Piece of cake with FNB. Fill out a form with a list of all the D/Os, send back to FNB and they sort out the transfers for you. No costs involved. Just make sure you have enough money in old account as sometimes the change in D/O may take more than a month to take effect (depends on the provider's billing cycle).

Bottom line it comes down to the relationship you develop with the LBS. Personally, I live 2 minutes cycle from CL 4ways, but wouldn't use them at all - bad service experience. I prefer to head into Hurlingham and use the LBS there, where I've developed a good relationship with the manager and staff, and I can be assured of quality workmanship and service, and almost always I get a good discount.

Lived in the UK about 30 miles west of London. The local forest was shortlisted for the MTB venue. It would have been awesome... really dont know why they didnt have it there. Brilliant singletrack trails through the forest... lots of great climbs and drops, bridges etc. Pity.

They way I see it is they should drop the road race. With its history of doping, team scandals, etc, its not exactly the epitome of Olympic ideals of clean, fair, amateur competition. MTB far better at demonstrating good individual effort to succeed in a tough discipline.

Check to see if your bank provides travel insurance. I know that FNB covers travel if you purchased the tickets with one of their credit cards.

At Clarens this year, a top female rider got her chain properly stuck. Apparently no-one was able to extract it using brute force (yes, she was good looking and had plenty guys stop to give assistance). I stopped to help (I needed the stop to deal with cramps, and was near the back of the field anyway). My solution was to break the chain (she had no idea what a chain breaker is) and was about rejoin the links (with the jammed bits cut out) when the organisers arrived to pick her up in a bakkie. Goes to show that there are plenty riders out there, who don't know the basics, and who have no idea how to "maak 'n plan" when needed.
