  1. Winter Training Guise
  2. Through testing, power peak or HR maximums achieved in races or better yet specific training. a 20km TT should take less than 30 minutes, so I would work on 30 minute power as a threshold. Working on HR is difficult because in training and racing it can differ, especially as it's elevated on race day due to adrenaline and gels and caffiene etc.. aim to warm up at least 1 hour with 3-4 efforts at threshold for 4 minutes each
  3. break your effort into 4 parts, 5km each. Go conservatively in the 1st sector, DO NOT FILL WITH LACTATE. Stay sub threshold and resist the urge to sprint full ball out of the gate. Sector 2 - build up to threshold and hold it there, monitor HR and cadence are within your ability. Sector 3 - Bleed from every pore, eyeball and orifice, here's where you turn your mind OFF. Sector 4 - Try hold the pace of Sector three for as long as possible, you will fade to the end but hang on for dear life and blow up at the finish line.
  4. This has got to be the most thrilling finish I have seen in a long time!
  5. My dad bought me MX bikes and allowed me to burn up fossil fuel, and Go-Karts at the circuit
  6. I have a 2 week delay on my order.."processing" I sent a complaint email, they bumped up my shipping to DHL. Posted thursday and was with me on monday morning.
  7. If the bike was complete when bought, ie full bike, and was assembed at the factory and no grease was used on the threads or cross threaded, I can fully understand how the bike shop would have hassles removing it. In that case I would say yes it's a warranty issue due to poor assembly. If it's not the original BB and it was installed by the bike shop before then the blame shifts to them. If they are processing your warranty for you then you have nothing to worry about...I would sit back and wait for a new frame, if it's cracked that easily maybe it was a time bomb anyway that you've let them diffuse.
  8. You actually have to read all the comments to get a full picture. Two guys dicing on a wet rainy day was not wise, the car would never have been able to react fast enough. Cars do not often see bikes at the best of times. RIP fellow bikers. It's a hard lesson but hopefully the surviving riders have learned from it. Please be careful.
  9. High 5 is great stuff: Email boyd@cyclespro.co.za to get a list of stocking dealers. Loads more dealers are keeping stock.
  10. Tribe Multisports... Marketing hype..not your strong point.
  11. It's called a Rivnut... just so you know while phoning around... it's repairable. try the Kayak dudes up that end of the world, I hear they are good
  12. wow who would have thought, the newcomer wins
  13. I'm on strava - cant we compare side by side without having to join endomondo as well?
  14. Can't you borrow a friends bike? Fit a rigid fork if it's really not technical, I have seen huge gains using mine or like Andre says, look into 650b. Sounds like you'll need the wheels next year anyhow. Search the classifieds for a used one for sale and offer to rent it. it will subsidise their selling price of an already used bike.
  15. To be fair he did the threadlock at my request, knowing full well fine adjustments would mean warming the nipple up again to free it. it's a bit extreme but after smashing three crest rims and having to true them up a few times I was fed up. I have ridden epic on them since without needing to true them again. I am aggressive as hell on my Hardtail so I need a bit more help keeping them together, especially so because I'm also near the upper limit of what weight the stans crest recommends.
  16. I know a 115kg dude riding the Amclassics without needing them trued ever. Run high enough air pressure and you wont ding the rims. I would say if you want the best blend of weight and strength at your weight get a crest front and an arch rear and you can run lower pressures than the amclassics. PS: MTB mom - your wheels are going out of true due to a bad build and not the rims fault. those nipples need to be loctite secured to stop them from "uncrewing" under torque and torsion loads. I had the same problem - fixed by Lance at Epic bike shop.
  17. Jawbones are good but I find i have to keep pushing them back up my nose. I have Radars as well and they stay put all day long and can sit in your helmet holes, jawbones just fall out. I have a spare pair that I am selling, watch the classifieds
  18. Finally the WCMTB site is back up... great calendar there. I could only find this yesterday: http://geared.co.za/cal.htm
  19. A camel Toe, is a dainty affair shown by good looking women in tight pants... this is way beyond a gentle clam shell. That's a Moose Knuckle. Talk about splitting hairs...ball hairs
  20. Sho they try hard to hide these dates away... fantastic racing..crappy advertising
  21. Is there one on Sunday?
  22. Insanely cool
  23. Biltong and almonds are a better combo. ostrich biltong is low fat and almonds have the best balance of carbs and natural fats.
