  1. Depends where you coming from.. From the north/fourways area - just bang down Malibongwe until it T-Junctions at Broederstroom, turn left and then next left and you will see the venue on your right. Last time I did it I got there fairly early, parking was easy. Smashed a beer afterwards and then left. No problems..
  2. Does anyone have start group info? I am looking at a late entry and they will only give me any of the groups that still have space, so just wanna see what the score is Seeded VC for 947..
  3. Entry confirmed.. Next step is to plan the weekend Solo ride from Jhb ? Lads weekend? This year was a romantic weekend for two, next year will be the total opposite Sigh
  4. Cheese crackers guys! It's a bike race for some, a mental or physical challenge for others and then there are those who are out to have a good time.. In the word of Al Jourgenson - So what? PPA this CTCT that.... ******* Jhbers spoil here there and everywhere. Be greatful God damn it. R500 is a winner for what you get. Lucky packet race pack, open road all day, dedicated expo, mucho exposure CT tourism It's one day out of 365. Let live and let love Pheweeee
  5. All of a sudden disc brakes on a road bike are starting to look common. So much so that old style rim brakes look odd.. Kinda like the new Hilux
  6. Haha Momentum and 947 had differences in the direction they wanted to take the event. That's sponsorship for you. It was also the end of the current contract, so with the difference of opinion 947 have taken it on themselves. The organization will still be done by the same team so there should be no worries on that front. What happens next year..?
  7. I just replaced my old Rudy Project this weekend. The old one was done for. Polystyrene was beginning to crumble in the front due to all the sweat. The inner padding was shot and I had a bad fall about a year or so ago so the back of the helmet was a bit squishy. It had done its time I looked all over and set a budget to stick to. I found that Cycle Lab were very competitive. If anyone wants the new Bell Sweep in small go NOW. Its there for R1199. Pity they didnt have my size - its only available in Small - last one I settled on another Rudy Project that was R600 cheaper than the next best price I found at Westdene - which also had good deals BTW.
  8. I really enjoyed this last year. Had no issues whatsoever with the venue. The race itself was great. Fast and flat with only the climb at Hekpoort to get over. I did the 80k and it worked VERY well as a seeding for this years Argus lite, so my advice would be that if you are not fully prepared for the long distance, give the 80km a bash. Do it well and you will be in a good position for the CTCT, but then make sure you put in the effort!
  9. Got me some swine flu this week. Nasty nasty. Coughing bloody chunks, aches and fevers, eyes hurt when looking around.. Booked off for the week since Wednesday. Tamiflu for the rest of the family. Cortisone, myprodol and a strong antibiotic for me. Going to set me back a few weeks I can feel
  10. I would prefer it if they paid more out to the medical practitioners than re imbursing you for a race entries.. Core business people, core business...
  11. A fairly ambitious project to say the least.. Sounds like one I was working on for the last few months that also didn't pan out accordingly, except involved was a govt/private partnership and now there is a whole lot of finger pointing and its going legal and ugly. I would say the investor looked at this and saw that the timeline was totally out of whack and realized that there was no ways he would recoup his outlay. Also there are two side to the story and whoever gets the press release out in the open first generally gathers the most sympathy and weight. edit:grammer
  12. And this, ladies, is why the spruit sucks. Moan moan. Nothing is ever good enough. Whether it's the trail quality, other riders, walkers, joggers, doggers and vagrants. There is forever a moan about someone, something sometime. Please. You are beginning to sound like Ride mag or DSTV.. Repeat repeat repeat
  13. Yip. +1 for NF. Get there early and out into the fields. This time of year is awesome with all the green new growth returning and the invader plants not yet recovered from burning. The spruit is a pile of ass really. Has its place but for a good first time experience head off to NF.
  14. Its kinda like DSTV - full of repeats
  15. Toyota? Does Anton know he drives mutton dressed as lamb~?
  16. Summit Cycles. New rd left if going north. Straight down towards Crowthorne, over 3 robes. At 4 way stop gooi left with funky home industry place on the corner. turn right in there. Mind the rabbits and look out for the Subaru. Reach destination
  17. +1 for Summit Cycles.Just bought a road steed from Anton. No bullsh!t, good service and advice.
  18. Good luck to all riding this weekend. Sad to be missing it and I be thinking of you all with a cold pint of Mitchells finest down in Knysna come Saturday afternoon. Next year..
  19. Trade your bike in? Huh? Pray tell me more..
  20. Someone should take a leaf out of the All Out Adventures' book.. Dedicated starting point for all sorts of activities (quad bike, paintball, jungle jump adventure course etc) and then yarns of tracks that cut across several privately owned farms in the area - each with its own draw. And you can access the trails from anyone of the "partner" farms. Its a great facility. No reason why something like that couldn't work on the doorstep of GP. You have the raw beauty of the magaliesburg, Hartbeespoort Dam, Van Gaalens, and all the rest thats in the area.. Capital outlay and dedication required..
  21. ~Try Sparkling Waters..Its about 20 mins into the hills from ATKV. Its next to Mountain Sanctaury Park. The marathon route comes past the main gate so if you riding that the family can watch and cheer
  22. What, a painted line demarcating a dedicated cycle lane on a stretch of road? Until the taxi industry manages to control its own we can forget about it.
