  1. I know, I know another Northern Farm thread Was there yesterday and I was blown away by how awesome it is looking. It might be to do with the fact that the weather was killer and that the fire has meant that all the fresh shoots are coming through nice and green. The alien veg has yet to take over. Although there was an event on Saturday and the markers and bunting had yet to be cleared up (I hope that whoever books the venue is tasked with clearing it up) it mattered not. There are some nice new trails and we all know it is hardly technical but damn, it did the job for me on Sunday. I got exactly the fix I was looking for. Saw some nice steeds as well. Always a good sign! Also, it seems to be the only "park" not reviewed in any mag - Ride, Tread etc. Any reason for this?
  2. Hmm. This thread has got me thinking.. I am changing jobs next week and the new office will be in Kyalami as opposed to Bez Valley. Home is in Mnandi so the distance will decrease from 80km/day to 30. Enough for a commute a few times a week. I can get a lekker route through the plots of Blue Hills, Kyalami and Crowthorne but my main concern is the safety - its a bikejack central out there.
  3. I am an Audiophile of the large scale format. Not suited for your lounge or stoep, but more a stadium, arena or green field. Beeeg speakers, lots of them. Very intelligent amplifiers and processing. Fibre optic cable distribution. Remote laser inclinometers.Wireless control surfaces and of course state of the art digital mixing desks.
  4. I be doing the 94,7 on my 26" full suss MTB. Will take the knobbers off and put on some smoothies. Am going to have a good day out and make the best of it. I have done a few of the 94,7 MTB rides but the congestion is not worth it anymore, even though they will be seeding it this year. I am still not up it, so figured I'd rather take in the sights and sounds of the city. Its a nice route and not something you get to do everyday.
  5. Man, that snuck up on me! Was seeded in the B group, but me thinks i blew a gasket early on and sukkled from that point. Plus my eyebrows stopped working so on that first climb I had to dsimount, wipe and walk. Nice and technical. Managed a 2h15, or so. Looking forward to the results.
  6. Muddy..
  7. Sounds like a plan. I'll be on a KTM Lycan 26" with a Cape Storm shirt.
  8. Hopefully some rain will settle the dust and pack the trails a bit. Looking forward to this one.
  9. Must have been deleted. How long can you stay slow and unfit for?
  10. Sparkling Waters out in the Magaliesburg. Right on Breedts Nek and Mountain Sanctuary park. Good value 3 star hotel and a good riding spot.
  11. Was up there a few weeks back. It is really well done and must have cost a tidy sum to do the overhaul. The view from up top is great and facilities are good. They would do well to put a few walking trails in at the top so a person can explore the ridge a bit, the deck bar is good, we did not get to try the pizza, but the beer was cold enough. We were also up there early and by the time we came down at midday the queue was into the carpark Nice one

    Flu

Have not been sick in years. Cant remember the last time I was at a Dr for anything. While others around me cough and snot all over the place. Count myself lucky..
  16. Yip. Guilty In fact just last night as the Mrs was out on a girls night and the sprog was in dream land. I sank a bottle of nice Pinotage, pulled the bike off the rack and polished and oiled and inspected and pumped and caressed and tweaked after I had finished going through the latest Bicycling mag Call it indulgence.
  17. Rode there yesterday and did the outer loop and then Route 3. Gives you a 60km route. Would be really nice if they built some more tracks with bridges amongst the wetland areas and foresty bits. There is so much potential there. I know it takes time and effort and is not private land etc etc. Its good to see the markings are being kept clear. Pity the fools who don't get the trail direction right though. Especially in peak times. I would have thought if you come across a pole with a number facing the wrong way, then its you who are gong the wrong way. Duh! Also rode the new track right at the bottom after you come up from the river trail. Its still very new and need of some rain and a good few weekends worth of traffic to settle, and then that other section that was left after the Northerns Quickie before you hit the home stretch up the hill. A 55km route 3 would be most welcome!
  18. Northern Farm for distance, Groenkloof for technical Anything more and you need to head further out
  19. I was looking forward to this, but I have a rather large music fest happening the same day at Riversands so wont be able to do both. How do I get rid of my entry - is it a simple refund or can someone legitimately buy if off me? I got an early bird 70km plus SAS seeding board
  20. There is still the young boy inside me that likes to play. Playing outside for a few hours alone (mostly) gives me that sense of freedom away from work, life and al that. Just focusing on the trail ahead. There is a zen moment that I exist in and I find a mantra to focus on for a short while. We all love it for different reasons, but the root is potentially the same all over. When I see an adult on a bicycle, I have hope for the human race - HG Wells

    94.7Mtb

Oversubscribed and they are running out of land in the north of Jhb to keep the start, finsih and hospitatlity areas the same as the main race without traversing the construction site that is Waterfall and other areas that are fast becoming part of the concrete jungle
