and charged forward to pursue his dream. Click here to view the article
  2. Still want this bike! Evil Uprising. http://p.vitalmtb.com/photos/users/20413/setup_checks/23335/photos/15523/s1600_p5pb10153894.jpg?1380540321 Still wouldn't be keen to service that linkage though.
  3. Take care on the black runs at Chatel http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=O46HJbbIWlA
  4. So can we expect another shoot when you have your new rig ready to roll?
  5. So in my trawling for the Harties vid I found this... http://vimeo.com/11816920 Nige hasn't aged a day since that interview I think all the info is still current too.
  6. No idea. I haven't ridden it yet. I've just heard that it is quite steep and technical in places. Can't wait to roll down the 1st time & check it out.
  7. The 1st vid the guys put out of the track, 7 months or so ago... There has been a lot of work put in since then so hopefully if you're still undecided you'll pull the trigger and join in on the 1st ever race to be held at the venue. http://vimeo.com/60058136
  8. I assume he means these tabs... http://www.raceface.com/comp/l/278.jpg Compatibility can be checked here Edit to add, that this only applies to the 30t chainring
  9. Good price. Naas it looks like you guys only have a 32t ring on offer (although 34t in blue). Is that correct? Will you be getting 36t or 38t rings in?
  10. There were no shipping fees, the clearance fee was the normal R35.00 on a R6k order so the associated cost to the chainring was very little. VAT came in about right at 15.94%, a bit higher than the normal 15.4%, but that was due to the Rand weakening in the time it took to get to SA as SARS use the exchange rate on the day that the parcel arrives, which was R16.2219 = £1. The biggest error was with CRC. They were working with an exchange rate of R14.00 = £1, when in actual fact it was R15.68 = £1 on the day (I checked it via Google on the day of the order, after I got the SMS saying how much Ronds came off of my account). A couple other people have noticed the error on their side too so be aware if you do order from them anytime soon.
  11. Still not too shabby. My one from CRC was just under R750 landed. Priced at R580 on CRC website (there exchange rate calculator/software is WAY out ) It should have been priced closer to R650 on their website, so R600 ain't bad.
  12. You have to bleed Shimano brakes.
  13. I'm guessing that since the thread is about Race Face narrow-wide chain rings, the the R515 is about Race Face narrow-wide chainrings... But maybe not. I see they are R519 (five hundred & nineteen ronds) on BuyCycle (http://www.buycycle.co.za/brands/raceface-en-2-3-4-5-6/raceface-single-narrow-wide-chainring.html) But only stock 32t & 34t It's like they don't care about us guys who can actually pedal (or live where it is really flat)
  14. That is an excellent price!
  15. The bleed kits looks like this: http://www.olympiccycles.co.za/uploads/30137_400_max.jpg Alternatively you can make your own: http://www.thehubsa...._avid bleed kit
  16. I've been running one for a total of 5 or so rides. The chainring has been brilliant TBH Running 1 x 10 (11-36t cassette), X9 (type 2) RD and a 36t N/W chainring up front. I haven't changed my riding at all and still haven't dropped a chain. The only spot i'm a bit conservative is cranking hard on really rough downhills, so I tend to hover over my seat while cranking so IF the chain drops, I'll 'fall' onto my seat. Like I said I haven't dropped a chain to date so I'm well pleased. We'll see how it holds up at the KZN enduro...
  17. Never had issues with my Elixir's before... Perhaps this will help? http://www.pinkbike.com/news/Tech-Tuesday-Avid-Elixir-Brake-Pad-Replacement-2011.html
  18. Found a pretty cool edit on PinkBike of the Mankele national. Good times. http://www.pinkbike.com/v/332487/l/
  19. One careful owner. Only ever cased once on the Hafjell Gap. http://www.pinkbike.com/v/331935/l/ http://cdn3.coresites.mpora.com/dirt_new/wp-content/uploads/2013/09/suding.jpg http://www.mtb-downhill.net/wp-content/uploads/2013/09/lorenzo-suding-gt-fury-crash.jpg
  20. Keeping the trail alive! http://vimeo.com/74365178
  21. FYI from the KZN mtb FB page: Please note that Howick/Karkloof trails are closed as from sundown on Wednesday 18 Sept.High FDI predicted for Thurs/Fri. Closure effective until further notice. Please report any smoke/fires immediately to the Lions River Fire Protection Office on 033 330 6369 or 073 704 5862
  22. Not as much as the KZN champs leg
  23. Still not local enough to be KZN champ , but I'm getting a post box as an insurance policy for next year! Having a girlfriend who resides in Howick means I get to play on the 'local' trails regularly.
  24. Head out and do the Karkloof 30km route from the KK country club. No missioning to find where to sign an indemnity etc. It's all done at the club. The trail is pretty well marked and there is great riding on route. Howick, you can sign an indemnity at the Hospital (ironic, I know) opposite the Corner Post Restaurant. You can ride from Corner Post or park a short distance up the hill at the exit of Home Jerome. From there take Home Jerome to Harrys onto Goblins Glen, down to weir way, then you should be able to see the fire tower. There are a number of options up to the tower, which you can pick and choose from. They are all fun. The Howick trail map can be found here. Be prepared to do a little bit of adventuring as you can get a wee bit lost sometimes.
